All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY/TOWER/VHD/FWC Charts)

There's a VGF Deluxe Studio Fixed Week #1 on the resale market now. It has a Feb UY so not sure why the original owner choose that UY.
Our first contract was resale with a Dec UY. We thought about adding a RIV fixed week in Nov (week 46) for our daughter's birthday (but decided against it after the new fixed pt charts came out). Maybe something similar?

Yeah, that might explain it also.

Was week 49 ever sold at VGF for standard view resort studios?

I inquired with my guide and he informed me that it wasn't currently available, but lake view is. I assumed it had sold out, but looking at DVC News I see only 11 standard view resort studio favorite weeks have been recorded in total as of 6/15.

35% of 84 standard view resort studios would be 29 favorite weeks. Even if all 11 standard view favorite weeks recorded happened to fall in week 49 I can't imagine 18 more favorite weeks of that category and date sold in 2 weeks.

Digging deeper, I see the points value was completely blank on the original February 2022 VGF favorite week chart:

But updated to reflect the number of points as of March 2023:

I know the dates originally omitted fell below the 150 minimum, but I didn't know if DVC just didn't sell them? My guide mentioned "topping off" a favorite week below 150 to take full advantage of all the current promotions so that didn't seem likely to me. Or did DVC just choose not sell up to 35% of a category for a specific date? I will be following up with my guide after the holiday and just wanted to make sure I was fully informed.

Let us know! I do believe week 49 was originally available for both lake view and standard at VGF. That is a very popular week.

When DVC was rigidly enforcing a 150 point minimum, they would not sell a favorite week where the total came in under 150.

More recently, they have been allowing minimum purchases starting at 100, which has apparently opened up more options. Buyers still need to have a total of 150 direct points in order to qualify for perks and to receive certain incentives at the time of purchase.

(*Bear in mind DVC has a history of changing these "rules" on the fly and granting supervisor approval for certain exceptions if a salesperson is persistent enough. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if someone came forward to claim they were permitted to buy a 140 point guaranteed week 5 years ago. But it wasn't standard practice.)

The rules allow for up to 35% in favorite weeks per room category. They don't have to go that high. It is possible that they don't want to sell that week...or have sold the number of favorite weeks they wish to sell.

I believe that the 150 came in to play as a minimum in 2021...prior to that, it was 125 for quite a few years?

For perks, yes. But DVC was *mostly* enforcing a 150 point minimum purchase for first-time buyers longer than that.

Nevertheless, the charts @PolyRob was comparing are from 2022 and 2023. In 2022, they (supposedly) weren't selling weeks that were under 150 points. Now they are.

Summer of 2021, I joined DVC by buying 2 fixed week contracts at Riv for 130 and 122 points. I think that they were OK with that because combined they were over the minimum of 150 points.

I read this entire thread yesterday and it seemed like when VGF 2 sales opened there was a strict "no favorite week under 150" rule which is why I was curious. I am going to specifically ask about week 50 since it's the same 145 points for standard view. I know week 48 is available since I inquired about that, but it's 167 points for standard view. I only want week 49, but I just need to know if week 50 (also 145 points) is a possibility.

This seems to be what I was reading. I was already a qualified 'blue card' VGF member when VGF 2.0 went on sale so I would have thought 145 shouldn't have been a problem, but I recall seeing that blank chart for weeks under 150 and just adding points on at the time.

This is what I am thinking happened. My guide actually mentioned someone else had inquired about standard view week 49 that same day and he knew it wasn't an option from his previous sale (that member went with week 48). I originally confirmed all the incentives were good through 9/11 and my guide said points wouldn't be a problem, but the lake view 49 may not be there so it's probably very limited and not up to 35% (31 of 90 lake view rooms).

Had week 49 in a standard view been available to me March 2022 I would have purchased it then. I will probably end up just adding two, 75 point contracts and retaining the flexibility to downsize in smaller increments if need be.

I always have a trip planned week 49 (sometimes Fri to Fri, sometimes Sat to Sat, sometimes Sun to Sun) so it seemed like a good idea to just have a safety net with the favorite week if I wasn't able to book something that year or if the points chart was reallocated even more down the line, but it may not be an option for me. Week 48 is too close to Thanksgiving for my travel preferences and last year week 50 had weekend blockouts on the Sorcerer Pass. I could go ahead with the lake view, but it's more points than I want (anything over 150 just increases the price per point outside the promotion). I also personally prefer having the standard view in Big Pine Key because I know I can get fireworks views and specialty turret rooms vs the water.

I own week 49 at Copper Creek. Best DVC purchase I’ve made. That week is always in demand. People even walk it depending on the resort. I say keep going up the chain. Sales are down, and I’m sure there will be someone who will approve that purchase.

Week 49 is awesome. I own week 49 at Riv (std. view studio), and likewise, I'm very happy with that purchase, especially so after they adjusted the points charts. For those of us who aren't working around school schedules, week 49 nicely threads the needle between Thanksgiving and Christmas blockout dates, giving us a special bit of Christmas Disney magic before we visit family.

PolyRob, good luck getting 49 at VGF2. Overall direct sales are down, but I've heard that with recent incentives that they've been selling a lot of VGF. I don't know how motivated they'll be to work with you on that.

And on a tangent, I remember this odd detail with talking to my guide a couple of years ago. I could have bought a FW contract for more points than the going rate for that fixed week. For example, if the fixed week was 130 points, I could have bought a 150 points contract for it. However, any year where I used the FW reservation, it would use all 150 points of the contract, and you wouldn't get the 20 points difference between 150 & 130. Only if you cancel the reservation and book on your own would you get all 150 points.

I don't know if they'll let you do that to buy VGF2 SV week 49, but that'll be less than the 173 points for Lake View. Or maybe you can buy a 2nd contract for 25 pts, but there are additional closing costs with that.

Thank you! I have to consider how hard I want to work for it. I know there are a lot more studios than VGF1, but I still think it will be difficult to secure this timeframe once VGF2 is sold out. Look at Poly this week which is almost all studios.

I may honestly just say I am not interested in anything besides standard view week 49 right now. See where it goes from there. I know I have until 9/11 and I will take my subsidized dues 2 months cheaper :rotfl:

I agree 49 is the perfect timing between both holidays!

Thank you, VGF really does seem to be selling well now. I have to admit I have seen the $161 figure thrown around in various places and I would feel like a complete fool for not getting more at my favorite WDW resort for that price.

I could inquire about 25 points, but week 49 standard view is 145 points right now (up from 138 for VGF 1 standard view). It seems like I would only need to add 5 into it for the best incentives so I would just let them go in the event I want to use the favorite week. I would even try to book the same accommodation with my other VGF points and release my 10% + 5 points unless the chart is reallocated to the point where I am losing points by cancelling.

I know favorite weeks use current UY points and if you touch even 1 of the points the week cannot be booked by MS.

What if I bank points on that contract and book with ONLY the banked points in the same UY? Would that cause any issues with MS banking the favorite week?

Additionally, what if I book something with the current UY points and cancel it before MS plans on booking the favorite week? Is the favorite week no longer eligible to be booked if all the current UY points are available because I touched them previously?

As long the the current UY points are there when they go to book it..I believe they do it about 12 months ahead Id time..you should be fine.

Thank you! Just wanted to make sure I would be ok before asking my guide about week 49 again. I appreciate it!

I doubt anyone has this information, but out of curiosity, I wonder what percentage of FW's have been bought for weeks 48-50 compared to the entire rest of the year. Or even just week 49?

I seem to remember someone saying that RunDisney weeks are in some demand, but otherwise almost everyone I have spoken to has an early December week.

Early December was the most likely to. Increase in value as they rebalanced point charts. Even fall got a good deal I think now.

People have actually come out a good amount ahead already with the point shifts.

My guide mentioned the first 2 weeks of December and the week of Christmas were the most popular favorite weeks he's sold.
