The manager of the Lindt cafe was apparently the hero. He went to wrestle the gunman so the others could escape. In the process, he got shot. The sound of the shot was what led the authorities to go in.
Sadly, the manager passed away from the gunshot.

At least there appears to be no organised terrorist group. Single gunman....but the reports are chilling. He was out on bail for being an accessory to murdering his wife; has a criminal record and is known to have written hate letters to the families of servicemen killed in action.

How the authorities let this guy go out on bail is beyond understanding.
