Are there any good all you can eat buffets (breakfast, dinner) around the Universal area?

How is the Ponderossa?

Thanks.

Theres a pondorosa on I-D next to WnW and a sizzler also a golden corral I would not recomend the golden corral we tried there in march and it was pretty dirty and dingy compared to the ponderosa which was far superior never tried sizzler

The food was pretty good at the ponderosa great selection good value as well

I totally disagree, Golden Corral is far superior in just about every aspect. The number of items Golden Corral has on its buffet can't be compared to Ponderosa. If you go for breakfast they make you omelettes with whatever ingredients you want, If you go for dinner you can't beat All You Can Eat Steak and other meats. As far as cleanliness I've never had a problem in any Orlando Golden Corral.I live in miami and we had one in south miami dade county that was pretty old and run-down we went in there one time and walked right back out since it was very dirty and lacked the variety of the ones we've been to in Orlando. Probably a month later this restaurant closed and was replaced by a brand new one about a mile south of the old one. The new one runs just like the ones in Orlando, great variety, clean and always busy!

Remember thats my experience in march perehaps I got the name wrong its opp wnw on same side of road as walgreens

highlander,

What does, "opp wnw" mean?
and are you referring to the Golden Corral or the Ponderossa?

Thanks.

I think it means "opposite Wet 'n Wild."

Or as we 'Merkins say: Across form Wet 'n Wild.

Thanks phantom thats correect translation I was talking about what I think was the golden corral but as i say may be mistaken the ponderosa & sizzler where both on the same side of WnW prety close to it

I just wanted to back Highlander up on this one. We LOVE Golden Corral and have visited GC's all up and down the East Coast and frequent the three that are in our home vicinity. All that being said, we found the International Drive location to be very much sub-par and have not returned on any subsequent trips. The I-Drive Golden Corral is located at the intersection with Sand Lake Road (near the huge McDonald's). Dishes and utensils were dirty, buffet items were always low and infrequently replaced, table service was non-existent. I had to get up and head to the server's station myself to get soft drinks. (Normally, your server brings your drink refills out to you.) Additionally, this was the ONLY Golden Corral we have ever been to that did not include a drink with the child's buffet. Every other GC does this. As much as we love Golden Corral and in light of the fact that we usually stay in or near Universal and this would be the most convenient GC, we still do not patronize this one.

I should mention that we have been to the Golden Corrals in Lake Buena Vista, Kissimmee and our favorite location on West Colonial (near Smokey Bones) in Orlando and have been very satisfied with all of them. The Colonial location may very well be the best Golden Corral we've ever eaten in. They definitely have the best dessert bar!

Highlander, I'm sorry you chose that particular GC location. Please don't judge the whole chain by that site. They really are the best buffet around.

Are these restaurants (mainly that huge McDonalds) within waling distance of the UO hotels?

The World's Largest McDonald's is at the corner of Sandlake and I-drive. It would be an exhausting walk. If you go be kind to the Simpson's pinball machine in the second floor game room.

No one has mentioned Sweet Tomatoes just outside of the park off Kirkman and Int'l but it's a family fave.

Have never been but have heard others rave about it for lunch etc never realised they did breakfast

I LOVE Sweet Tomatoes (corner of Kirkman and I-Drive) but the original poster has mentioned breakfast and to the best of my knowledge, ST is lunch and dinner only, which is why I didn't suggest it.
