All our ghosts have been dying to meet you… Pre-Trip: Update & costume tweaks 9/20

I can't wait to eat at BOG also! I don't know why it took them so long to create it, but I'm so glad they did! It should be amazing!

I wasn't lucky enough to snag an ADR at BoG; so we'll see what happens. I don't know if our schedule will allow us to line up at 10.30 am either.

Hopefully you'll be able to fit it in - with your camera skill, I know you'd get some really gorgeous pictures! (plus the food sounds tasty too)

I completely understand how you feel about walking into the castle and getting lost in the experience. Happy you were able to snag the ressie. :goodvibes

Thanks! I'm so excited for this one!

Pre rope drop breakfast at Crystal Palace is great. Not much beats walking down an empty main st.

Loving all the Beauty and the Beast love in New-Fantasyland. She's my favorite princess too. Got to take a picture with her before breakfast at Akershus...Needless to say I have the goofiest smile on my face...and yes I am an adult :P

*sigh* I do love a sunny morning on an empty main street! :cloud9:
I'm such a nerd meeting my favorite characters! It's like I automatically (automagically?! ha!) become 5 again!

The whole New Fantasyland area just looks so amazing - I'm looking forward to all of it, but the BatB area most of all! In some ways I guess I'm glad they waited - the technology and effects wouldn't have been possible a few years ago.

Our last full Disney Day. :guilty:

That's always a hard one, isn't it? The evil return tags for ME have been dropped off by one of Satan's minions over night and are ready to greet you on your way to breakfast.

I'm admittedly not sure what direction we'll be headed in this morning. I'm thinking we may start off the day at either MK or DHS, spend the afternoon Food & Wine-ing it up in Epcot and then we'll take a break to go back to the resort and get ready for dinner.

You see, in my efforts to bring Ryan over to the Disney dark side (we have cookies. Carrot cake cookies actually.) I wanted to expose him to the full range of Disney-ness: from character dining to F&W to MK parties to shows to fine dining. While the characters and rides are a blast, there is so much more to Disney than just that - there's way more available for adults than people realize!

Our final dinner reservation of the trip will be an 8pm ADR at Narcoosee's! This is a new restaurant for me, but it's been on my radar since 2007 (LOBSTER!! ALMOND CRUSTED CHEESECAKE!! LOBSTER!!)
It'll be timed perfectly to be able to watch Wishes that evening as well. It should be a fitting way to cap off our first WDW trip together.

I'm guessing we'll take our time getting back to the resort, soaking up the last bits of evening Disney magic.

Hopefully by this point Ryan will have fallen head over heels for our favorite Mice and we'll already be trying to figure out a return trip! :rotfl:

Sorry for the lack of pictures - but I didn't have much that went with this update! One more day of plans to write out and then we're done to the nitty-gritty trip prep and to-do lists!

So, I forgot to give you a hint in the last installment, so I'll give two today. As a reminder, please don't post your guesses - please PM me!

MNSSHP Costumes Hint 2: While our characters are strongly intertwined, it's highly unlikely that we've ever met!

MNSSHP Costumes Hint 3: Ryan can keep his beard - it matches his characters quite well!

Hahaha! That is a perfect description! Seriously... What an awful job delivering disappointment to guests!

Narcoosses! Seems like a great way to end your trip! I've never been either and have an ADR for our upcoming trip too! LOBSTER is mainly my reasoning too :)

it can't be a Disney cast member delivering news that awful. Maybe they contract Universal employees to do the ME delivery?

Ryan doesn't get how I can decide what I want to eat so far in advance. But let's be honest, I've wanted that lobster and cheesecake since 2007. For once, he won't have to ask the waitress for "just a couple more minutes" because I can't make up my mind! :lmao:

I had a guess as to what your costumes are but I'll keep it to myself. :scratchin

Good luck with your BOG reservation! I think since we got to add an extra day to the beginning of our trip, we're going to make Day #1 a MK day so we can attempt BOG for lunch.

Can't wait to see your handiwork!

Feel free to send a PM if you want - I'll say yes or no, as long as you promise not to reveal it here!

I'm glad we have dinner at BOG, but I also intend to line up for lunch one of the days as well. I want some extra time to explore the three rooms and will feel less awkward doing that during lunch since the turnover will be quicker and I wont feel like I'm being as disruptive!

Oh no, last day :( I find the last day hard because we can never narrow down our list of all the things we want to do one more time so we spend the day park hopping like crazy.

Narcoossee's sounds like a great meal to end the trip, who can argue with lobster?

We are going with the Peter Pan theme, so unfortunately our villain won't be able to talk to us, but we're hoping to still meet Captain Hook after the mix & mingle to see what happens!

Just a thought - As long as you are already going to have PP themed costumes, that might be fun to wear on the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage, which, in addition to getting a great view of the Wishes from out on the water (and Electric Water Pageant also) and a full desert party beforehand, you get to meet Captain Hook and Mr. Schmee, including photo ops. And Patch the Pirate will keep you entertained once onboard.
pirate:

If you haven't figured it out by now, Beauty and the Beast is my favorite - Belle is my homegirl! There was one, and only one reservation, of any importance for this trip. Not getting an ADR here would have been a make or break moment.

Be Our Guest.

Ah - and it is worth looking forward to - one of our prize catches last trip. A few appetizers, if you will allow:

And indeed -

And don't forget to thank The Beast for a lovely meal!

Would you mean this fellow? Such a charmer! Thought that I may have lost my bride for a moment!

Oh goodness me! Yes he was such a charmer and totally character plus, plus. Thanks for posting the pic and making my heart go pitter-patter!! :)

We have a first place winner in the "Guess Abby & Ryan's MNSSHP costume" Game.

Congrats to DaveInFallsChurch for nailing it on the first try! Dave wins a mystery prize, but this doesn't mean the fun is over. I will not be revealing the costumes here until they are done, so everyone can feel free to continue to guess via PM.

Day 9: The Day of Mixed Emotions

We are fortunate in that the non-stop flights available to/from Flint/Orlando mean that we get in early enough to have a pretty decent first day of park time and also can schedule a morning in a park on departure day. We won't need to catch ME until mid afternoon-ish as our flight won't take off until 730 or so.

The morning will start with a quick breakfast, packing up our bags to drop at bell services and officially checking out. Sigh.

As far as park time, I do like MK being the last park I visit on a trip, but we'll see what we're feeling on that particular morning. I'd also be nice to swing by EoS in DTD to grab a sandwich for the flight home.
EoS Hawiian sandwich > airport food.

Then there's always the last minute merchandise grab because you irrationally think that spending another $150 on stuff will help prolong the Magic. It doesn't, it just adds to your credit card company's magic, but we all do it anyways. Just in case it might actually work.

And then before we know it, it'll be time to wait out front of POR, catch ME and go back to the real world. At least you can kill some time attempting to shove your last minute purchases in your already full suitcase to distract you from the overwhelming sadness of leaving the Happiest Place on Earth.

Unless of course, a high ranking Disney cast member is so struck by an accidental, witty conversation with me that they offer me a job on the spot and I only have to return to MI briefly to pack up the cat and my clothes.

A girl can dream.....

Let's keep the costume guesses coming. Just because Dave outsmarted ALL of you (mom & dad excluded, since you both already knew the plan) doesn't mean you can't keep playing! PM your guesses!

Costume Hint 4: it's always important to pay attention to your surroundings ... to bad my character didn't really listen to that life lesson ;)

Ahhh, your trip is so close! How exciting to have such a low numbered countdown.

I have to say that your quilts look AMAZING! When I hear the word "quilts," I imagine more of the raggedy, frou-frou type deals, but yours are GORGEOUS. How much do you make when you sell them? How long does it take you to finish one? Your costumes are also so beautiful. Very curious to know who you'll be this year!

Good luck finding Tigger ears! I wanted those badly a few trips ago and looked everywhere but couldn't find them. I even asked CMs, but they said they haven't seen them. The one girl I knew on the DIS who had them might have gotten them in Paris. Here's hoping they release them again!

Hi! :welcome: - yeah, the countdown has seemed to shrink quite suddenly! It's a little scary considering how much is still left on my to-do list.

Thank you for your sweet words on the quilts! I rarely make them for sale, as they're so time consuming - pricing them appropriately results in a price point most buyers won't pay. While there has been a shift in appreciation for handmade, it's hard to compete when people are still accustomed to paying $60 for a "quilt" at Wal-Mart or Target. I primarily make them as gifts and I love seeing them in use! I like to say giving a quilt is like giving someone a hug they can receive over and over again :goodvibes The time it takes to make one start to finish depends on the size. I can do a baby quilt over the period of a weekend if I need to, but I usually sew in 30-60 minute chunks due to my schedule.

I've run across a couple of pairs of Tigger ears on eBay and should probably go ahead and buy them. I've been thinking about them for so long, I'm just hesitating on spending the money for some reason :confused3 They should definitely release them again and Marie ears on a headband like they have at Disney Hong Kong!!

EDIT: Just bought Tigger ears on eBay. Bad day at work = buying Tigger ears.

...otherwise known as the "To-Do List"

*sigh*

I know that I only do it to myself, but I have a tendancy to think that I'm capable of getting much more done than my schedule could possibly allow. Just figured I'd throw it out there - I'm aware that I'm overambitious and possible missing a couple screws upstairs.

So, here is my DIY to-do list for the trip

  • My MNSSHP Costume
  • Ryan's MNSSHP Costume
  • Zebra print skirt for AK
  • Modifying Minnie Ears for Interchangeable Bows
  • Various Bows for the Modified Ears
  • Spraypaint a 9" Vinylmation for our Autograph "book"
  • Chevron print dress for one of the nicer dinners
  • F & W checklist shirts for Ryan & I
  • Mousekeeping Envelopes

Knowing me, I'm sure I'll manage to keep adding to the list. It's always worth it at the end of it all, but I'll make my self a little nuts trying to get it all done. Just picture me doing this:

Wow, so many DIY to-dos! I thought I was overwhelmed because I need to go to Bed Bath & Beyond and Target before our trip :rotfl:

and we're not even touching on the twin size, hand embroidered graduation quilt that is now overdue, the baby quilt for a shower on 9/7, fulfilling orders for my little side business... and, ummm, general life stuff. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

and no, none of the things on the Disney DIY list are even remotely started. Well, I've bought materials and sewing patterns. That's about it at the moment. It'll all work out, right? :upsidedow

That's a fair bit of to-do's. Hope you get it all done. Even though it seems like a lot of work, at least it is FUN work! :thumbsup2
