All our ghosts have been dying to meet you… Pre-Trip: Update & costume tweaks 9/20

Fantastic shots of real life! Love the picture of your parents.

I'm envious....you can sew. :thumbsup2

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is the main attraction on the docket today!

I think I'll let us sleep in a little bit this morning and I'm looking at the possibility of vising the fishing hole at POR. Ryan enjoys fishing and you can rent a pole and bait for $4.50/30 minutes. Even if we fished for an hour, it's less than $20 and gives him a chance to do something he'd enjoy. (then,as my dad said, I dangle the 'bait' that you can do bigger, badder fishing excursions to start planting the seeds for planning the next visit - we'll 'hook' him as a Disney fan yet! :lmao:)

ahem. Sorry for the bad pun interlude.

Actually, no I'm not, they were pretty good bad puns.

We do have an 11:30am ADR at Sci-Fi Drive in. This is a new to me restaurant, but I love a good burger and milkshake and the theming seems really, really fun. I'm thinking we'll go over to DHS and see if we can get on a couple things (Star Tours, ToT, RnR would all be great choices), have a little lunch and go back to POR. A nap and/or pooltime may be on the agenda and then it'll be time to get ready for MNSSHP!

I LOVE MNSSHP. Yes, it is the only hard ticket WDW event that I have been to. Yes, Fall is the only time of year I've ever been to WDW. BUUUT fall & MNSSHP are my favorite time to be there :upsidedow

The decorations, the lighting, the parade, the music, the villans show, the fireworks, the characters, the other guests - the atmosphere is ELECTRIC. The character interactions when you're dressed up are the BEST.

2007:
Prince Phillip and I had a whole conversation about how long it must have taken to ride Phillipe all the way there from Michigan (a long time, horses needs breaks to eat, drink and rest up!) and what the Beast was up to that night (it was rainy, he didn't want to get his fur wet)

2009:

My girlfriends and I all decided to go as the 'before' version of our favorite princesses (and each made our own costume)

Snow, meet Snow

Snow looked at my friend Eren, paused thoughtfully and said: hmmmm, you know, I have a dress that looks JUST like that!

Cindy, your Stepmother and Stepsister would like to see you

As my friend Holly walked up, before she even got to the, Lady Tremaine began barking orders: where is the laundry?! did you get the dishes done? why aren't you curtseying? Save time, curtsey to me while I'm talking to you!

They had us all in stitches. Eren was also able to meet the Evil Queen after the Villans show while I staked out our parade spot. She said that as she walked up, EQ gave her a very icy look up and down and was completely in character.

If you're an adult and have reservations about dressing up - give it a try. Characters will absolutely play off of whatever your dressed as and it's even more fun if you're from their lexicon. In 2009 Gaston wasn't greeting, so I didn't have anyone from my 'world' to play with. It was hard to break away from going as Belle this year on account of that, but the costume I'm doing this year is one I've wanted to do for a while and also has a counterpart that works for Ryan.

There are two different magic shots available at MNSSHP that will be perfect for us though and it sounds like there are now a couple of performers who sit outside our attraction that we may need to try to find as well.

We'll be planning on getting to MK around 4. Lunch was purposely early today so we could grab some counter service in MK before the party was fully underway. Probably CHH or Pecos Bill's - we'll save Casey's as a mid-party snack!

I think I'll start dropping hints about who we'll be - if you want to guess, PM me!

Hint 1: Our characters are both brown haired - no hair dye or wigs needed for either of us!

Thanks PiO! Admittedly, I was thinking of what both you and DaveInFallsChurch would be able to do with your camera skills and the sailboats, but I tried my best!

It's funny, 5 or 6 years ago I never would have thought that I'd sew as one of my main hobbies! But now there are always multiple projects in process and lots of fabric everywhere. LOTS of fabric everywhere....sigh... I blame the Gremlins.

I just love how the characters are always on their game! Those are some great interactions you and your friends had at past MNSSHP. :thumbsup2

As for your costumes, I can't venture a guess yet. But am very curious!

Lady Tremaine & the stepsisters are such a hoot! I love that the characters interact with people of all ages.

Hmmm, I don't think I can make a guess on your character yet, but I'm looking forward to more hints!

I love meeting characters in general, but they way they play with the character that you're dressed up as just takes it to another level of fun.

I think I'll put a hint at the end of each update now and once I start work, will try to post some teaser pictures!

The Tremaines might be some of my favorites to meet, because they are always on their game and hilarious. I think that adults in costume at the parties might be a little easier to interact with just because it gives them something straight away to work with, but on the whole I haven't found character meets to be awkward.

I think I'll continue the hints, it'll be fun to come up with them and we'll see how long it takes for someone to piece it together!

:lmao::lmao:

That's awesome!!! We are going with the Peter Pan theme, so unfortunately our villain won't be able to talk to us, but we're hoping to still meet Captain Hook after the mix & mingle to see what happens!

I'm so excited about our first party! I can't wait to see what you have chosen for your costumes. :goodvibes

Well you'll still have a villan to play with at least! And you'll get great pictures :) MNSSHP is the BEST! The first one that I attended with my parents in 2007 had a huge chunk of time that was downpouring - even with losing about an hour or so of party time, we still thought it was worth every penny. The 2009 party had fantastic weather and I loved it even more. It's so much fun - and on both accounts, I don't know that we did a lot of rides. The big focus was characters (get in line around 630 or so for Snow & the dwarves if that's on your checklist), the parade and the fireworks. Anything else that fit in was icing on the cake!

:welcome: Glad to make new friends - and I like your handle - Country Bears is a favorite of my dad's!

:yay: for free dining and the kissy sound in Dale's suit=

Dale was seriously adorable!

Sounds like you ladies had a GREAT MNSSHP. I like that your costumes are themed, but still simple.

Good hints for your costume, but I don't have any guesses yet!

Hi Abby!!
Well better late than not at all, I am here!

What a great TR you have going here. As a parent I absolutely love reading and hearing about all of your fond WDW memories! Oh, there are some really nice pics from 2007 included as well as our most recent, (ARGH)!!!

Keep up the great job!

:thumbsup2

Finally back and caught up - you have made significant progress here Abster! And rope drop at MK after Chef Mickey's should be easy - we'll take the walkway over, nice and easy.

I'll keep waiting for hints as well.

I like Sci Fi Diner; but I stuck with the burger. I know that there are inconsistent reviews of this place; but I have to admit I enjoyed the burger there. Hope it works out for you too.

That was our plan - we wanted something that went together, would be comfortable to walk around in and wouldn't be super involved to make. We got great reactions from CMs as well as the characters - we were out of the box, but not obscure.

Hi Mom! Thanks for joining in :) things should start picking up over here between now and the trip - lots going on!

Hi! :wave2: Did you guys both get caught up and post while sitting next to each other on the couch watching the Tigers game last night? haha :rolleyes1
If we make rope drop, great! But I also don't feel like rushing through CM's for it either. I'm good either way!

I'll keep waiting for hints as well.

Agreed - the reviews are really all over the place, but the consensus does seem to be get the burger. I think it gets wonky when you start straying away from that ... So burger it will be! (and a shake)

More hints to come!

Day 7 means that we are definitely in the home stretch of our trip :sad1:

But, we have a fantastic line up for today!

8:05am is our breakfast ressie at Crystal Palace! We did this breakfast in 2007 and I'm a big fan, but I'm pleased to report that this was one of Ryan's selections! While I love characters and character meals, I didn't want to force Ryan into a bunch of them if he decided that it wasn't really up his alley.

Now, if you remember back to the beginning of this pre-trippie, Ryan didn't make it very far into the menus before decided that 'research' made him hungry and we needed to break for dinner. I took a different tactic for menu review part 2. I would throw out food types, themes, locations and narrow it down based on. When we got to character meals, I tried to tread lightly and was pleasantly surprised when he said he was completely ok with it and hey, the 100 Acre Gang would be fun (breakfast lasagna may have helped close the sale)

I'm hoping to snag Tigger ears on a headband to wear for this meal :)

I anticipate going directly to New Fantasyland after we're done eating. If I haven't gotten Enchanted Tales with Belle done by then, this will be the morning to do it. I intend to volunteer for a role and hope to be selected - the only guests who get to get their picture taken with Belle after the show are the ones who 'help' with the story telling. There is also a special photopass card and a commemorative bookmark. I'm sure that I have the capability to play a very compelling salt shaker! :lmao:

Hopefully we'll also get to meet Gaston! And try LeFou's brew.

Time to reveal another Disney shameful secret - I haven't been on Dumbo. Honestly, the line has always been so long that I haven't wanted to bother. With the two rides now, perhaps it moves faster. This is still one that I feel like I could take or leave, but if we can walk on, then we'll walk on. I also just want to check out Storybook Circus - the theming just looks fantastic!

I'm pretty sure that this may be an all-day MK day, but since we'll just have been in MK the night prior for MNSSHP, we may decide to take a break and go back to the resort or park hop. One way or the other, I will be changing for dinner as I have a special Disneybound outfit planned.

If you haven't figured it out by now, Beauty and the Beast is my favorite - Belle is my homegirl! There was one, and only one reservation, of any importance for this trip. Not getting an ADR here would have been a make or break moment.

Be Our Guest.

I am so, so, so very much looking forward to setting foot in this place! I want to hear the suits of armor whisper, I want to be fully immersed and in chills walking into the ballroom for the first time. I want to see the enchanted rose.
I'm hoping that we will also eat lunch here during the trip as well, because I want to be able to explore all of the rooms which I think will be easier during the lunch period.

I'll do a clothing post once I get through all of our day plans, but I have a great yellow dress to wear for dinner - hopefully it looks nice in pictures with the Beast in his study!

In all honesty, being in this restaurant may bring a few tears - I've just loved this movie for so long, that being able to step right into it will be pretty special.

Wishes, will of course, be on the schedule for the evening as well. It will be a very full, very lovely Magic Kindgom kind of day!

Crystal Palace and BOG - doesn't get much better than that at MK!

I won't hold it against you about the lack of rides on Dumbo considering my recent confession of Disney shame ;)

I'm so excited to be trying to BOG as well in October. Like you, want to make sure to soak up all of the details!

I wasn't lucky enough to snag an ADR at BoG; so we'll see what happens. I don't know if our schedule will allow us to line up at 10.30 am either.

I completely understand how you feel about walking into the castle and getting lost in the experience. Happy you were able to snag the ressie. :goodvibes

Pre rope drop breakfast at Crystal Palace is great. Not much beats walking down an empty main st.

Loving all the Beauty and the Beast love in New-Fantasyland. She's my favorite princess too. Got to take a picture with her before breakfast at Akershus...Needless to say I have the goofiest smile on my face...and yes I am an adult :P
