Hi There,

I just booked an Air Transat package to All Star Movies for Jan 2017- while I have been to Disney resorts before, never to All Star Movies. We have a preferred room as part of the package- has anyone been that can offer any tips or advice?

TIA

You might find more answers over on the Resorts thread. There will be one dedicated to the Movies resort which should be able to answer all your questions.

I haven't stayed at Movies but I have stayed at Music. The resorts are basic but fun. Not too far to walk anywhere. If you're going to eat in the food court avoid standard meal times as it can get busy but this may not be an issue in January.

All Star movies was the last of the three to be built. Of them its our fave. We always ask for Toy Story buildings for two reasons, its right beside the main building and its our kids fave.
We found the food courts while busy you can still find a table.

Your prefered room means you will be in one of the buildings closer to the main lobby. The main pool can get very busy, we have swam in the Mighty Ducks pool which was quieter. Ottawamum makes a great suggestion with eating off times, this could be as little as 1/2 hour. Busing at that time of year you will be sharing with the other Allstars, so factor that into your arrival times. Will only add 5-8 mins at most.

When we stayed at ASMo, I specifically requested the Mighty Duck section as it is like being in the preferred section without paying extra. It is very close to the bus stops and quick service restaurant at ASMu, has it's own pool and a laundry room beside the pool as well. The All Star resorts overall are not as new as Pop or AoA (which we've also stayed at) but they are so compact and convenient that I would pick them first if staying at a Value. The least expensive option as well.

My one tip would be when taking the buses from the park back to the resort (especially if staying until park close when things are CRAZY with everyone trying to leave at once), if your resort bus has a significantly longer line up than the the other All Star resort buses, just get on the All Star bus that has the shortest line. You can easily walk from the ASSp or ASMu bus stops to your room at ASMo.

Good point about the bus lines, thanks for the tips!

We stayed in the Toy Story Building Last Jan. The room was very clean but it was looking at bit worn, particularly the carpet. The food court was better than I expected.

Did you find that you had to share busses with the other All Star resorts or were there stand alone busses for All Star Movies?

It all depends, sometimes you may have to share going or coming back from a park. At the busy times of the day you usually will have a dedicated bus. Also the time of year you travel will determine whether you share at all or not. It only takes a few extra minutes to stop in at the resorts. On the plus side the resorts are really close together so you could easily take say a "Music" bus and walk over to "Movies"

I wouldn't let the bus sharing deter you from choosing "Movies". If you are the kind of a person who can handle public transportation sharing the bus with another resort isn't a biggie.
