Hello,

Jazz Inn is closer to Melody Hall(this is where the food court, check in, arcade and the store are) than Rock Inn. If you are using WDW buses to get around the bus stops are at Melody Hall. If you go to http://wdwig.com/gallery.htm you will find maps of the various resorts. There are also pictures.

I think your children will enjoy the ASMu. However, if they are looking forward to a pool with waterslides they will be disappointed. None of the pools at the All-stars have waterslides.

Wish I were going in 10 days. :(

Welcome to the boards Disneygirl.

First of all everyone is different and has different expectations so it is hard to give a definate "yes you will love ASMu". I will however give you my experience.

This is the story......

Last summer my family took our first ever trip to DW. We have a pop up camper and stayed in Fort Wilderness. We had a 5 day hopper pass that we upgraded after our 4th day in the park to an AP thinking we would make 1 more visit to DW before the AP expired. We decided to make our 2nd trip at Christmas. The campground was full so we stayed at AKL (we were upgraded due to a couple of moderates closing down over the Christmas holidays). Since our passes did not expire until July we decided to take MIL and FIL in early June. We stayed in the cabins at FW. During all this time this time I kept thinking how nice it would be to take a trip just dh and I. So after our last trip in June I came home and did some research, found a great airfare and gov't discount for the Dolphin. We stayed 1 night there and did not care for it at all. Got up the next morning and called CRO. We were able to get ASMu at a AP rate for the remainder of our stay. We were in the Jazz buildings which was a pretty close walk to the food court.

I guess what I'm getting at is this. We have stayed in a deluxe resort, home away from home resort, campground and value resort. We have enjoyed everyone of them for different reasons. My kids are 11 and 14 and I think they would have loved the ASMu resort. In fact next time we go that's probably where we will stay.

My personal opinion is that you will enjoy ASMu very much. I hope this helps in some way. Sorry it was so long.

We will be there Aug. 2-6. My sister and I will be staying in the Calypso building. I am very excited about trying a new resort.

Your kids (and you) will have a blast....my dd's were there in 1996....the pools are very nice and the food court was awesome (in our opinion)....there's a small arcade as well...

Don't worry....be happy!!!

:bounce:

Just came back from Music in June. ;) Planning another trip in Nov. for Sports, where I usually stay!:D

I was also on a budget when I went to Disney. Staying at All Stars Music was just fine. It sure beats staying off site! There are 2 really nice pools that my kids loved. The rooms are a bit small, but that really did not matter because we were at the parks most of the time. We will never stay off site again. There is nothing wrong with All Stars, this hotel gives families on a budget the opportunity to stay on site and enjoy the priveleges that come with staying on site. We never waited more than 15 minutes max for any of the Disney buses.

There is a food court but no sit down restaurant. Once again that was not a problem because we ate breakfast in the room most of the time (bagels, pop tarts, cereal etc...) then had a nice dinner at one of the parks. The food court has a great selection for breakfast (we ate breakfast there 2 times during our stay)
And there is a wide variety for lunch and dinner. It gets old though if you plan on eating dinner there everyday.

There are pictures of all the Disney resorts at www.wdwig.com , click on the blue banner at the top of the page that says Deb's unofficial site, then on the next page scroll down until you get to resort info and there is photo link.

I hope this helps and enjoy your trip!!!!

We loved staying there! We were in the calypso building(before it was preferred)and had an excellent vacation!

The rooms are about the same size as your average hotel room, but there the similarities end.Bold colors, cute accents,Disney EVERYWHERE!!!The pools may not have a slide, but the main pool has the Three Caballeros in the center that squirt water. My kids LOVED that. They were 7 & 10 at the time and our second trip was at the Movies when they were 8 & 11.They loved that one as well and never missed not having a slide there either.

We stayed at AS Music in Dec 2001. I have also stayed at Sports and Movies. WDW was so empty when we got to the resort, when I mentioned that we had requested a smoking room with a king bed, she asked which floor we preferred! We got Calypso bldg # 1 (not preferred then) and it was great. We are going back to AS Music in October, with the same requests but couldn't justify paying the extra $$ so we will be in Jazz or Rock too, hopefully the closer one.
AS Music is great in our opinion. I would find it really hard to justify spending more money on a moderate or deluxe, and I have stayed in home away from home and deluxe resorts at WDW. (when my parents were paying!) For just DH and I the AS are great. The bus service was excellent. The longest we ever waited was one night at Epcot and there must have been some mix up because we waited for almost an hour. The food court is pretty decent, their philly steak sub is much better than Cosmic Rays and the bakery is great. There is a huge arcade and a nice gift shop. I really have nothing bad to say about the All Star resorts at all! Until we win the lottery, or if Pop Century ever opens, that is where we will be staying at WDW.
Have a great trip!:D

You will love the All Star Music it is a great resort and the price can't be beat. As for the building Jazz Inn is much closer to the bus stop, food court etc but when I was there in May the CM said the Jazz Inn is no longer a smoking building so we were given Rock Inn which is a longer walk to the main building but not bad at all. One of the Calypso buildings is also smoking but we did not want to pay the extra fee.

My daughter and I are staying at the ASMu from Aug.20/02 to Aug.25/02 and I am thrilled to here all the positive reports on the hotel. She is 11 and it's her first trip to Disney, we can hardly wait.
