All AP holders can get DDE now-not just FL residents

I am confused too! You said that the CM said you had to have your card with you to pick up the DDE card - that doesn't make sense since the card must be mailed to our homes and is not allowed to be picked up. Could there have been confusion and perhaps what was meant was that we have to have our AP with us to show if asked when we use our DDE card? I don't understand this information at all since I was under the impression that DDE cards can't be picked up, hence the ordering by phone, email/fax letter thing.

I guess more clarification is necessary since Disney seems to be all over the place with this - some CMs are saying it's not even necessary to show an AP (I agree with DMRick - this is a bit chaotic to say the least!), and now others are saying that you must have an AP to even get the card - it's one extreme to the other!

It was very clear to me that I will not need an AP to use this. They give you two cards, and if your spouse doens't have an Ap, obviously it's not needed to use the card. I also made it clear when my AP expires, which is long before the dde card, and they said that's fine, I only need my ID (license) to use it, just to prove it's my card.

I'm reading on some threads that you can use valet parking when coming in just for dinner using card, at no cost. How much do people usually tip valet?

My husband called today and signed us up. We have been AP holders for awhile now and will be back in WDW on the 22nd of this month. We are waiting on our email confirmation. Seems like a great deal.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone else has seen Allearsnet's page on the DDE?

The wording's a bit confusing, and it almost sounds like ANYONE can buy a DDE card, regardless of state residency or AP-holder status.

Does anyone know if the info on Deb's site is just worded unclearly, or is this truly another new development that non-AP-holders who aren't FL residents can also buy it for the regular-priced $75?

Interesting. This has been revised since I last looked at it a few days ago. It definitely sounds like it is open to everyone. Also, I see no mention of any special deal for Florida residents. Boy, is this gonna make them mad. :earboy2:

when i called DDE number, they said only the AP or FL resident could buy one and it is one card per memeber. MEmber must be present to use.

All I know is it has been a great value for my DD this week. I am an AP holder and her name is on the letter with mine that we were sent.

She has saved about $70 this week with discount on food for two. This was mostly counter service food at Pop, AK , and a couple table restaurants. For a family of 4 or 5, this would save some serious $$.

Maybe they will raise restuant prices this year, wouldn't be surprised.

herc.

We bought ours Thursday a week ago, the day before leaving. Called DDE, explained that we didnt have APs yet but would be purchasing on Fri ASAP. They sent us a letter via FAX explaining. Each time we would give to CM waitperson, they would get approval from manager, no problems.

It has saved us so far around $140 this week with a lunch still at Nine Dragons before heading home later today.

IMO, it has been worth having.

They asked me for a second name. My hubby's name is on the paper that came, and she told me we could both use the card.

My husband called yesterday and the CM just asked if we were FL residents or AP holders and if so what type. He told him and also said that we would be getting two cards so my husband also gave my name. We leave a week from today and have not gotten our email yet but hope to have it soon. The CM asked if we would be in WDW in the next four to six weeks and offered to send the email my husband did not even have to ask. Based on where we are scheduled to eat we will make up the $50 in our first few days and we have also have three more trips scheduled so this DDE is going to save us a lot of money. It almost seems to good to be true but I guess it is. As others have posted I would not be surprised if food prices start to go up.

I am going in Feb. with a large group. We are planning dinner on Friday night a WC at WL. There will be 18 of us. My question is...can I use the card for all of us? With me having 10 on one bill, and my DH having the rest on his? I was only thinking the 10, but my DH came up with this one. Anyone know?? I told him it doesn't hurt to ask those in the know. :flower1:

We will be getting two cards as well and both of our names were on the letter that they emailed to us that they sent before we left on our trip. I would recommend if you haven't received your email about 3 days before you are ready to leave, call back and explain that you are leaving town and I'm sure they'll accomodate you. They were very accomodating to us and we were leaving the next day.

wirki-I'm not sure if you'll be able to pull that one off or not. It might work and then again it might not. I think it will depend a lot on your waitperson and the rest. manager. It never hurts to ask though.

That is what my DH said :D

I have a question I hope someone can answer -- and I read all 12 pages so I don't think this has been asked yet.

We have APs, and will be at the World 4/30-5/5/7/05, 11/26-12/2/05, and probably the first week of May '06. I want to buy the DDE so that it'll be valid from 5/1/05-5/31/06 so we get all 3 trips out of it. Any idea on how to do that? Can you specify what beginning/expiration date you get? I notice some of you ordered approximately 1/10/05 and yours expired 2/28/06 -- so if I called in early April, could I ask for a 5/31/06 expiration? And if I cut it close, still get and use the confirmation e-mail for the first of the three trips, which I think most of you said came within a few days?

Thanks to anyone who can help with this.

Wirki-I called on this one and they said you ask for two checks, use one card for 10 people and the other for the remaining 8 in your party-no problems. We are going in April with 16 people!!

Just thought I'd mention that it seems likely that the DDE is available to anyone.

You don't have to be an AP holder, and you don't have to be a FL resident to buy it for the regular price of $75.

Please note that only one person has confirmed this with DDE, and of course, we can't know for sure if this is 100% accurate until more people try to buy it.
