Has anyone flown on Allegiant Air from Bangor:confused3 ? We were looking at Southwest out of Manchester but Bangor is closer;) . I am looking at going in April but the flights aren't listed yet. I did notice some really good airfares ($89.00 one way) in Jan and Feb with Allegiant. Hopefully I will be able to snag a deal in April!!:wizard:

Hi,

We are planning to book with Allegiant from Bangor when the March fares come out. Unfortunately, they only fly Wed and Sat, and only to Sanford. But I got DH to agree to an 11 night trip -- woohoo!!!

Never flown with them but I did note that if you want to make your own seats assignments you have to pay $11 per person. Otherwise the airline assigns you seats on the day of the flight.

Looking at rates from BGR thru early Feb, it looks like the fares go up to $159 one way. But it is NONSTOP. And saves us 2.5 hours drive to Portland (where you can fly Air Tran N/S to MCO for about $200, or Jetblue with a DC connection for the same amount).

I do not think the savings will be that great after all the fees are added. In addition to paying for seat assignments, there is an $8.50 "convenience fee" for booking online, a fee per bag checked, and nothing free -- even water -- on the plane.

I would imagine the tix will sell out fast --there are 2 flights per week -- so I am checking every morning. Southwest is opening their window thru early March on Monday. I wonder if the other low cost carriers follow suit?

Good luck!

Bea: We are also looking at airfare for April out of Halifax, but right now the prices are high. Do youknow if Alegiant goes into Orlando or just to Sanford as previouls poster mentioned?

Hi Dennise,

I tend not to post things unless I am sure, but if you doubt me on the Sanford point, you can easily direct your browser to www.allegiantair.com and verify it yourself.

In my opinion, a 45-60 minute drive from Sanford in sun is a lot better than a 2.5 hour to Portland or Manchester in snow, but your mileage may vary.
