I know the rule about loose ice, such as in a lunch box and stuff but since ice in water bottles and camelbaks tends to be ok. Whats the call on some ice in a zip lock? Has anyone done this? Will security stop you if they notice in the scan?

I want to just put a few cubes in a ziplock bag with my mission wrist bands in my insulated pocket in our backpack, to keep them cold for when I need them. I always hate wasting cups of water for a dirty rag and would be great to be able to bring in some ice ( 5-8cubes).

No, ice in zipock is considered loose ice, reusable ice packs are permitted. I would recommend small reusable ice packs in a ziplock since they'll stay cold longer than ice cubes.

I'm going to contradict PP and say "loose ice" is just that -- ice cubes loose in the container. Ice in a ziploc baggie is allowed. The purpose of the rule is not to prevent ice, but to protect the security personnel who may need to dig/poke through a cooler full of loose ice. Bag it and there's no problem, the bag can easily be pulled out or shifted to look behind/under it.

Last year, I brought ice in a ziploc bag into the parks. For extra security (against leakage), I put the filled ziploc bag in a small tupperware. I had no issues- it was allowed in.

it would be in its own pocket so would be easy for them to see thats all it is. this is hopefull thank you both for the replys! and to @TheSouthernBelle our room dosnt have a proper freezer so a ice pack wont work since it wont get frozen.

Can you not fill a water bottle, like a Hydroflask with ice and bring it to the parks? Sorry, not familiar with this rule.

I would double bag it to ensure against leaks, but I think it will be OK.

Get some of the cool packs they sell to put in school lunches. Sit them in a bag of ice if you can't refreeze them. just because they are much easier to deal with than ice.

I use ice in a double ziplock bag with water for my chillypads, all inside a soft sided cooler. I’m heat sensitive (it triggers MS symptoms) and it helps me stay cool. I was allowed in without issue. We also filled our water bottles with ice before we went to the parks each day so we would have cold water there. Also, you can drop freezer packs at bell service for them to put in the freezer. I did that each night then in the morning before we went to the parks I picked them up and put the freezer packs in the soft sided cooler to help keep the ice water cold. This was a few weeks ago.

The new park bag we have is actually a baby bag (we don't have a baby). It was at Walmart and Pooh bear themed and just looked great for the park. It comes with an insulated side pocket that would fit a baby bottle so the ice packs would prolly not fit great. But on the other hand it would be leak proof if the ziplock somehow opened up. Gonna definitely double ziplock some ice water and leave our multiple mission towels/gators in it.

I actually use an old fisher price bottle bag in the park! It does the best job of keeping stuff cold and isn’t too big.

We took the changing pad out :p for 29$ I couldn't pass it up.
