Hi All My dh has offered to take me to an All Inclusive couples only resort for a delayed 10 year anniversary gift. Dos anyone have a rccomendation for a fun resort that is not too expensive? Has anyone been to Sandals are Superclubs who is willing to share their experience.
I know this isn't a Disney question but I a nt sure where else to turn.
Thanks to nyone who can help.
BTW by inexpensive I mean less than 2500 for a long 4 days weekend.

Sandals St. Lucia was AWFUL when we went. Every couple that we met there couldn't wait to leave. We've never gone back to any all-inclusives since, but I wanted to chime in that this place was just not for us. It was expensive and the food was pretty bad. Maybe we just went on an off-week or something, though. I thought that it was really expensive for what we got.

Thanks Chrissyk That is exactly the advice I am looking for. This is a once and a lifetime trip away from my kids and I really want to have a good time. We are doing a cruise with the kids in Nov so I thought this would be a good alternative because I won't feel bad seeing other people with their children. Thanks for your experience.

Where are you interested in visiting and where will you be flying from? Does the $2500 rule also apply to airfare? Once I know that, then I can make some suggestions. I usually promote Jamaica since I have been there a number of times but I would suggest staying away for now since they are in clean up mode from Ivan.

I went to an all inclusive in Nuevo Vallarta. It was nice, it wasn't a couples only resort though, more of a family resort. Personally I rather cruise than go to an all inclusive.

ME TOO!! ME TOO!! ME TOO!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: We went to Sandals in Ochos Rio in Jamacia for our honeymoon. It was actually nice....BUT, we just went on a cruise for our 10th anniversary last year to Bahamas....LOVED it!! Funny, DH asked me (right after cruise) if I'd rather do an all-inclusive again or a cruise instead.....my answer was cruise. Now we plan to get together with some family and do Disney cruise in a few years!! BTW, I did enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the Sandals and we found the food to be very good......omlet cooked to your order everyday? Don't get much better......

My husband and I went to Breezes Runaway Bay, which is an all-inclusive resort, in Jamaica this past March. We went on a Wednesday thru Sunday, and it was roughly $2,200. I loved it and can't wait to go back.

We were going to try Punta Cana, but the resort at which I wanted to stay was pretty far from the airport, and we would have lost a good portion of the arrival and departure days traveling.

Try the Riviera Maya (Playacar) in Mexico (about 50 minute ride south from Cancun airport). It is gorgeous and there are many all inclusives. We went to the all-inclusive "Iberostar Quetzal" in Playacar and loved it. Yes, we went with the kids, but there were MANY couples only and DH and I said we would love to go back there without the kids someday. Not all that expensive either. For the four of us spending eight nights/nine days at resort, airfare from JFK, and transfers to/from airport... it was under $4K! Definetly well worth it!!

Remembering from College days, Jamaica had some nice all-inclusives, Mexico had some nice ones too...I think the ones in Mexico were less expensive...

If you can swin a Disney Cruise that would be my sugestion... It may not be couples only, but if you have been married for 10 years do you really want a drunken weekend? That is what the all inclusive resorts are....

On the DCL, you have your meals with families that have similar children status (No Kids with them, Teenagers, Young kids) so if you and your hubby are there w/o kids, you don't see them too much. There is na gambling on board, and it is pure relaxation.
Ok, I'll stop the commercial...but I should point out that you should be able to find a good rate here on the Dis...

I am sure that this is common at many all-inclusives (the bars open at 10 AM!!), but this was not our experience. By the time we went, spring break was pretty much over, and there was a nice mix of younger and older people. There were definitely people "enjoying" themselves, but nothing overboard or out of control. :D

I second the opinion about the Riviera Maya, south of Cancun. There are TONS of all-inclusives in many price ranges and to suit various interests (adults only, family-oriented, etc.).

White sand beaches, turquoise water, palm trees . . . a little slice of heaven.

Plus, you can do as much or as little as you want on the Yucatan Peninsula. Lots of options.

We've been there 3 times, and will most certainly be back!! We've stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso (our overall favorite), the Iberostar Tucan, and the Barcelo Maya. All have their pros and cons. None were adults only because we had our teenagers with us. I can give you details on any of these resorts if you would like.

As far as excessive drunkenness goes, in the 3 times we've been there, I've only seen 1 woman who had consumed too much. Most people go for the beaches and the sun; not for the alcohol.

By the way, congratulations on your anniversary!

My DH and I went to Sandals Nigril in Jamaica for our honeymoon in 1999. We had a great time. Accomodations, food, everything was wonderful. We also did a 3 night Wonder cruise in April, which was beyond our expectations. Truthfully, we had soooo much fun on the cruise that I would pick the cruise over an all inclusive.

HTH

Forgot to add, Hedonism is right next door. You get the added treat of naked people parading, literally, over to Sandals and mooning everyone!!!:earseek: :crazy2:

Never done an all inclusive resort, but did a 7 day cruise on the Disney Magic and it was fantastic. I'd love to do it again.

My DH and I went to Cancun last November for our honeymoon. We stayed at Cancun Palace and it was all-inclusive and absolutely wonderful!!
They have many choices of things to do! There is a beautiful beach it is on and not crowded at all when we went!
There are several restaurants to pick from and the food was wonderful!
There are also really neat shows by their entertainment staff every night...lots of fun!

Then there are really neat flea markets - try Mercado 28...lots of wonderful things to buy!!
I would go again in a heartbeat!:sunny:

DH and I stayed all inclusive at the Grand Oasis in Cancun two years ago (wow time flies). We loved it and plan to go back sometime. We didn't have any problems with people who drank too much. And we loved our room right on the ocean. Now the regular Oasis I would probably stay away from. The nice thing is you can use all the Grand Oasis and Oasis ammenities but the Oasis people can't use the Grand Oasis stuff. The food was great. The staff wonderful (they knew us by name after a day, a few bucks here and there even though tips are included helps get you even better service!). I can't even remember how long we were there (at least 5 or 6 nights) and it wasn't that expensive (we only had to pay airfare for me, since DH had frequent flyer miles), the whole thing was under $2000.

Ok First Thank you thank you for the quick replies. Now let me give you some history. We (as a family) have been on 5 DCL cruises and our 6th is Halloween. We do one every year (one year 2) on the Magic as a family. THat is why I don't want to cruise. I love kids but I want to go somewhere where my Kids can't go so I don't feel bad about them not going.
Our 10th Anniversary we were supposed to go to Hawaii however my daughter is a gymnsast and I just couldn't justify the expensive so it came and went and we did nothing. So my husband is trying to give me a short weekend trip to help me feel better. We would be going the first week in Dec. I am glad some of you mentioned the hurricane because although I know it devasted a lot of islands in my ignorance I wasn't even thinking about this applying the resorts. I looked into Sandals Montego Bay because I do know people who have been there and enjoyed it. However they are drinkers. I will drink on occasion but would like to have some entertainment as wel. Dh and I are in our mid thirties and love Disney but I can't see doing it without my kids. I did it before kids but I think the guilt would kill me.
Thanks again for all your experience. ANy more suggestions?BTW 2500 is a round figure I could go higher just don't want to reach the 10000 mark. We are looking at doing a Wed - Sun.

We went to Sandals Inn , in Jamaica for our honeymoon in 95. We loved it and hope to go back one day. The food, accomadations, excursions, and everything else was perfect.

My cousin just returned on the 3rd from Jamaica. They went on their honeymoon and did all-inclusive at the Ritz. They said everything was first class and had a great time.
