All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

Hi everyone!

I will be staying at ASMu next week, and I was wondering if anyone knew if the Intermission food court served fresh fruit. I'm on Weight Watchers, and from what I can see on the menu page, there aren't too many healthy options (but lots of pastries that will definitely tempt me!). I would just run to a grocery store, but I'm chaperoning a group trip, so I don't have access to transportation. Also, if I bring my own WW-friendly instant oatmeal packets, is it possible to get just a cup of hot water in the food court?

If anyone's stayed at ASMu in early December (but after Pop Warner, thankfully), approximately how long are the lines for breakfast in the mornings? It would be nice to know for the sake of telling kids if they need to get to breakfast at 7 AM sharp so they can be done by the time we load the buses to head into the parks, or if it's empty enough that they can swing by a few minutes before we leave.

Thanks so much!

Yes...there is fruit and yes you can get hot water for your oatmeal. There are lots of healthy options if you look for them....that applies all over WDW.

As far as breakfast goes it tends to be busy. So the earlier the better. I would not count on being able to grab something on the run.

For fruit I remember bananas, containers of grapes, containers of mixed fruit (cantelope, grapes and honeydew)...might have had apples and oranges too....

The fruit counts as a "snack" if that helps and you can get 3 "snacks" ** as a QS meal.

** in terms of snacks used for a QS meal credit they can't come from the things in the middle so no candy or rice crispy treats (I know the poster who asked about the fruit wouldn't be interested in those but just wanted to be clear for anyone reading this).

Maybe we'll see anyone who's there in late January - we'll arrive on the 25th.

We've never (knock wood) had any trouble with noisy groups. However we usually stay for 10 nights at a time and they tend to tuck us up on the 3rd floor in the further away buildings so that might help in that area...

We've been there end of January a few times. The tour groups are there, but are more families than lots of teens and are generally just visible on their way to and from the bus. But it's been chilly the past few years and there wasn't a lot of people at the pool.

The cheerleaders/dancers are there too. They are really well-organized. They have strict rules, on-site control, lots of organized activities. We were out at the pool one day during the activities and the kids were doing a dance party. They were playing the cha-cha slide when a bunch of cheerleaders were walking through on the way to the bus. They all started doing the dance/motions while staying in line walking. It was adorable!

Like I said in another thread, you've never seen so many ponytails in one place!!! Or guys with goofy grins ;)

Oh yeah, see y'all in January - we're there 1/21-28!!

Just stayed at the Music for the first time this weekend. I have never been to a value or a moderate before so I was not too excited, but I loved this resort! Our suite was nice and I loved the atmosphere at the resort. The food court was great too. I still prefer deluxe but this was a nice, cheaper option.

Love this post!! We fly out tomorrow evening and check in on Thursday for our first stay at ASMu! Excited!

I'm going to All Star Music!

I booked a room only before speaking to my husband, hoping he'd think it would make a nice Mother's Day present since I love going solo in May for the F&G Festival.

Today I discovered that Airtran was having a great sale from many airports. I checked and flying from my home airport to MCO was only 59.00 on a tuesday.

So I talked to my husband and he said to book it. So now I've got my room and airfare booked for the May trip. :woohoo:

I'm looking forward to my Mother's Day present. Guess I need to figure out my ADR's next.

Just returned on last Wednesday from a 5 night 6 day stay at ASMu and we loved it!!! Even more so than our stay at POP!

:yay::yay:
Joining this thread. Looking at the AS Family Suite for this summer. Hoping for a good discount.

46 more days til we check in.
Better stay than Pop, thanks tha makes me feel good :thumbsup2

I've stayed there every Jan for the past 3 years for marathon weekend and into the following week. This past year was the first time I noticed any tour groups while I was there. Not saying there were none previous years, just didn't really notice them. This group was from Brazil and was really rowdy. Teen girls in groups walking around the resort making up songs, cheering, etc. It was all during the day hours so I really didn't get to bothered by it. But it was noticeable.

Yes the pool activities run during the winter months. Movies too. :)

We stayed at ASMu last year - mid Jan and there was a huge Brazilian group staying at the resort. Honestly - we hardly saw them. They were all staying in the back part of the resort (we were in the Jazz Inn) - so we'd see/hear them walk past, but it didn't bother us at all (couldn't hear them in the room). Just had to get to the food court ahead of them ;)

We'll be going again in a few weeks Jan 17-23rd - just booked it last night at ASMu!

Joining in... Staying at ASM from Jan 3 til the 6th, sort of a "business" trip (I'll be solo) as I will be waiting for my son to finish his WDW internship. Then we will be driving to his college (High Point U in NC). Our family was just at the world for our first ever Christmas visit (Dec 3-10) and we had great weather and a great time. Have a great day and a Happy New Year.

Yes, we are very proud. He has wanted to work at Disney since he was 10 years old. This past 6 months he really WAS livin' the dream ! Now it's back to school. He still hopes to work at WDW after graduation in a professional environment. Thanx again.

We are now booked for a one night stay at All Star Music before heading out for our first Disney Cruise. We have never stayed in a value resort and I'm looking forward to exploring a "new" resort.

Just booked rooms at ASMu for a week in August! We have been to disney many times, but this will be our first trip staying on property. I am so excited, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas to get here.

We love the ASMu Family Suites. This will be our 4th year in a row staying in them. Plenty of room and a great price! In fact, we stayed at the Grand Floridian for three nights last March as part of Disney Social Media Moms and I actually prefer the family suites at the value resort. Can't wait to be there in a week!

We are booked at AS Music for spring break, March 31- April 6th. We stayed one night before checking into the Beach Club when DD was there with her HS band. We really liked it a lot. We were in Broadway. I have requested Jazz Inn this time. Looking forward to the longer stay!

All Star Music overall gets a A-/A

The staff was great

Ease of check In: A-

Check in was quick, staff was friendly , helpful and knowledgeable answering questions.

Transportation ----> A

Get a Preferred room - right near the Calypso pool. you're close to the main lobby area, and can get right off the Disney Busses and get back to your room and/or get quickly off the Magical Express from the airport, so won't have to go as far with your luggage.

There is a gift shop
Front Desk area, and
a Quick Service Cafeteria.

Tip: I am not positive on this one , but I have heard if you stay at an ALL star property you can use the pools at the other ones (Movies and Sports) as well and use anything on those properties as well.

Parking: A

Tons of parking spaces available.
also 24/7 security patrols in golf carts and trucks by security staff

Pools: A-

I only used the Calypso Pool right by the entrance but it was good.
Would have gotten an A if it was heated but it was still good as it was in the 90s when I went in May 2008.

Layout: A-

Property is fairly easy to move around, and everything is close by (within a 5 minute walk). Bus transit right out front of the front desk.

Drive to the Parks: B+/A- If you choose to drive to the parks

You're basically a hop skip and a jump from hollywood Studios/Animal Kingdom,
and about 15-20 min from Magic Kingdom/Epcot, depending on the time of day and route you take.

Services: B-/B : There aren't that many services right near the property.
The closest thing is the Disney McDonalds
about a 10-20 minute drive to all the Businesses along 192 and Kissimee businesses depending on where you're going.

Businesses in the area:

Publix Supermarket on 192
Old Town Amusements: 192
Target: 192
Restaurants - 192.

ROOMS: Rooms would get a B/B+

Just average rooms nothing fancy, but then again how long are you really in your rooms in Disney I only got in late in the evening and went to bed shortly after, got up early the next day, so I didn't need a super huge room. I'd rather have a smaller room for the value. For the value the rooms were about right. In my opinion.

Overall Grade A-

The overall experience was a positive one

TIP: Be sure to visit the bar at the All Star Music and say hello
to Gaston, yes Gaston is his name one of the bartenders if he's there.
He works some days, some nights.
