My mom and I are going to Disney World, Dec.5-12,2006 and we are trying to decide which resort to stay at, either All Star Movies or Pop Century. Which one would you stay at and why? And do you have any pictures that you could share with us?

The All Stars share bus transportation to and from the parks.

Pop has their own bus.

We are staying at the POP, we heard lots of good things about it. One it doesn't share buses with other resorts, two, its supposed to be a lot of fun with things that will remind you of different eras.
We can't wait!
Also if you go to disneyworld.com and go to resorts you can take a virtual tour of it. We have a dozen of times in anticipation of our trip.
Good luck, and happy planning.

Um, isn't that Pop Warner week? Aren't the AS's supposed to be over run by cheerleaders and football players? Wouldn't Pop be a better choice for that week?

It's close for me, either would be wonderful. However, if I have to choose I'd pick Pop, if only for the Chubby Bloody Checker Dancing at 8am in the resteraunt.

Cheers Larry from Scotland.

Where would I go to find that out, if they are staying there during the time we are going to be there? As I don't want to stay next to them, to loud am sure!

I would choose Pop. That is our favorite value resort. We have been to all of them and have found that Pop is more to our liking. The fact they don't share a bus helps out greatly at times as well.

I have to step in and give the OP the truth. Ask someone who's stayed at both about the bus service.

All Star Movies, during less busy times, shares buses with Sports and Music. Who cares? You're the last to be picked up and there's ALWAYS room on the bus. It's not like you're waiting any longer for a bus. During busy times, Movies has it's own bus. And besides, all the All Stars are within walking distance of one another. If you don't want to wait to be dropped off at Movies, get off at Sports and walk. It'll take you 10 minutes (if that).

Pop on the other hand, the buses are almost ALWAYS packed.

I say this only to be truthful - I've stayed at both SEVERAL times, if it's bus service you're concerned about, you're better off with All Stars.

That being said, I also prefer Movies for the swimming areas, the theming, location (right near Blizzard Beach and Animal Kingdom), the pool bar and the food court.

Pop Warner is Dec. 3-9, and they stay at the ALL Star resorts. We are staying at Pop from Nov. 29-Dec. 6, so hopefully they won't be there. But I have heard, that they do go to Pop if they have overflow. I am booked at Pop, but if I can get a good deal I will move to a Mod. If not, I just reassure myself that we are only in the room to sleep and that's it. We are not pool people and don't do the afternoon nap thing so it shouldn't bother us too bad.

I've been at Music during Pop Warner week and it wasn't an issue for me. Maybe I got lucky, but the kids never presented a problem. I also ended up for my last night in Dec at POP. The end of the Pop Warner week...again, not an issue there.
So, putting the kids being around aside, which resort. Well, yes, the buses do get crowded at POP, but if you try to be there early or head out to the parks at an off-time, you'll be fine. I did find that the Pop buses did come more frequently at park closing. So, that helps.
If I had to choose, I would go with Pop. I'll be there in May..my third time, my dd's second trip there, and the first stay at POP for my dh. I love it there. If you do decide on Pop, I would suggest the 50's section. It's my favorite area there.

Thanks for all the info. and input on these two resorts! Anyone else......

I would love to see pictures, if anyone has any?

I'd go with POP....it's newer, cuter, and quieter! Especially during POP Warner week! Take a look at both on Allears.net...and then make your choice!

I would also have to say go with Pop Century. While I've never stayed there before (which is what would be part of the attraction for me), I've gone there to look around and thought the theming was great. I have, however, been called from their pay phones in the lobby--does that count?

I've stayed at the All Stars before, and enjoyed it thoroughly, so I don't think you'd go wrong with either place.

The fact that The All Stars sometimes shares the buses with The other All Stars is true but only if the bus is not not full. Then it is usually one other stop and we are on our way!

I am 55 years old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe resorts do not have anything special for me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

Here is the map of All Movies.

The Fantasia Buildings are the preferred buildings.
The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.
It is a great place to stay .
Preschoolers love it.
It is like being in the middle of a Disney Movie Fantasyland.

The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot,MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

The gift shops are seperate from the food court at the All Stars.
When staying at the All Stars you can use any of the All Star pools. that means 3 main pools ,3 quite pools and 3 kiddie pools to chose from.

Pop has 2,880 guest rooms. 4 floors in each building.
All Stars has 1,960 rooms. 3 floors in each building. That means more people in the food courts,in the pools and waiting at the bus stop at POP than at the All Stars.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 5 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 for 8 nights we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic pixiedust: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?
Have a great time at Disney!
I know we did!

I've stayed at ASMo and visited POP. We will be staying at POP in November. My dd and her friend stayed 2 days there at the end of our last vacation after the rest of us came home. They loved it and I was really impressed by what I saw during the 2 hours I was there.
