Hi all. Just out of curiosity I went to the Disney website to check prices for Dec. 1-12 at ASMu. They quoted me $1034.88 for 11 nights. That's $94.08 per nt. That's CRAZY... I've found no less than 20 hotels off site for $40-$50 nt and some of them even have kitchenettes in them like little apartments. Will the All Star Resorts always be that expensive or will they come down some? I would'nt mind staying on site but not at that price plus the $400 or so we're spending per person on tickets to WDW, US, and SW. That's $1800 before we walk in a park. Any info on how to cheapen the All Stars or suggestions for off site hotels would be greatly appreciated. This is my 1st trip since '94 at ASMu and off site. I'm gonna do 10 days on site and I would'nt even mind changing hotels during my stay, but only if the All Stars come down. BTW...are the parks crowded at all in Dec? Thanks everyone....

Cheers...Barry

Were you by chance offered an upsell? Did you try for any other resorts? Check mousesavers.com for codes to try, and I have had discounted rooms for the same timeframe that you are going in the past. While I never stay at the all stars I think they have had discounts there too. I think the normal rate for those is around 109. 00

Those dates should be value season, for which I was quoted $77 a night before tax. I would call reservations and ask a CM what is up with that rate. Surely it's a mistake.

I had a room booked for $77/nt. I think with tax it's about $84. I think that is a resonable price for on site, but I just switched to the new Royal Pacific Resort at Universal for $99/nt.deluxe pool view. I know it's not Disney, but the price is great, by the way we are going the same week as you. From everything I have read the park crowds shouln't be bad at all.

I have ASMo booked Dec. 4-12 at $552.72....that's Disney Club price.......but I will still watch for codes to come out for that time frame.
Sorry, bu IMHO, I would never stay offsite again!!
Been there, done that,

Have you considered investing in at least one AP? I think the break even point for APs is 8 days so if you plan to spend at least 8 days in Disney theme parks, it might be more economical for you to purchase APs rather than park hoppers or length of stay passes. Or maybe buy just one AP? The AP discounts on rooms can be 30% of rack rate. I think our rate last year during December was $55 per night with tax. As someone else mentioned, joining the Disney Club is another option and you'll probably save the cost of joining just in your theme tickets alone ( I know I more than made up the cost of joining when purchasing our APs last year! ) You'll have a great time during December! WE LOVED IT!

Dec of 2002?? I have ressies at ASMo for Dec 7 - 21 and have a $77 (plus tax) rate, which is rake rate for value season. I would call them again and find out why you are being charged so much.

I just made ressies today for Nov. 3 & 4 at AS Movies (the 3rd is the first day of value season, therefore should be same rate). The rate with tax is 86.24 per night. When I asked for availability the CM first quoted me with the "preferred room" rate. It sounds like that's the rate you currently have. Preferred at Movies (per the CM) is only Fantasia bldgs.

Hope this helps.

Hello BarryCF-
As someone else mentioned above, if you join the Disney club (39.00) you get a discount on an Annual Pass. Adult are 354.00 and children are around 300.00. They will pay for themselves if you go to the park for more then 7 days in any one visit. If you go back in less then 1 year, then the savings are fantastic. You'll also find it much more relaxing when you go to the parks and not feel like you have to stay just to get your money's worth. The AP rate at the AllStars during value season can go as low as 54.00 per night. If you join Disney Club first, you'll get an 800# to call disney. Ask the CM for the AP rate on your rooms. You don't need to actually have the AP until you check-in. As allykat said, you can also buy just 1 kids AP to still qualify for the AP rate on your room.
Good Luck.
