All you Le Cellier lovers get your flames out

the only people i know who ever waited 45 minutes to be seated checked in a half hour early:rotfl2: the only place i know that could be a problem for that is the Crystal Palace.

Other places I've waited long beyond for my reservation:

Coral Reef
Chefs de France

I'm not an arrive really early type person, but all of these cases I waited 45 - 60 minutes PAST my orignal reservation time.

Apparently, this is a consistant problem for Coral Reef and Chefs. I won't make reservations at either anymore.

No flames here, but I do like both restaurants.

I think part of the fuss over Le Cellier is that many people find the quality better than other restaurants in World Showcase. I'd pick Le Cellier over that place in Morocco any day.

Marrakesh, its another okay restaurant, they could definately do more in terms of food because African food is great, very flavorful, but then again, so many people are happy with the basic "meat and potato", bland food that it would probably get negative reviews there too.

No flames here...We enjoy both Le Cellier and Yachtsman.

No flames here either. My family and I love Le Cellier but feel everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no matter how wrong it is!!!!:rotfl2:

Okay....I just got back from the Outback. It was okay, not great. I've eaten, many times, at LeCellier. And I liked it better before it got so popular. Why did it get so popular??? The ddp. It is a great deal on the ddp...only one TS credit for a nice meal.
I did eat at Yachtsman in Dec...I was really looking forward to it. I was there with a group of friends...about 8 of us, mostly DISers. And I have to say I was very disappointed. My filet was badly overdone..asked for it to be medium rare, and got medium well!!! I would have sent it back but my meal was one of the last to come out and by the time I would have gotten a replacement everyone else would have been done eating. So I just suffered in silence. My choice.
The best beef I've had, to date, onsite, was Flying Fish. Yeah, I know...a seafood place. But it has always been wonderful.
LeCellier has dumbed down their menu and taken a lot of the better stuff away.

No, Le'Cellier is like an Outback..... I would hardly compare Outback to Applebee's or Fridays or Ruby Tuesdays. :rotfl2:

I guess that's what makes the world go round, we all have different tastes and opinions.
puleaseeeeeeeeeeee. if you took the branding down and walked people through all of these they would be hard pressed to tell the difference. i am not fighting, i eat in all of these and like them all.......but............ what is argueably the hardest ADR in WDW is that way for a reason.

Perhaps we'll meet someday; then you can say you knew someone who showed up 10 minutes before their ADR at Le'Cellier and waited almost an hour to be seated (50 min). ;)

Let's see. . .where have I waited 45 min past my ADR time for (a total of 65 min--I always show up 20 min early)?

Yachtsman
Coral Reef
Le Cellier
Les Chefs de France (was NEVER seated)

Yeah. . .Crystal Palace is not on that list--I've never waited more than 10 min for it.

i have never experienced any of this myself.....................i stand corrected.......and hope my luck holds.

just back from the world 2/9 to 2/15

Didn't try to get into Le Cellier this time instead went to Yatchsmen Steakhouse and OMG it blows LE Cellier away. Will probably never go back to Le Cellier with the Yatchsmen such a short walk away

I love LeCellier and this news makes me smile for the simple fact that it frees up one more table for me! If we all liked the same thing there would be trouble. :woohoo:

Yachtsman is a steak house, Le Cellier is like an Outback.

I don't agree. I don't get a chain-restaurant vibe from Le Cellier at all. Never been to Yachtsman's though, so maybe if I had I could see what you were trying to say here.

That being said, I think Yachtsman's is someplace we will try eventually, but being at the Yacht & Beach Club makes it really inconvenient.

Just because I love certain items at Ruby Tuesday's, I will make a fool of myself coming to its defense. :) The Triple Prime burger you can get there (cooked medium or medium rare)...is the best burger...it is better than nicer places like Houston's. I was a waitress at Houston's for years (and they grind their beef in house!) and their food is amazing, but Ruby Tuesday's burger is better and less $$$.

It is unusual for such a long wait, but not impossible. I waited over an hour to be seated at California Grill. The circumstances were unusual, and the manager did his best to accommodate our pains (although he fell short of solving the problem, which was in reach), but the experience was unacceptable. The root cause was that we had a large party. For folks with parties over the size of one table (we were 10) who are looking for a Signature experience, I'd steer clear of CG if the parks are of average crowding or more and plan on a place like Narcoossee's or Citricos which are less factory oriented. This is unfortunate, because the food and service otherwise were awesome.

With regard to the question at hand, we have had great experiences at both restaurants. I agree with the poster who said that Yachtsman has some more exotic flavors. Not all of their steaks are Mesquite smoked, but they do use an oak-fired grill. Their cuts are dry aged and may provide a nuttier beefy flavor that some folks don't like. The service there was, in my opinion, excellent, but stuffy.

The comparison of Le Cellier to an Outback is a bit specious -- the quality of beef at Le Cellier is much higher. And the times we've been there, we have had outstanding service. It is a great place to eat and we try to go there every trip. My love for Le Cellier, however, is also nostalgic - it was my first meal in the World on my first trip (when I was 23).

We do not dine on any of the Plans - we use Tables in Wonderland discounting. If you are dining this way, the cost difference between the two is not as magnified. That being said, there are many financial distractions at Yachtsman - expensive wines, exotic appetizers, and expensive desserts that can amplify what appears to be a small difference in the cost of an entree. You may think you'll be able to resist - but people who want big steaks are not known for their restraint.

These restaurants are different - and both worth a visit. The hype factor of Le Cellier may sometimes set expectations too high for what it is. That is unfortunate, because it is a neat place to eat.

:thumbsup2 We've tried both Yachtsman Steakhouse and Le Cellier. My personal preference is Le Cellier.

:thumbsup2 We had great service at both. We ate steak at both. However, my steak at LC was better prepared than at YS. Also, we were seated at a window table at YS overlooking a chaotic pool area and screaming children. It was very quaint eating inside the cellar-feeling of LC. I now know why it is so hard to get an ADR for this place, it is SMALL!!! Our server at LC overheard us raving about the pretzel bread. Yum! Yum! She told us it was shipped in from Canada. She wrapped some up for us to go without even asking. Our meal at YS, we ended up only paying for one entree (due to a not-so-good steak) and a free dessert to appease us I guess.

:flower3: We are not pretentious people. But, we do like an occasional nice meal out. Ruth's Chris is one of our favorite steak houses. But, even they have their faults as I had to send my lobster back one time because it was undercooked. Have you ever eaten "rawish" lobster. Yuck! So, I don't expect every restaurant to be "perfect". But, I do expect a nice meal when paying hundreds of dollars for it. :cloud9:

:thumbsup2 We'll be going back to Le Cellier. (If we can get an ADR. ;) ) Yachtsman Steakhouse has been checked off my list. :sad2: We won't be going back.

I do want to try Shula's (Dolphin). That will be another trip ... :rolleyes1

:goodvibes Jennifer

We have eaten at both Yachtman and Le Cellier and Le Cellier is still our fav - yes, it is a hassle getting an ADR - but still very good - and w/ only 1 TS - well worth it! Especially if you can time your reservation to wrap up in time to be right in the heart of the laser/fireworks show!

I don't think the prices at a restaurant in Disney is any worse than at any other restaurant at any other theme park.

Oh, I don't disagree, but if you compare it to offsite (even within the immediate area to WDW), you can get much, much better for less or similar prices.

I also eat at all of them and like them as well. I also am not trying to fight. We all have opinions of restaurants and different tastes. I also like Le'Cellier; I just don't think the food is equal to the hype. It is true, Le'Cellier is one of the hardest ADR's to get, but this is not entirely so because Le'Cellier is such an awesome and incredible restaurant that stands above all others. A few huge reasons why is because it is not a very large restaurant , because with it being a 1TS on the DDP it is an excellent value, and it is the only 1TS steak house on the DDP. If Disney decided to raise the prices a couple more dollars and turn it into a 2TS restaurant I doubt there would be so many raves about the place nor would it be so hard to get into. For me, I think there are at least a 1/2 dozen other restaurants that serve a better steak in WDW. I just think it is on par or slightly better than an Outback or Longhorn. But as I stated, it is an excellent value on the DDP as a 1TS restaurant.

Last trip we ate at both and loved both. Yachtsman is a higher quality steakhouse but that is also reflected in the price. If you are on the dining plan Le Cellier is a better value for 1 point, in my opinion. Yachtsman takes two points and has a dress code which can be challenging for people who are in the park all day long.

This is why I didn't try Yachtsman Steakhouse b/c of the points

Since I am the OP, I would liek to clarify a few things:

-We use the DDE or Tables in wonderland discount
- There isn't a steak on the property that compares to some of the steaks I;ve had in the nYC area where I live
- A review of the place. My steak was cooked to the perfect medium rare, very tastey and we had excellent service. Walked up at time of ADR 5:35 walked in the place at 5:40. They also had the best kids desert the paint it yourself mickey puzzle. $8 a little expensive but definetly kept the kids busy so I could enjoy my desert and after dinner drink
