All Ears Hears that as of January 5, 2004, the Wonders of Life Pavilion in Epcot will only open during peak crowd times. More details as we learn them

Another cutback in service?

Open Mission Space and close something else....

I have all the attractions there on my have not done it yet and want to do it on my Jan trip list

:(

Hey Jason,

I've heard the same thing from another source. Logistically, it makes sense. Body Wars hasn't been popular since Test Track opened, and neither Cranium Command nor the dated Making of Me is a crowd magnet.

Did I ever tell you my idea to revamp Wonders of Life? It'd be adapting a "Better Living Through Chemicals" theme. It would be sponsored by the pharmecutical industry. Viagra would take over the "Making of Me" show. Money could be made through product placement. I'm thinking a nice Chardonnay wine would pay big bucks to be in the film.

Ritalin would have the "Cranium Command" movie, and they'd make some changes. For one thing, the male lead would have to be replaced. Too excitable. Kevin Costner would take his spot. And not the "Bull Durham" Kevin Costner. Think "Waterworld." Much less exciting. And there'd be tranquilizers for Disney's Board of Directors, so they could approve the whole thing.

LOL! Everything in that pavillion is VERY outdated. Even if they would just spend money reshooting the movies with current clothing styles that would be a plus. Maybe they are going to revamp it for the better--I can be optimistic!

Yeah, this doesn't bother me so much. This pavilion is very dated, and though I usually go to it, I don't spend much time there. Also, if I don't get to ride Body Wars, it's not the end of the world. I generally go during off season and this pavilion is usually so empty that it is a little depressing. I can respect the idea that Disney MIGHT have that "if the attraction is not up to par with other attractions, its kinda embarrassing." Don't they usually start opening things seasonally for a little while before they refurbish them? Maybe this is a good sign.

Actually, I LOVE Cranium Command!!!

But your right, to keep that entire pavillion open all the time for that one outstanding attraction may sometimes not make sense.

However, I'm not sure what Disney is worried about on crowds.

The resorts were full and the parks had a good amount of people the entire week I was there (Dec 3-8)

However, we went to Universal/Islands of Adventure on Tuesday, the 10th and LITERALLY walked on to EVERYTHING.

We accomplished the following:

Shrek, Jimmy Neutron, Back to the Future, Men in Black, Jaws, Earthquake, Monster Make Up Show, Lucy Tribute (20 minutes in there), ET, Terminator (1 1/2 times, it broke the first time), then lunch at Hard Rock Cafe and some shopping, then over to IOA and did Cat in the Hat, Dueling Dragons (Fire and Ice), Jurassic Park River Adventure, Spider Man, and Hulk, we also joked around with the wishing fountain for a bit. This was all accomplished between 9 and 5:30. We would have also had time for Poseiden's Adventure, but the last show was at 5:00 pm.

I would love to have a video of Cranium Command for my intro psych courses. I know they would understand the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system better after experiencing this. I always try to visit--for sure I'll drop in on our Christmas trip.

Len, great idea but on the touring plans, once you went into that area you would have trouble moving to the next steps!

This makes me very sad for those of us with young children. They LOVE this pavillion. Does everything in Disney anymore have to be THRILLING? Can't it just be pleasantly entertaining and educational? I thought that was the whole idea of Epcot. First Food Rocks, and now this....

While it is dated, it is still enjoyable. To be honest this pavilion has been pretty empty the last couple times we visited, but that's true of a lot of things as we do our best to avoid crowds. Last week I took the boys over there about 9:20AM while we were waiting for a Test Track FP. We were the second group to enter the pavilion according to the CM at the entrance! We did Body Wars (nearly a private showing), Cranium Command, and then played for awhile in the interactive area. I just about had to pull them away to go back to Test Track.

The Cranium Command preshow had no video! The sound alone works, but it's much better with the video. Has anyone else noticed this?

Sters, I'm with you!
I love the nostalgia of Disney. Sure, the thrill rides are great! We loved Mission: Space, but we also enjoyed the hour or so we exploring Wonders of Life. And I'm glad I got to see Food Rocks one last time last week even though I'm still misty for Kitchen Kabaret!

Eisner is bringing that place down!
