All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

Where is the smaller pool located?

It is actually not too far from the Calypso pool, sort of at the intersection of Rock, Country and Broadway

redrosesis - Thanks for the report.
We are staring at the suites in June and cant wait. I usually rent an ECV from Scooter Mobility for our trips because I thought the buses were share and I did not want to have to wait for many buses to pass before I could get on. I was going to take my chances and get an EVC each day at the parks. I am so happy to hear that the buses are not shared. I will be able to place my order for an EVC and save $ to spend on my grandchildren.

No problem. There is no guarantee that you won't ever have to share, of course, but remember you can also take buses for ASSports or ASMovies -- both of their bus stops are only about 5 mins from ASMusic (great if you've just missed your bus!)

Anyone know if we can get a list of movies playing next week (Mar 2-5?)

tks!!!

There was a flyer in our check-in package with all of the activities for Feb. The schedule, including pool side movies, is the same week to week (except for the 2 nights where the movie is chosen based on guest voting). I would think you could contact the front desk now and they could tell you that information.

Has anyone shipped a box of food/water etc to All Star Music? Did you get charged an extra fee?

OR

Has anyone taken a cab to the Goodings to pick up some supplies? Any idea how much that would be?

Thank-you!

We had a package delivered to ASMusic before we arrived (cell phones that we could use in the US) There was no charge for that. We also had an order delivered by Garden Grocer -- the $12 delivery fee was probably less than you would pay for taxi to Goodings and back. No problems -- it was waiting for us when we arrived, the cold things kept in the fridge at Bell Services.

Thanks. I had not thought about the grocery delivery. Will they deliver beer?

Until last night we were planning to drive but a good airfare popped up and now we think we will fly. I hate to drive!

But DH likes to drive so that we can take a cooler with some food, water, soda and beer. So my goal was to find a way to get the cooler there. Before when we flew we used a town car service and a grocery stop but now there is Disney transportation which sounds nice. Also we will be paying $15 per checked bag :sad2: on American so I don't think I'll save much be checking it? :confused3

Edited to add: Will American allow me to check a Styrofoam cooler with beer/soda in it? I wonder how heavy it would be? then the Disney people would just take it to our room?

Beer? never thought about that, but I just checked gardengrocer.com and they didn't have it listed in their products.

I wouldn't ship anything on an airplane in a styrofoam cooler (I used to work in an airport) It might be worth it to ship beer, if you can find a way to do it, but garden grocer does have soda -- but with the refillable mugs, you have an unlimited supply of that anyway.

Garden Grocer does deliver beer. You have to type in the specific brand and quantity you want in the comments section and fax them your ID.

Is there anyone to have more than Four People in a Room? I am already booked and my Aunt is thinking she might be coming.

Not allowed in a Value resort unless they're a child under a certain age, from what I've read & heard. I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will let me know. You'd have to go to a Family Suite at ASMu, a Moderate, Deluxe, DVC or Ft. Wilderness for 5 people. :surfweb:

Thank you! You were right I had to switch to Port Orleans Riverside:)

I know you can't book a king bed at ASMu but does anyone know if they will usually honor this request? DBF is a giant and too tall to comfortably sleep in a double bed (they only measure 6'3 in length). To think last time I stayed at ASMu I complained when they put my friend and I in a king room and refused to give us a double instead...has anyone who is non-handicapped ever requested a king sized bed at check in and had the request honored? I don't mind if we get a further away building.

This conversation has had me thinking about our one Garden Grocer order. It was very efficient and they were very helpful. They will get you just about anything if you type it into the comments section. Alcohol does require an advance faxed copy of your ID and that the same person meet the delivery, but, that's fairly easily accomplished.

I think I've read somewhere on these boards that they will even rent (lend?) you a cooler for your stay if you ask about it.

I've never had any luck with it at ASMu. Really, the smaller beds are my one complaint about ASMu. (I was willing to pay the extra $10/night to guarantee a king bed at POR and I wish that the All Stars also had some sort of separate booking category. I acknowledge that because of the set-up/design guests requiring a HA bathroom should get first priority. But, couldn't there be some sort of bumpable priority list for the King rooms?)

Thanks :) I guess we will just ask at check in and hope that we get lucky...who knows, we just might. :wizard: The smaller beds don't bother me because I'm short but I can see how it would be uncomfortable for taller people...hence why DBF keeps asking me about getting a king bed because he is worried about the double being too small for him :sad2: Worst case he just has to suck it up...he'll have a good time, we're in Disney! :cheer2:

I had no idea guests had no choice whether they got a King bed (1 bed) or 2 doubles. That makes no sense and needs to be changed.

Booking the 1 bed should definitely be a separate bookable category.

Yeah it's silly...like the other poster said, I would have gladly paid the $10/night for a king bed guarantee but they just don't offer it...I know they have the rooms though since I got put in one last time I went (and didn't want it :confused3 now that we kinda need it since DBF is too tall for the double we probably won't get it lol

Well this morning we are back to driving :sad1: . DH just wants to drive. Why I just don't know. So I guess I won't need garden grocer (inless I can get him to change his mind ;) ) Thank you for the information though.

About the room type. I too wish they would let you pay a little more to guarantee a request. Maybe like a 1 time booking fee or something. We want connecting rooms but not a family suite, I like the kids having a real bed not a fold out. But they book an adult and a child in each room because they can't promise the connecting one. I am worried about it and would pay more to know we will get what we need.

Should I be more concerned as there are probably less connecting room at Music since they used them to make the suites? Oh dear I had not thought about that until now! something else to worry over!
