All-Stars full! Should I be worried?

We have a family suite booked at ASMu Feb. 7-14 (booked in early August). My brother wants to meet us down there, but because of a recent job change, he wasn't sure he could afford the trip or get time off. He's definitely going now, but when he tried to get ASMu (reg. room) ressie last week, it was all booked. At that time, we looked on WDW web site, and saw ASMo rooms available. So he called AAA the next morning to book it, and those rooms were all taken! His agent booked him a room at POP, which is fine but may be a little harder for us to meet in the mornings, eat at foodcourt, swim, etc. together. I asked why he didn't ask for AS Sports, and he said the agent didn't offer it, and he didn't know about it. This was Friday night, and I looked online and found available rooms at Sports. When he called Monday to book, those were all gone too.:scared1:

Should I be worried that all three huge All-Star resorts are completely full during what I thought would be a "less busy" time? :confused3 Has anyone had luck with a value room opening up closer to your travel date? He's checking every day.

Also, does anyone have any advice on meeting up with family members at a different resort? We'll have cell phones, but I can see it being a big nightmare. Is it possible to walk from POP to ASMu? Sorry this is so long, but as you can see, I'm stressing (probably too much, I know...)

The National High School Cheerleading Championship

2008 INFORMATION

February 8-10, 2008 at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida

This might be why.

POP is great how about u guys go there not as many cheerleaders at pop

Aaah! Cheerleaders! :rotfl2: The whole reason we booked ASMu is because we wanted a family suite. DH was pretty adamant about wanting the extra space, so I'm not sure he'd want to change at this point. Thanks for the info. And here I thought I'd done all my homework...:rotfl:

Keep checking.
I am pretty sure one of the All Stars will become available.

Good Luck!:wizard:

I just checked online and it said ASMu is booked but suggested AS Movies instead.
So Movies is available right now.

If Movies is showing available, book it online right now as a room-only - do not delay!!! You can always call CRO and add the AAA discount if it is a room-only. Then, your brother can order discounted tickets through undercover tourist or some other discounter. I did this very thing a couple weeks ago and it worked out great. It will take several minutes, as the CM will have to refund the original deposit you will pay online, then rebook under the AAA discount and charge a new deposit. The CM I had was great - very helpful, pleasant, etc.

sometime the AAA discount is gone for these resorts. It doesn't happen often - but it does happen.

see if your brother is willing to pay full price. then just tell AAA that he doesn't want the discount - but does want to be close to your family.

I'd book it right now. I've forgotten all the tricks about changing names on reservations. I think if you start with your name and your brothers you can later drop yours and add the rest of his family. I'd be up front with CRO.

Have you seen Linda's threads on the Family Suites? They're great.

Good luck with all those cheerleaders!

Has anyone been at any of the All-Stars or parks during one of these competitions? Is it going to be super-crowded? We have P&PP tickets for Feb. 9, plus CRT and BBB ressies another day, so I'm not going to reschedule. We'll just have to take on the cheerleaders. :rotfl:

We were there last year during the cheerleading competitions and didn't encounter any issues with crowds until our last day (but we stayed in a house off site). I used Tour Guide Mike so he helped us plan around them. Our last day there we went to MK and the crowds were supposed to be low but there were cheerleaders EVERYWHERE and the lines were very long. Luckily we had already visited MK earlier in the week (when the cheerleaders were in their competitions) and got to ride everything then.

Try Southwest Airlines website under vacation specials. They have rooms blocked for their use. I was able to find availability for Dec when Disney had almost everything booked. You can choose the room only option or add flight and Park tickets.
