All My Children Fans Revisted!! (still loving and hating our show)

I saw it too, it was a very dry kiss, TG! So, is Chris Stamp still ON the show, or what?

CAught today...I also am enjoying the twists and turns of the Michael/Kendall/Erica/Fusion plot...interesting.

I think Lena seems WAY too old for Binks...not just age-wise...Binks is a little whiney and cling-y, I mean, WHEN oh WHEN did Lena have time to touch Binks as deeply and spiritually as she implied in her little airport scene..so they had a couple of drinks at a pub, maybe I missed some crucial falling in love epis...

I wish Bianca and Lena would get DIFFERENT makeup artists...they're looking too SIMILAR in coloration (I know, random thought)...;)

APRILLE!!!! It is SO nice to see you. I hope you can pop in again soon to say hi. I Miss seeing you here woman. :)

I saw the kiss too, sure wasnt much of a kiss if you ask me. (not that I want to see them in a heavy lip lock or anything like that. Heck, I kissed my male gay friend this weekend and it was kinda like Lena & Binks kiss - NOT that long though. LOL ) Anyways, I am routing for them too. I just wonder how the 2 actors feel about this storyline, I wonder if they will take it further. In a way I think it would be a good thing, maybe it will open some peoples minds but then again I dont know how many "love" scenes I could endure.

Anyways, Faith, looks like it will be just you and I at SSW. If Aiden is there this year I am standing in his line - I will be the one tingling this time. :teeth:

Hey, where has Sarge been lately, or am did I miss him somehow?

Oh, I'm glad you bumped this Christine...I forgot to say hi to APRILLE!!!! My busy season ends in a few weeks too ...bring on the puke bags!!! OR these days...the NoDoz:rolleyes:;);).

I am still here.. Just like beetlejuice, except you only need mention my name once.. ;) I haven't posted much because I am over a week behind on the show and I didn't have anything timely to mention about it. We did watch today's episode, tonight though. My wife had heard all the 'hub-bub' about the kiss on the tv today and had to see what it was all about. All I have to say is, yawn..... The best part was my Mother in Law, who doesn't watch AMC, was with us when we watched it. She wanted to know about the girl and her mother (bianca and Lena..) My wife and I almost fell out of our chairs laughing.. And then I thought, well, Lena does look much more 'mature' than Bianca.. Maybe Erica is old enough to be Binky's grandma?

One other comment in regard to today's show.. How LOOOOOOOONG is this battling/bickering between Greenlee and Kendall going to go on. I heard their, I'm quiting, no I'M quitting argument today, and after over a week of not seeing the show I thought at first I was watching an old episode. They need to do something with that story and fast, it is really becoming stale and approaching rancid.

OK Christine, I will have BOTH Camera's ready!;) But, you never know, Aiden might be "kicked Off" by than, you never know, especially if Maroona gets her "memory" back!  Lil Boo-what about the puking smilies?;)

The local ABC station in NYC did a feature today on Carlos' refrigerator.  His real name is Maximillian but he goes by Max. Honest, they had a reporter and an organizational specialist sort out and clean his frig. He keeps strawberries on hand in case he has a date.

Hello AMC fans! I haven't been here in a long time since I gave up watching soaps a couple of months ago. But since today is cross thread visiting day, I thought I'd pop in and say hello to some old friends. I didn't read many of the posts, but the ones I did read, it sounds like the show is still the same old same old.

Hi Birthday-Buddy-Baboo! :)

Hey Everyone!

Friday's show was pretty good - not as good as AMC has ever been, but not bad, considering what they've given us lately (the teenyboppers notwithstanding - the only redeeming things about the Drone Chick-Sister Christian-Jamie scenes are the occasional funny lines by Reggie!). I'm glad that Kendall stood up to Michael (even though it seems like she got over him pretty quickly and accepted the fact that he was just using her, pretty quickly. I expected there to be more whining about betrayal, etc.) and that Greenlee showed her some compassion. They both really should have been there for Simone, though - Mia, too. On the other hand, Simone really needs to stop blowing off Kenny!

Pam - I totally forgot to watch the news segment with Carlos! I saw the preview for it, the day before, when they cleaned out the refridgerator of the lady from "Hairspray", but I forgot to watch, yesterday! :(

I suspect that Greenlee's telling Kendall "we need a new crop of men" will ultimately lead to that contest that we were reading about, months ago, where Kendall and Greenlee go to spring break in Florida, in search of "The Sexiest Man Alive"...........not really too excited about that prospect.........we're inundated with enough "Reality TV" in prime time - they should leave our soaps alone!

I may have some amusing AMC news for you all, tomorrow - I believe that I am going to see someone from AMC in person (maybe more than one), but I've been sworn to secrecy about where, when, and how. (I think you'll all get a laugh out of it when I tell you, though!) Will let you know tomorrow, though, and will try to get pictures, too! :)

Have a great weekend, Everyone! :)

‘AMC’ works to keep family man happy
by Nancy Reichardt
United Feature Syndicate

When we last talked to Vincent Irizarry it was 1997, and he had just started a three-month role as Dr. David Hayward on All My Children.

He laughs and says, “And here I am now, and I have been playing this same role again since June 1998.”

The actor did complete his three months and was offered a long-term contract, but he turned it down because of family obligations. How he ended up taking the role long-term is an interesting tale.

“The show did appreciate the potential of this character. So they made it happen. I was living in Los Angeles with my wife and a newborn when I took the short-term role. My daughter from a previous marriage (to soap actress Signy Coleman) lived three blocks away. She panicked. She remembered when I had moved back to New York City to do Guiding Light (the role of Nick McHenry). I did that for over four years. Even though she loves New York City, she feared the separation, so I promised her I would not be gone from her for more than the three months, and that, even then, we would both travel back and forth to see each other.”

He was good to his word even though he admits it was hard for an actor to turn down a contract with a wife and newborn and no job in Los Angeles.

“Five months later, Judy Wilson (casting director for AMC) called to ask what could they do to make this work. They asked what if Signey worked in New York City, and then she made it happen. Judy called the casting directors of all the New York City shows to say Signy was available. And Signy ended up on Guiding Light as Annie Dutton for a year. I returned in June of 1998 and am still here.”

During that time on GL Coleman met her current husband and has had another child as well. She and Irizarry now both live in New Jersey within 20 minutes of each other.

Irizarry has been front and center since he signed on, but he was surprised to learn he was to be involved in the return of Eva LaRue Callahan, who plays Dr. Maria Santos.

“I have to say that I am in a place where I just cannot wait until I read the next script. I love it,” he says.

Hey Everyone!

So sorry to keep you all in suspense! :( I have to preface this story by saying that unfortunately, I was not able to get pictures.....so you'll have to take my word for it!

A friend of my husband's and mine decided to take a stand up comedy class at Caroline's Comedy Club in NYC, as a lark. So he did, and one of his classmates was.........Michael Knight! :) (It was so funny when he told us, because Tad had just been on the Caroline Rhea show around that time, telling her how much he admired the fact that she was a successful stand up comedian and how much he wished that he had that talent.) Anyway, I've been hearing about my friend's experiences with Tad in his stand up class, over the past few months (apparently Tad is not as comfortable performing his own comedy material as he is with that which is scripted for him by the AMC writers, and was a lot less comfortable than all of the amateur performers in the class).

Anyway, the "graduation ceremony" of this class involved each member of the class getting up on stage at Caroline's and doing a 5 minute stand up routine. The show was only open to invited guests, not the public - that's why I was "sworn to secrecy" about it - my friend made me promise not to post that Tad would be performing as part of this "graduation ceremony" (sorry about that - I was dying to tell you all! :( ). So the show was yesterday, and my husband and I went, and sure enough, there was Michael Knight (looking a million times better in person than he does on TV, I might add!)! AND he was sitting at a table right behind ours, too (by himself, no less)! So, bold person that I am, I wandered over to say "hello" to him, and we had a really nice conversation. He told me that he actually wasn't going to be performing that day, because he had missed too many classes, didn't feel prepared, and planned to take the class again. He actually looked sort of nervous and intimidated - he said "this stuff is HARD!" I told him that he, of all people, does not need a class in comedy and that we all look forward to his scenes to cheer us up! Apparently, his stand up teacher made him totally rework his originally planned routine, which he said was all about his wife and his dogs. He said "people don't want to hear about that! Talk about the soap in your routine!" So Tad had to re-write the whole thing. Anyway, we chatted for a fairly significant amount of time (during which he was holding my hand, I must say! :) ) and I asked if he would pose for a picture with me. He promised to do so, after the show, because he didn't want to take attention away from his classmates who were going to be performing (which just shows what a nice and considerate guy he is). I sort of looked at him a few times, during the show, out of my peripheral vision, and he was really studying the show - watching his classmates techniques, paying attention. And he was very supportive and cheered very loudly for each one, which was very nice. After the show, though, I got swept up in the crowd of people congratulating the performers.......and Tad slipped out a side exit, so I never got to take my picture! :( But it was nice to speak with him, regardless, and I thanked him for calling me up on stage, signing my AMC book, and kissing me, the last time I saw him in person, in 1996!

(I've attached the link to that picture, again, below, if you'd like to see it - at least I can show you one picture, even if it is 7 years old!)

He just seems like a very nice, down to earth person. He was not inundated by fans, yesterday, and was not seeking attention at all - he was just there to support his classmates and be part of his class, which I thought was very nice. He was extremely thoughtful and appreciative, both times that I met him - it seems that he really appreciates people who take the time to talk to him and recognize his work. So if any of you have a chance to meet him at SSW, or elsewhere, please take the opportunity, 'cause he will be really friendly, pay attention to what you're saying, etc. - he'll be just like Tad!

Sorry again that I wasn't able to get a picture or 2, yesterday! :(

Hope that you all had a great weekend! :)

Lisa and Michael E. Knight 1996

Thanks for the great article about David, Aprille! And thanks again for scanning in my AMC pictures, so that I was able to provide the link, above! :)

That's so neat that the casting people were able to find Vincent's former wife a position in the East, so that he could be close to his daughter, and that his ex-wife met her current husband on that show, too! It sounds like everything worked out wonderfully for all of them - that's kind of a heartwarming story! And that's neat that they all live in the Garden State, too! :)

Once again, have a great day, Everyone! :)

OMG Lisa!!! You lucky dog!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc Not only have you been kissed by MEK but now you have carried on a conversation with him while he was holding you're hand!!! :::sigh::: I'm soooo jealous! :p ;)

Great story! I checked in at lunch just to see if you had posted anything yet and I'm glad I did! Thanks for sharing! :)
