Making early plans for May 2015. DH, DD6, and DD2 seem to be leaning towards an All Star resort (hubby for the price and daughters for theming). Which does everyone prefer? Sports, movies, music??

I love the theming of Movies. However I feel that they are pretty much the same. Movies is most likely of the three 2 have its own bus, but is the last stop when they do share. They only share during the day when there is a high demand for buses they all have their own.

All three are very similar. Each one has a food court, gift shop, arcade, a main pool with a sprinkler/spray feature and a "quiet pool." The rooms are pretty much the same except for the themed decor. (Other than the family suites at Music, of course.)

On occasions when buses are being shared, the pick up and drop off order is Sports, Music, Movies. This is a much bigger deal to some people than others.

Music has the the most elongated layout. Sports isn't too spread out. Neither is Movies but a large portion of their rooms are considered Preferred. If you want to book a standard room, especially with a discount, it can be more difficult at Movies and generally easiest at Sports.

Sports' food court was just refurbished and I think I read that they'll be doing Music's next. Presumably they'll do the one at Movies eventually. Who knows how long it will take, but I would hope not long enough for it to be a factor next year.

Theme-wise, I think Movies is always a good safe bet with kids. Sports and Music are more taste-dependent, but they've all got the big colorful icons. :thumbsup2

I was having the same dilemma, but I am leaning toward Sports due to the ability to book standard and be as close to the buses as the preferred at movies. All about the price! :-) the new food court sounds nice too.

I liked that about sports too. The layout was appealing.

They are all pretty much the same. You should just pick the theme that appeals to you the most.

For us personally, we like
1. Sports (pure nostalgia, our Disneymoon was there)
2. Movies
3. Music

I told my girls we should stay in sports as a thank you to DH for staying in Royal Room at POR in November!! I said let's do All Star Sports for Daddy. Lol. Poor guy is surrounded by girlie things always!!

As far as bussing, that's not a huge concern for me. We may drive our own car some.

Sports recently has undergone a total room refurbishment. New carpet, beds, paint. I like Music, because of the layout. It's straight back, once you leave the main hall pool side entrance. Movies has the smallest discount, 5%, when one is offered. The shared buses is not an issue for me. Whichever one you choose, you can also use the food court and pools at the others.

I agree with all of this, but as much as I like Music I would not stay there without the food court (Fall 2014 -- Yay! I won't be there!).

Sharing buses is great if it means they come more often - and we often take the Sports bus if we just miss ours.

Having a new food court sounds very appealing! Will Music's food court be finished by December? Does anyone know which themed buildings are considered standard and which are considered preferred at Sports? At Music? Can you request to be in a specific themed building? We like some of the theming at Sports but we aren't into hockey or tennis as much as football and baseball, for example. Maybe it's silly to base room location on a specific theme. We love the Jazz Inn section at Music for sentimental reasons but I can't remember is it's considered preferred or standard. Is it only family suites now? Yes, it's been awhile since we stayed there but it's still one of my favorites. I love the rose garden and fountain area.

I agree with the above. Sports is a nice little resort. Even from the furthest building, youre not very far from the buses/main building. The new food court is a nice bonus. Also, the bus situation is great too. When all 3 All-Star resorts share a bus, Sports is always picked up first/dropped off first. Always. Love that!

I also love Movies. Absolutely love the theme there. But the only draw back is the fact that its the last resort picked up and dropped off.

I know you said you wanted to do an all star resort, but you might want to consider Pop Century. Adults love the theme here, you see stuff from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's & 90's. So funny, my son pointed to the giant walkman and asked "whats that?". LOL! Boy did I feel old! Pop is definitely my fave value resort....love the theme, love that it doesnt share buses. And the entertainment staff at the pool are the best i've seen out of all the resorts ive stayed at (even the moderates!). If you get a ground floor room facing the lake, its so serene and beautiful. Walk over to the bridge, drop a few crackers in the water and watch tons of huge turtles swim to the surface. Coolest thing ever.

I've only ever stayed at ASMusic, and both times requested to be put in the Rock section, and wound up getting put in Country instead. Not sure if it's because the first time I was solo, and the second time it was just two of us, but that's what we got. Not a big deal, but it can feel like quite the hike from the buses/dining at the front of the resort to the room at the back of the resort, especially after a long day in the parks. However, I do like how quiet it is back in the Country area of ASMusic. And my musician boyfriend loves that the pool is shaped like a guitar and all the other music theming around the resort.

The All Stars are very similar to each other except w/ different theming. I like them all! Music is my all time favorite!

I've stayed at each value multiple times (except AoA where once was enough). ASMusic is my favorite for theming and it seems a bit more quiet than the others.

Bus service at WDW can be ANYTHING at ANY TIME for ANY resort. I think the bus sharing at All Stars is WAY overstated. I stay at the AS at least 2-3 times per year and I would guess that we share buses 25% of the time or less. Even when we do, I see no difference in that and a moderate with multiple stops within the resort.

The pools are all basically the same--one main pool and 1 smaller "quiet" pool. None have slides or deep ends.

I stayed at Music and liked it. Except that I was in the Broadway section and the hike back to the room was exhausting after a full day of walking.

This trip, I have chosen Movies because I like the theme and the fact it's more compact. From the map, it looks like even the farthest building is closer than Broadway/Country in Music. The only theme I don't care for is Mighty Ducks, but I am probably going to ask for that building since it's closer to the Music buses than the Movie buses. However, I think I'll be happy in whatever building I am placed. (I may even get a preferred room.)

Bus sharing at AS isn't a huge deal for us. We stayed a POR is November and that was four stops for busses.
