Wondering if anyone arounf here has toured the Parks in the Birkenstock, all-plastic sandals the make for beach fun. I have tried on the Airwalks and two styles of Crocs and can not get anything that fits right. I'm thinking of trying the Birkenstock/Betula or whatever brand....anyone wear them all day? How did the footsies fair by the end of a long hot day? Blisters? I have worn my regular Birks to DLR but they don't do well if they get wet as they stay wet forever and they didn't seem quite soft enough, more like I knew I have been walking on pavement all day.

any comments?

I have a pair of those that I LOVE! I bought them about 5 years ago and have worn them on every vacation since that time. They've been to water parks, amusement parks, and on a cruise.

I'm a HUGE Birk fan and wear them almost exclusively in the summer. I find the waterproof ones to be almost as comfortable as the leather - definitely more comfortable when wet.

FYI - I do NOT own a pair of Crocs and never will.

I may be confused. I only buy non-leather shoes, which I believe Birk calls Birkis. They also sell an all plastic-rubber water type sandal. I have a pair of those as well. While they are comfortable, they blistered my feet badly when wet. These are a 3 or so year old model, maybe they're better now.

I have never gotten a blister from Crocs.

Mine are at least 5 years old and I don't see anything just like them on the website. My do have the "nobby-thingies" on the footbed but not as many as the current models. I think that helps keep them from slipping off your feet when they are wet. They dry super fast so I've never had any problem with blisters.

I love Birkenstock and have tons of them. I do not like the real leather ones - I prefer the Birkoflor which has kind of a flannel backing. I can wear those for miles and miles.

The all plastic/rubber Birks (no cork) rub my feet and cause hot spots. I am not prone to blisters at all, but these cause problems and are not as comfortable as the standard Birks for me.

I've worn the Crocs too with no problem. To me the regular Birks have the best support, but they should not get wet.

I also wear Birks exclusively. I own a pair of Birkis Caribbeans which I wear all summer, and on my Orlando vacations. They are thong style, and it took a while to get used to the toe separater (a day or so) but after that they were great! I do not like Crocs - they did nothing to help my plantar fascitis, and hurt my feet after wearing them for prolonged periods of time.

I'll have to try those Caribbeans. I haven't bought any Birks for a couple of years because I have so many. I've been "collecting" them for years, and they wear forever. So now I have an excuse to buy some more.

The all vinyl ones that gave me problems were the ones with 3 straps. They didn't bother the bottoms of my feet - just the sides. They were great for going to the pool, but I could not walk long distances in them.

Try this place for the Caribbeans. They have many different colors (and other Birk styles) which I rarely see on any other site. They are in Germany, but they are prompt. Make sure to change the currency to US dollar to get the accurate price for us in the US.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the link. I found a pair that I really like (Duchess) but they are $233 for a pair of flip flops.

Are the Birkenstock's as comfortable & soft as the Crocs? I wear Birkenstock for Dress but find the shoes hard. I have arthritis & the cushion of the Croc helps. :yay:

hi - where can i find the waterproof styles in the us or online??? thanks!!

If you do a search on Birkenstock you will get many sites listed.
