Greetings,

We are currently booked to stay at All Star Movies resort in September and I had a few questions. We have always stayed at Pop, but they were, and still are, booked completely.

1. Is the bus service bad? If so, anyway around that?

2. How are the rooms? I've heard that they are refurbed (hoping so.)

Thanks!

Bus service is fine but dependent on realistic expectations. Buses run about every 20 minutes all day from 6:30 AM until Disney Springs venues close - so about 18 hours a day, every day.

There is an active thread on this forum about Movies rennovations.

My wife and I stayed there this past March.

I had no issues with the bus service. I think the longest we waited was 15 minutes for a bus to Disney Springs. However, there was one group there told us they had been waiting over an hour for a bus to Typhoon Lagoon. They were livid.

We slept in a non-refurbished room. In 40 years of traveling to Disney, that was by far the the worst room I’ve ever been in. The room smelled like old socks. Everything was worn and the carpet was disgusting.

We stayed at Movies in July 2017 and didn't have any issues with the busses and we thought the room was pretty good for an All Star resort.

We stayed one night in December 2017 and I agree. The refurb there is desperately needed. None of our plugs would stay in the sockets, they were so worn out.

We stayed at Movies in October of 18 and had a refurbished room in the Love Bug building. It was so clean and the beds were pretty comfortable! The hardwood floors in the refurbished rooms make for a little more noise than you would normally have with carpeting. So we ran a white noise app on our phones at night and had no problem sleeping. We also had a great experience with bus transportation. Occasionally they would combine all the All Star resorts onto one bus but that wasn’t the norm during our stay. I feel like buses came quickly and we didn’t have to wait very long to make it to/from parks.

I've had two All Star Movies stays recently, one the end of May, and one last week. Pop has always been my favorite value resort, but Movies is now a very close second.
1. Only had one issue with buses and that was in May. Was trying to get to Disney Springs and it was close to dinner time, around 5ish. Waited a while for a bus, and when it came, it was almost full because it was shared with All Star Music. I managed to get on, but had to stand. There were a lot of people who had to wait for another bus. One way around this is to walk to Music and get on the bus there. No other issues with buses.
2. I had refurbed rooms for both of my stays, and they were wonderful. Identical layout to the rooms at Pop. My only request for both of these stays was for a refurbished room, and even though I had booked standard, I was in preferred sections both times. In May, I was in building 4, 101 Dalmatians. The wing I was in was the only one open, the other 2 wings were still in refurb process. I felt like I was living in a construction zone, but it didn't really bother me and I didn't hear any noise. For my trip last week, I was in building 9, Toy Story. Loved the Andy's Room theme.

For a September trip, standard room, I would probably request the Mighty Ducks section. Both of those buildings were being worked on when I was there in May, so they certainly should be finished long before September. You will be super close to buses and transportation at Music, so it gives you extra options.

I actually would say the opposite and request Love bug just because the OP will have a guaranteed renovated room in that section. Both mighty ducks buildings are still being worked on. Although one did look close to being done last weekend.

Really though, if you watch the renovation thread I’ll try to keep it updated and if the mighty ducks get done before your trip or are close you could switch your preference to that section

I've stayed at each of the All Stars within the past year. At Movies and Sports in both a standard & preferred. At Music only in a standard.

Buses from All Stars is no worse than any other WDW resort. Expect to have your own bus in the early morning & late night. Expect shared (3 stop max) during mid-day when demand is less.

Most WDW resorts at all levels share buses or have a multi-stop route within a resort.

Expect to stand when demand is high. At any resort, at any level, buses fill up. Disney packs in until every seat is taken & standing is in the aisle from back to front, then they leave. This is universal at every resort.

One tip for All Stars is that you can book a Standard at Movies, request Mighty Ducks section, and be closer to the Music main building and Music bus stop than most rooms at Music.

You won't be able to use MDE app for bus times since you'll be using another resorts bus. But, you'll be closer to Music for food court, refillable mugs, gift shop, etc. The MD section has its own quiet pool & laundry facility.

There was a recent thread discussion of this & a great pic posted showing the closeness of the MD building to the main hall of Music.

Anyone know where I can find a copy of the recreation/activity sheet for October. Thank you!
