All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY/TOWER/VHD/FWC Charts)

Update - I was able to opt out of the FW and book the same week, but I used the 10% premium points (and some others) to upgrade the room type... huge win all the way around! Member services also said that booking the same week without the FW was easy because there was excess inventory, but they said that is not always the case and if inventory was slim then the risk of the waitlist snatching any part of the week I want could be high. That goes to the points you made above - only one way to be guaranteed the week!
Best to early-request floors above 3 as early as possible. I would read some of the discontented accounts of a low-floor TPV (if you haven’t already). Not pretty.

My FW 49 @ CC was booked very late. Never received the “ Welcome Home” email either.

In the process of purchasing week 36 at PIT. Can anyone speak to how busy it is over Labor Day weekend into that week? TIA!

I asked MS when FW52 would be booked and she said not for a few more weeks - I guess they are behind 🤷‍♀️

I can’t speak to the week after Labor Day but we are usually there the last two weeks of August into Labor Day weekend. Sat/Sun are more crowded than the preceding weeks but not bad at all IMO. I also am comparing it to Christmas, Spring Break, etc. so it’s actually quite lovely.

How do you find fixed week contracts on resale?
The broker will have it in their description. Usually sell at a premium. They tend to have an odd number of points that stand out (108, 168, 234, etc.), most regular contracts are a nice number (25, 50, 150, 200, etc.) not always true but one way to spot them in a crowd. The board sponsor has it as a searchable field (nothin there currently).

Heads up for anyone with a runDisney Food & Wine Guaranteed Week that the 2025 dates are Oct 23-26, but the week (or at least my week) was booked for Nov 2-9.

Now we weren’t planning on doing runDisney this year, but it’s a little alarming that the run was moved to week 42 and that DVC didn’t then book the right week for my runDisney Guaranteed Week!

Yes it is alarming! Will you ask them to move it or keep week 42?

I wonder how many people got RunDisney weeks before they discontinued selling them 🤔

I wrote this in another thread, but:

I suspect this could be a consequence of the late announcement of the event dates, combined with the specific wording of the sales contract for an Event Week.

If I remember correctly, the dates for the Wine & Dine race were not announced until January of this year. That's well inside the Home Resort booking window for the week. I will bet money that the Event Week contract (a) is technically tied to a specific Guaranteed Week and (b) has language that specifies what happens if the event date is not known before the Home Resort booking window opens for the relevant week number.

Take a careful look at your sales contract to see what it says. In particular: there is probably a document in your sales package that is titled something like "Event Week Product Understanding Checklist." That should have the details.

Yes, that’s why I said technically my week is Week 44, as they had to assign it a week when I purchased it.

The contract says that my week will be booked for “the week during which the event occurs”, but there’s no specific language for what happens when rhat is not the week 44 or the event date is announced after 11 months. I suspect I may be SOL but am waiting for them to reply back.

In this case, the week the run moved to is the week I plan to go to Disneyland with my BFF and her kids, so I won’t be using my runDisney benefits this year. I just want to know what happens in this situation.

(And I suspect this is one reason they are no longer sold. It's a recipe for very unhappy owners.)
I think the other reason is they didn’t have a good process around preregistration, either. I’ve had years where I had to chase down DVC for my preregistration benefits.

In our case I knew we wouldn’t be doing it every year, but we got it for those years my DH did want to run at the event.

Do you have a copy of your Event Week Product Understanding checklist? Would you be willing to share it? I have never seen one.

How many FW are sold per room type and week? I am curious because, including myself, I know that a total of three FW 36 have sold. Wondering how many may be left? I know there were no week 39 to purchase as of this week.

DVD can sell up to 35% of any given use day to a FW. They don’t have to sell that much but can’t sell more.

As rooms are declared, that can open up more weeks to be sold.

For example, if they declare 20 RV studios, then the most they can sell for any one week would be 6.

So the allocation of FW is not necessarily evenly divided? If demand is there, could one week be oversold where it could leave no availability for another? What would prevent the majority of FW being sold in the more popular weeks? Why would my week 36 be available but not week 39? Same points, same season.

No, they can’t sell more than 35% if rooms in that category for any given use day.

So, right now, if week 36 is available but not week 39, it means they already sold the max for 39.

Basically, no week will ever have more than 35% of its rooms sold to FW…however, popular weeks might reach that number and others never do.

There will also be at least 65% of a room type and view for points based booking every single day of the year.

If you have a fixed week, does it reserve those days regardless of what you do? For instance, if I had a week Sun-Sat, could I change some of it (like if I wanted to do a split stay for 3 of the 7 days), or does changing any of it cancel the fixed week, & I have to go back into only if available?
