Hi Everyone!

We're finally caught up on the show, after returning from our Mediterranean Cruise on the Magic..........and now I'm trying to catch up with everyone's posts!

You SSW Ladies are so lucky - you'll have a great time, as always!!!

I had a feeling that the man whom Annie was calling was her father (not another ex-husband or ex-boyfriend)............but I wonder what the "issue" could be that she believes is "so bad" that she would "lose her family" if they found out? With all of the "darkness" in Ryan's past, I can't imagine him not "forgiving" her for anything (........although doesn't he wonder why he's never met her family - with the exception of Emma - before, or why she never mentions her childhood??)!

I'm sad to see that Di is leaving - after the whole "Dixie-imposter-thing", I thought that her character had a lot of potential and she always plays her scenes very naturally and does a good job. I'm sorry to see that she's going.

Also, I wonder how much longer Babe will be on the show if Jamie is relocating to the West Coast? I would be sorry to see her go, as well.

I guess that that would leave Amanda to run Fusion by herself, if Kendall is busy taking care of her children, Greenlee has essentially been "excommunicated", Di is leaving, and Babe might leave?? Or maybe Ava will become a big "corporate executive" (in addition to being a "super model") and will take over the entire business, herself??

I think it's nice that the DePaivas' son will be appearing on AMC / New Beginnings.

I really hope the doc isn't a quack. The Holistic healing community could use a little show of support. But, he probably is.

Comings and goings...

Newcomers Billy Miller and Sterling Sulieman will join the cast of All My Children in contract roles in the next few weeks. The two new roles are the first signs that the show's new head writers are starting to incorporate their own visions into the show's stories. Miller will play "Wes," a new love interest for a character already on the canvas. Sulieman, meanwhile, will play "Dre" and it looks as if he may get involved in a love triangle.

Real-life couple Justin Bruening and Alexa Havins are both expected to exit All My Children by the end of the year. Bruening has already taped his final scenes with the ABC soap and Havins is expected to exit when her contact expires later this year.



Bruening's desire to leave All My Children hasn't exactly been a secret. The actor, who got his first big break as a model for Abercrombie & Fitch, has been the subject of exit rumors for the better part of 2007. During his four-year run with All My Children, some viewers have felt Bruening has been overly critical of his character and story - while other have said that the actor was merely echoing their own thoughts.


While Bruening is not the first actor to play Jamie Martin - he's actually number seven (eight if you count a pair of twins) on the roster. He is, however, one of the longest-running Jamies in AMC history. Bruening came aboard All My Children at a time when the show needed to "age" the character of Jamie; Jamie was aged from a high schooler to a college student. Other actors to have held down the part include Sean Marquette (1994-1998), Zachary Kady (1998-2001), Todd Harrison (2001-2002) and Micah Alberti (August 22, 2002 to August 2003).


Bruening is married to co-star Alexa Havins (Babe Chandler). Astute viewers will notice that the show's current storyline has Jamie and Babe once again getting closer. It is widely expected that this storyline could have facilitated an exit for both stars. However, soapcentral.com has learned that AMC is planning to recast the role of Babe in the event that Havins does, in fact, exit the show. Officially, there is "no comment" from ABC about Havins' impending exit, but a set source says that it's virtually a done deal that Havins will exit when her contract expires.


Bruening has already taped his final All My Children scenes. He will last air on Friday, August 24th. At the current time, the show will not recast the role of Jamie.

Actress Sydney Penny recently ended her maternity leave and is expected back on All My Children by the end of this month. Despite having been off the set for nearly three months, the 36-year old actress has been relishing the time she has been able to spend with her new baby boy, Chasen.

On All My Children, Sydney Penny plays Julia Santos Keefer, who, coincidentally, has had a strong desire to have a baby of her own.

Her life has become more stable now that she has friends and a good job. It's everything she was missing during her 10 years [on the run from gangsters], yet there's still something missing, Penny said of her character, who was previously involved with Jamie Martin (Justin Bruening) and has an adopted daughter named Kathy.

Since the writers of the show decided not to write Sydney Penny's pregnancy into All My Children, Penny's Julia was said to be visiting the entire Santos clan in California in the hopes of introducing Kathy to the family.

Julia wants to make her life all about Kathy, Penny said, adding that Julia's relationship with her adopted daughter will be further explored in the fall. Another storyline that Penny said she is looking forward to is the possibility that Kathy is the long-lost daughter of Tad Martin (Michael E. Knight) and the late Dixie Cooney (Cady McLain).

Sydney Penny is scheduled to return to All My Children on August 31.

I think Zach was correct to be mad at Kendall.
Obviously she just was not thinking clearly.
If she was going to sneak him over to an alternative doctor, she should have at least waited until he was released from PVH.
She is under so much stress that she is not thinking clearly.

My Husband's opinion is exactly the opposite.

About the sleezy man who offered a contract to Ava...

What is his real name, and where have we seen him before ? A movie called "Brighton Beach Memiors" comes to mind, but DH thinks I must be wrong.

I agree with you. I felt that way too today. You guys must really be hating on Kendall (not that I am a fan of hers or anything). I guess I felt like she has been through the ringer and just wants to do something to fix things. I can't imagine being mad at my spouse when she is dealing with one child permanently deaf and the other dying. I would think he would be more comforting like "please, please come to me for help, you've been through so much, you can't do it alone" I could see if she went out for a beer or to do something destructive. It’s not like Zach makes super wise choices himself all the time, right. For gosh sake he might have impregnated his ex as a favor.

I am not a regular here though so I am sure you guys have your reasons for your opinions. Thanks for listening to mine.

You know, at first I thought he was being hard on Kendall & then the more I thought of it I changed my mind.

I kept thinking she has one son in NICU, the other son still in a fragile condition, but she took upon her selfish self to take Spike from the hospital & just go off. Didn't answer calls, no work to anyone about anything.

I think Zach a good reason to be angry & upset with her. I know if my DH would pull a stunt like that I'd be fuming!!!!!

Nope. I thought Zach was RIGHT ON!!! How much more supportive could he have been through all this?! She has been practically ignoring Ian since he was born. And, although they tried to explain it during last Friday's episode when everyone was expressing their innermost feelings, I think hers fell short on her fear of being close to her premie son.

Poor little guy. I don't read the spoilers but I sure hope little Ian pulls through all this!

Just read in the Aug 28th issue of ABC Soaps in Depth how much Alicia Minshew is enjoying this storyline. (And, IMO, she is doing a phenomenal job!) Cameron Mathison told her, "For someone who doesn't have children, you are connecting with this story like I've never seen you connect."

BTW, also read recently in a previous issue of ABC SiD that Sydney Penny and Susan Lucci are the only mothers in the cast! Lots of dads but only 2 moms!

I mean its TERRIBLE that Spike is deaf, but its not like its a life or death situation that need immediate attention.
I would think your severly premature baby's health is a little more important at this time. Ryan is such a hands on Dad, I am sure he could take care of getting Spike the help he needs now while Kendall is there for her newborn.
She is practically ignoring Ian.

Sometimes, I just want to slap Kendall-she is way too headstrong!

I wonder what the deal is with Annie? I cant wait to see how this pans out. Remember all the tests she had to do to prove her daughter was hers even though they didnt share DNA? I wonder if that has anything to do with it, maybe she really isnt her mom??

Did you catch what Dr. Hillyard (??) said to Kendall as she left his office? About what a big commitment she was making, how much work it would be, and how she'd have to concentrate solely on Spike?

I'm sure I wasn't the only one rolling her eyes, thinking "great, this will just encourage Kendall to keep ignoring Ian".

And what's up with giving Ian such a normal name? With a brother called Spike, you'd think they'd have named him Butch or Rex or Snoopy or something. It always sounds so "off" to me to hear Kendall say "Spike and Ian".

No, I didn't think Zach was too hard on her...I think he wasn't hard enough.
He is very, very understanding of Kendall, and that is why she does some of this crap.
I think Thorsten Kaye has done an AMAZING job with this storyline. Granted, I think he is the best actor on AMC on a daily basis, but he really has been outstanding with this. I got to meet him at SSW last year, and for a Detroit Red Wings fan, he is a really cool guy. Easy on the eyes, too!

"We're setting up some things that are going to really explode, setting up relationships that are really going to blossom-or in some cases, fracture," says Co-Head Writer James Harmon Brown. "And as we get toward the end of October and into November, " adds his writing partner Barbara Esensten,"it's going to be, 'Oh My God!'"

Zach/Kendall: "Kendall is dealing with Spike's situation pretty much along the lines of denial, denial and finally kicking and screaming into acceptance," offers Brown. Hannah returns with a mysterious agenda and says Esensten, "Whatever happened that night [when she asked Zach to impregnate her] is going to affect his relationship with Kendall."

Jack/Erica : "They love each other, they are meant to be together and they know that deep down," asserts Brown. "But they will really be tested by all the things that will be going on with their children."

Annie/Ryan:"The fall with Annie is going to be the discovery of her past, who she is, which is going to challenge the Annie/Ryan relationship for some time," Brown notes.

Julia/Tad/Krystal/Adam: Says Esensten, "Just from how [Julia] reconnects with Tad, you will know where the story is going." Moving into November sweeps, the "Kathy is Kate" secret is poised to pop and will, according to Brown, affect "the Adam/Krystal relationship and the Krystal/Tad relationship."

Greenlee/Aidan: "You can tell by the way that they look at each other and depend on each other that there are feelings there," Esensten says.

Amanda/JR/Ava/Jonathan/Lily/Babe/Wes: "JR is going to be involved with Ava and Amanda," Brown begins, "and trying to get his own business going, which puts him at odds with Babe, "whose involvement with newbie Wes incites JR's jealousy. "We think it's a surprisingly poignant story that's going to play for some time; It's also going to involve Lily."

Colby/Sean: "We want to establish them within the group [of teens, which expands to include Dre, Corrina, Ren]," Brown explains. "Colby is going to be part of the whole Tad/Krystal/Adam business."

So help me, if you don't stop putting that stupid a** show with the morons that can't act on instead of AMC, I am going to get rid of you all together. Look, I have a Bachelor's Degree, I will eventually figure out how to use my recordable dvd player, or God help me, I will get Tivo. It's bad enough that you switched Y&R to 11 PM and put DOOL on it's place (no offense DOOL fans, but after they killed off Bo and Hopes little boy, I swore off that show forever. I cried my heart out over that,) so now I have to watch Y&R on Saturday night. Seriously, I am going to start reading that six inch thick manual, and if you don''t knock off messing with my daily dose of Thorsten Kaye...OUT YOU GO!!!!
