Is anyone else having the experience of never quite getting the same quote for the same room or package?

In January when I booked room only with an AP, I got one price over the phone, had another in my email confirmation, and something totally different (and higher!) when I got to the hotel. Fortunately, I had printed out my confirmation and they fixed it, but not before charging my credit card for the balance four times before crediting it back.

This weekend I booked a package for August. I had checked the price on line (with someone else's computer because, for some reason, I can never get it to work on my Mac) and had a quote of a bit over $2800. On the phone, I got $2981 and change--still within range, so I booked it figuring I can change it if a special rate or free dining comes out later. Then my emailed confirmation showed $2781 and change--$200 less, not that I'm complaining.

I can't be the only one who's getting these price fluctuations. What's up?

When you buy a package the computer automatically applies insurance. Most likely that is what caused the changes. I would check to see if insurance is not added to your package. That would make the difference around the $200 mark. Whenever I do a quote online I take it to the end, then remove the insurance and update.

Was the $2781 minus your $200 deposit? That could easily be the difference.
