All-Star Movie or Pop Century?

I'm working on an 8-day visit with 8 people in January.
I'm trying to cut costs where possible but want to make this a magical experience for all the people going,
2 of which have never been to anything Disney.
The rest of us haven't been back for almost 12 years
Just when I decided on 3 rooms at the all-star movie resort I started thinking maybe Pop Century with the Skyliner might be fun.
We are all adults (19 to my age) and one 4 year old.
It would be about $256 more for the stay at Pop so I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts or experiences of one vs the other.

The Skyliner is a gamer changer in my opinion. We booked AoA for our next trip in Feb for that reason.

POP was always my go to.
However I think the Skyliner actually hurts the efficient transportation.
Also now that Movies has the same refurbished rooms at a lower cost that's where I personally decided to stay for my trip coming up in a few weeks.

Movies is a much smaller resort than Pop so it felt to me to be less "busy" and the rooms are identical in size and decor. I think it all comes down to how much value you put on having access to the Skyliner for 2 parks. Keep in mind that (the last I heard of) Pop does not run busses to Epcot and DHS or if they do it is every hour. You would need to walk over to AOA to get a bus, I believe. I know that on average Pop rooms are around $30/night plus more expensive than Movies so for 3 rooms you are looking at around $100/night more expensive if you are the one paying for everyone.

We decided that we are going to go with ASMovies.
Better decor for the granddaughter and since this is going to be so expensive to begin with anywhere I can cut costs is helpful!
Thanks for the input!!

Have you checked that your dates don’t overlap with the maintenance work on the Skyliner? I do really like Pop but the adults will probably appreciate the theme more than the 4 year old. You could walk over to AoA though.

I haven't been - so forgive me if this is dumb/more obvious if you have - but will this affect the AoA line? I had booked a room on the Disney site and since it talked about CB, Riviera, and Epcot - I assumed it would still work from AoA but now I'm wondering if that's true.

The skyliner goes from AoA/Pop to CBR to Rivera to Epcot, or AoA/Pop to CBR to DHS. The CBR to Epcot portion will be down 1/23 - 1/28. So you won't be able to fully get to Epcot via the skyliner during that time. You would be able to make it to Hollywood Studios. To get to Epcot I would assume you hop a bus once you get to CBR, or just take the Epcot bus from AoA.

If the skyliner is down, I believe buses start running to the parks from POP

Got it and this is perfect (I just wanted to ride it with the kids once or so - we're renting DVC for a week but I decided to come in the night before and thought Pop/AoA would be a decent place for the night before.
