Im hoping someone can give me some info on this airline and airport... I found some great airfare and am trying to convince DH that we are way past due for our return to Disney. Anyway, with Allegiant Air, I've heard this is a no thrills airline and that they're pretty reliable. I'm ok w/ that. I'm wondering if seats are pre-assigned or if it's boarding like on SWA? As for the airport... is there any reasonable transport from the airport to our Disney Resort? I'm figuring that DME is only at MCO. But what about towncar service? We (me) would rather not rent a car being that we would only use it to and from the airport. How far is this airport from Disney compared to MCO? I'm sure I'll come up w/ more questions, but that will do me for now. Thanks!!

The only answer I have to your questions is that roundtrip from Sanford to WDW is $210 roundtrip using a FL Tours town car. The car seats 1-4 passengers.

We love the Orlando-Sanford Airport! It's about an hour's drive to WDW. However, the airport is so small and manageable that you are in and out of there in no time, so we've actually always gotten to WDW sooner than if we had flown into MCO. We've only ever rented cars, so I can't comment on transfers. Have never flown Allegiant Air either. We used to fly Pan Am, before they had union difficulties and canceled our flights.

You can get a shuttle from Sanford to WDW for $40.00 rt pp. It is Coach USA and several DIS'ers have used it with great sucess. Sanford is a really nice airport to fly in and out of.

We're flying into Sanford on a Vacation Express charter ($56 RT!!) in Sept. We're planning on renting a minivan.

Well I just booked a flight with Allegiant air (out of Springfield) to Orlando Sanford. We are rookies at this but thought it was a great deal. We are from Arkansas, so we will be driving about 3 1/2 north to fly south but it was much cheaper than flying out of Little Rock. When I booked online, I was given the opportunity to reserve seats for $10 more per seat. SInce there is 7 of us I didnt not choose that option. I sure an hoping we did the right thing--but it is a done deal now!!

How are you guys getting from Sanford to WDW? Are you renting a car, or did you find a shuttle service that doesn't cost a bunch? We are thinking booking with Allegiant Air too, but the shuttle adds a bunch to the cost, as well as the very early return flight. :wave2:

We are renting a mini van and got reservations thru Allegiant air for what I felt was a good rate (with Alamo). I think it was $231 for the week. We are staying off site so a rental vehicle was a must. :cool1: I am just so excited I dont have to drive from Arkansas to Orlando!!!!!!! :cheer2: We are not "seasoned" fliers, some among us prefer to drive everywhere :sad2:

We used Allegiant Air in June & flew into Sanford. We were very pleased with the airline & the Sanford airport. The flight is a no frill, but for a charge they do offer snacks & drinks. We took our own so this was not a problem. I did not pay the extra $10 to reserve seats either & we had no problem getting seated together(there was 4 of us). We did get to the airport early, so maybe this helped with the seating :confused3 The flight was on time both ways & landed a few minutes early. Sanford is a nice airport, very easy to get in & out of. It was not crowded at all. We rented a car, so I can't really help you there. One thing you could do is rent a car for the day & return it to the car care center at Disney & do the same on the way back. This is much cheaper than a towncar. The drive to Orlando took about 45 mins. We are going again in Oct., but this time we are flying Airtran. Their rates were cheaper plus we get to use ME this time. I do believe you will like Allegiant & you will love flying into Sanford :maleficen

Don't laugh, but after all this time I've spent reading these boards, and 4 trips to WDW, you'd think I'd know what the Disney car care center is.....but I don't :confused3 You can leave a rental car there, and then rent another for the return to the airport? Is there Disney transportation available to get around WDW?

The care care center is located near MK. You can rent a car from Alamo(I think National to) at Sanford & drop it off at the CCC. They have a shuttle that will take you to your resort or a park if you like. On your return trip to the airport they will pick you up at your resort & take you to the CCC to pick up your car & then you can drop it off at the airport :flower: You can rent cars from the Dolphin resort as well I think. I just priced a one day car rental from Alamo picking up at the CCC for our trip in Oct. & it was around $30. HTH!

Thanks for the great information. You've been a big help! :wave2:

Arkiegirl, Congratulations, but I am so jealous about the whole Allegiant Air thing here in Springfield! I live in SGF, but we planned our disney cruise/wdw trip for 9/17. Prices out of SGF were $322pp. No way. So, we got a great deal with SWA out of Kansas City for $59 each way...total with taxes $135RTpp. Then, they announce Allegiant Air is coming here! But, I had already booked. But, alas, their service doesn't start until oct, so I couldn't have used them anyway. But, their $59 intro deals can't be beat. I almost booked another trip! ha ha. But, alas we don't have the time off work. Oh well...kind of funny though you have to drive far to get the deal here and I have to drive far to get SWA deal! LOL

My sister did use Allegiant when they first came here on their Vegas trips and was very happy with them.
