All-Inclusive Disney Resorts

Just did a survey from Disney and it asked a lot about FP+ stuff, but also had a question that I thought a lot about. It dealt with the idea of All-Inclusive Disney Resorts. In essence, it would be an additional $40-$80 per night per person plus the room rate and it would include accommodations, theme park tickets, unlimited food and non-alcoholic beverages, transportation, and resort recreation. What does everyone think?

I think you can already set that up, if that is what you want.

More than I spend. I don't do dining plans and use an AP.

I think many people would do it, though...especially if they were told that part of it was free...or it was described as some kind of "package." those are the magic words!

Well, I think the idea is to entice guests to stay at a Disney Resort because doing the math, it'd (probably) be cheaper to stay onsite and get it all in one price rather than paying for it separately. It's sounds just like an MYW package with dining except it would be "unlimited" meals (don't know how that would work) and include resort recreation. It would encourage people to spend more time on property and, also, seems to provide a small discount on park tickets.

I'm not sure how I would feel about this. I guess it's great if you can afford it, but I know many people do not use the dining plan or stay off site to save money. I guess it would depend on what the total cost would be, but I could see this as a possibility for us. I'm sure there will always be things that are not included..like photo pass plus, etc where you would still spend a little more.

Good idea but not liking the $40-80 increase per night not in this economy!

It sounds like a great deal! For over $80/person/night, I added the DxDDP to my DVC room. I would gladly spend that amount to get unlimited food/drinks AND park tickets! But I'm sure it will never be offered to DVC members. :sad2:

Well, that is in leu of park tickets and dining. I just "ran" some numbers. The room at GF for July trip is costing $1,785 (insane but we're splurging) for 4 nights. Adding on theme park tickets brings the package to $2,526 (really insane!) That's what we're paying. Because it's the fourth, let's assume it is $80 for per person (all of us are "disney adults"), so that would cost $1,280. Add that to $1,785 and you get $3,065. Adding the dining plan would have costed $3,382, so you are saving plus getting "unlimited" food and resort recreation, which isn't included in either scenario. Perhaps, you'd also get FP+!

Look for the Premium and Platinum Package Plans. These already exist.

A lot would depend on the details. While $40-$80 per person per night sounds like a lot, when you start adding tickets and food (as described above), it's really not.

DDP by itself, in non-peak seasons costs ~$51 per adult per night. A 10 day base ticket is $318 per adult (so, ~$32 per day). This combined is already ~$82 per night and the DDP is quite limited as far as the credit structure is concerned. Certainly not proper for an "All-Inclusive" feel.

For a better comparison, you'd look at the platinum plan for inclusivity, which sits in the ~$200 per person per night range. And even this is a bit limited as you do not get unlimited food and drinks. I'm not sure about the shows and tours here either. I know they're included, but I don't know if there are allotments or what.

I don't see the $40-$80 price tag (even theoretical) as anywhere near feasible to craft a true all-inclusive type of plan when they already have something close to it that's over twice that price and is still more limited than a real all-inclusive type of deal.

Now, if this were a $40-$80 price tag on TOP of tickets, resort, AND at least DxDDP, it may be a bit more feasible. (Too rich for my blood, but feasible from a Disney perspective). Still don't think it would work due to the already existing premium and platinum plans being roughly more than that though.

Of course, survey questions are survey questions and are not necessarily portents of things to come :).

This sounds like the Food N Fun plan from the mid 90. Which btw, was awesome!

Sounds interesting!

Us folks from the UK are very used to the all inclusive concept of having all food drinks and accom included from going on our hols to the med resorts like Spain, Greece and the Spanish islands. A bit like Sandals, though ususally not as up market!!

I kinda think this exists already with the dining packages you can add to your booking. I like all inclusive but associate it more with the caribbean, if they bring it in as an extra great but if they replace options that already exist not so great, could end up with a very pricey holiday. Also as op said I'm a bit apprehensive about transport being included this doesn't boad well ????

If Disney decided to do this, what it would most likely mean is that they would jack up the price for accommodations to cover for the 'unlimited free food' and resort recreation. That price hike would go across the board, whether you would get the all-inclusive deal or not. Or would they even just let you get a room and no package anymore?

I suspect that if Disney did this lots of people would be attracted to it. There is something about knowing exactly what you are going to spend that appeals. Even if that something is more than you would usually spend. I doubt it would ever be something I would do though. I have run the numbers for "free dining" seven ways to sunday and can never even come close to getting it to come out to any kind of savings.

I wonder if the "all-inclusive" food would include snacks, then. From what I have read, a lot of the snacks included are things like candy and bottled water, things that could not possibly be included in an all-inclusive package because people would certainly just stock up on candy and treats as souvenirs or gifts for people at home. I would imagine it could only include unlimited actual meals but would still have limits on snacks.

I think it would depend on what all inclusive meant. Are they saying that all food and recreation are included in your resort only or a cross Disney property. We have done packages from quick service dining to platinum depending on our budget and I like having things prepaid even if it isnt the best deal so if I could pay a little more per night to have everything included as long as I have the flexibility of where I eat and do my recreation. If however I am stuck with eating and recreation at my resort I doubt I would do it unless I was on a short trip and staying at a monorail or Epcot deluxe.

from a DVC perspective - all I can think is what this fiasco will do to the cost of cash prices for food and the impact it have on the menus (which I'm certain won't be to expand them).

I really can't figure out what direction WDW Marketing is trying to go. They really can't ignore the MASS number of people that visit the parks. I can understand trying to get as many to stay onsite as possible and making as much money off that as possible, but I don't think its necessarily a smart move to "disenfranchise" the off site/local guests as much as it seems like they're looking to do.

I know that Universal's FOTL program and Meal Plan work very well, but you just can't compare the numbers of people. Of course their meal plan is available to everyone and it would be close to impossible for Disney to do that as a "public" option.
