All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

Well this morning we are back to driving :sad1: . DH just wants to drive. Why I just don't know. So I guess I won't need garden grocer (inless I can get him to change his mind ;) ) Thank you for the information though.

About the room type. I too wish they would let you pay a little more to guarantee a request. Maybe like a 1 time booking fee or something. We want connecting rooms but not a family suite, I like the kids having a real bed not a fold out. But they book an adult and a child in each room because they can't promise the connecting one. I am worried about it and would pay more to know we will get what we need.

Should I be more concerned as there are probably less connecting room at Music since they used them to make the suites? Oh dear I had not thought about that until now! something else to worry over!

First of all, I think I had read somewhere that the value resorts had a lot of connecting room. Here is a link to the room layout at the all stars. It looks like there are at least 8 connecting rooms per floor. http://willcad.org/disney_maps.shtml

We are driving this year too. We have found it is really nice having a car. We eat off site at times and sometimes it is nice to get in your car at the park rather than worry about getting a seat on the bus. We can also take a lot of extras, like our own coffee etc in the car.

I wouldn't be worried about getting a connecting room as long as you are not also requesting Preferred rooms -- those and the suites are in the same buildings ie. there would not be less connecting rooms in the other buildings.

OK, I'm confused ... I've booked a room for 4 people (wife, me, 19-year-old son, and 11 year old son). Am I hearing, then, that I could end up with a single king-size bed rather an two doubles?

I think it is only when a party of 2 is booked that it could be an issue. That would be quite crowded!!

I am staying there April 1st with my husband and son - I assume we will get two doubles!!

How old are your children? We were in a family suite last August and the pull outs were really quite comfortable. I tried out the full size one with my girls one night for a few hours watching a movie and it was as comfy as any value full size bed I've been in. And the queen in the bedroom was great. We really LOVED the set up of the family suite. It was nice to have the fridge, microwave and storage of the kitchenette.

To my knowledge you cannot book a king room with more than two adults and a young child under a certain age. Have no fears the will not your family into one :thumbsup2

I know this is probably just an untrue rumor about ASM, but at the free pool movies do they have free popcorn???

We booked 2 rooms at ASM and they said they were guaranteed connecting because the age of our kids.

I am going to change though to the family suite because we would like the kitchen.

Hi everyone,

We are going to be staying at All Star Music later this year. First time at this resort. We are trying to find out which is the best location/building for kids as we are having a grand gathering with some kids ( ages 7- 12 years old).

We'd like to be close to the main building and we're thinking of maybe Calypso or Jazz Inn. Any suggestions/advice on buildings and even room #'s would be great.

Thanks!

The activities all happen at the Calypso pool which is right next to the main building and bus stops so Calypso (1&10) and Jazz(2&9) are the closest buildings (these are the prefered rooms and also the family suites). I stayed on the backside of Calypso 10 and it was great, close to the pool and food/buses but not facing the pool so quiet and right by the parking lot, but you might prefer the front side. Also in between 9 and 10 on the backside is a playground and trails/landscapped area.

Calypso 10 is also right across a parking area (you can go to the corner and there is a cross walk on the street) from ASMo Mighty Ducks area which is thier 'quiet' pool. So you can visit there as well. (all stars allow pool hopping between the three resorts)

I'm sure this is on the thread already so I apologize if someone blames me for not reading through th 87 pages. ;)

We are staying at the ASMu for the first time in a non preferred room. 4 Adults, 2 of which are smokers, and we have our own car.

What should we request for a building/room? Any suggestions? I appreciate anyones input. Thanks! :goodvibes

Not sure if this is really part of your question but the resorts are all smoke free. There are designated locations but all of the rooms, no matter which section, do not allow for smoking.

We stayed here for the 1st in October, had 2 connecting rooms in Broadway and we loved it!
As far as the location, yes Jazz and Calypso are at the main pool area, however the piano pool is close to rock, broadway and country.
The walk? imho it was no big deal, only maybe another couple of minutes further, plus music is playing and the landscaping is great !!
This time around we are planning on a family suite.
:cool1:

Yes, thank you. I know the rooms are smoke free. There are only 3 smoking areas on the property. I was hoping to find a building that is near to one or has easy access to it. I am just trying to make it easier for the two smokers in my group.

We stayed in Broadway and passed by a smoking area everyday, I believe it was right past the fountain, across from the piano pool on the Broadway side.
I didn't notice any others since we pretty much took the same route everday.

This thread would probably be helpful to you - it's the designated smoking areas at resorts thread. You could ask about this there :goodvibes

Thank you! I will for sure check that out! :goodvibes

Can anyone tell me if the Jazz building 9 is for preferred rooms only or is it just Calypso that offers the preferred? We are in a standard room.

DH & I stayed in a standard room in the Jazz Building #9 on the ground floor in January. We absolutely loved it. We were near the parking lot (which was great), at the end of a row of FS. Quick walk to the food court, pool & buses. We loved it. The room had been refurbished & had the privacy curtain between the sinks and the sleeping area. For us it was the best location we could have gotten in a standard room.

Have fun on your trip! :cutie:
