Yikes! get out the water wings!!!
It has not been a good situation
; our school district is finally back in session today but neighboring districts are closed the rest of the week due to damage and/or students being flooded out and in shelters. DH works in road management for the county (he happens to be on medical leave now; knee replacement surgery last week) and just spoke with his boss. In the section of the county they're responsible, out of 240 miles of roads, they have 169 miles in need of repair
. There are washouts on State roads that are 60' long, 23' deep; bridges are gone...washed away. Disaster declaration has been signed but long road of recovery ahead.
Some of the residents in the new neighborhoods have had flooding problems but 75% of us are "high and dry".

It was for a lot of our county residents; we're lucky...we're on "high ground" but it was pretty difficult sleeping early Monday morning!
The sky was never dark; constant lightening and really loud thunder...and the rain
... the last time I "heard" it rain that hard was during Hurricane Carla some 50+
years ago. But ... after another round of storms this morning...we had SUNSHINE
the rest of the day!
