All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY/TOWER/VHD/FWC Charts)

Likely because DVC is only selling VGF2.0 points so they can't give you a fixed week on VGF1.0

I suspect once VGF2.0 sells out they would reopen access to VGF1.0 FW since it seems sold out resorts do allow you to purchase FW.

Obviously DVD can do what they want to do -- it is what it is. It's not a democracy. :rotfl2:
Our family is still going to buy points - so it's all well and good.

What I find strange with this policy is this ...

My understanding is that the allotment of a FW is based on a percentage of deeds (example 20%) for a given class of accommodation (Deluxe Studio Standard View) for a given week (example week 50).

DVD has decided that VGF1 and VGF2 are in fact ONE real-estate holding. There are no special rules associated with one or the other --- it's all one great big huge pool of members, points and accommodations. Members all share a collective policy.

So why am I not allowed to purchase a FW Deluxe Studio Standard View for a given week?

If the answer was -- "we reached the limit (i.e. 20% of deeds) for the week you want Mr. Customer" ... then I'd say ... "ok, that sucks for me ... I don't like it, but that makes sense." But that's not the answer.

To me, this is weird .... either you have the a FW option for the entire property or you don't.

In other words, either I have access to the same policies as other members do, or I don't.

Had I bought direct 6 months ago, and the FW % deed limit wasn't reached, they would have gladly sold me a FW provided they had points to sell. So --- what's changed now?? I don't see it.

Anyway -- it's all good -- I just don't see the logic, especially since I can buy a FW at Big Pine Key / VGF 2. And I strongly suspect that -- not all of the fixed week deeds have been taken in the original VGF1.

Anyhoo -- I'll be ok :drinking1(I'm sure there's a small violin playing for me somewhere out there) :hyper:

Cheers

I didn't know they could change the FW charts. I thought they had to be based on the first year pt chart

I bought a FW at RIV with a new membership that was only 130 points (standard view Studio). All I had to do was to add on an additional contract to make the minimum, taking into account the minimum points per contract. Would they not let you do that at VGF2?
No.

I believe the change was removing the option to buy weeks that were less than 150…not that the weeks themselves changed.

it does seems as though the new RIV FW chart has aligned with newer charts so for example W48 Pref Studio used to be 147 pts, now 189!

Im glad I got mine with the old charts!

Agreed. Bit out of left field! I wasn't sure they could either but then we once thought they couldn't sell FW at sold out resorts until they did.

The weeks have changed. I have a FW that cost me 130 points inc 10% premium. That FW week now costs 153. I feel like the FW was a pretty good deal as already the week costs more points than we bought.

Oh, thanks for correct me. I just thought the weeks were removed.

I also noticed that they changed the term from "Guaranteed Week" to "Favorite Week". Maybe that was enough of a change (i.e. excuse) to change the points charts?

Wow, I'm really glad we got week 48 standard studio for 120 pts as part of our purchase 2 years ago! Though since we've fallen in love with the 1BRs, I wish we had done one of those also back then

So let me get this straight. You cannot buy a FW under 150 points even as an existing member? Even at Riviera which were offering it until Feb 7.

I guess it makes sense... In the past, FW did not qualify for the incentives, which gave DVD the advantage. Now that it qualifies for the incentives and the advantage was towards the Members, they had to do something to take the advantage back. However, it is weird that existing members cannot buy FW under 150.

As an exit strategy, I bought week #43 at RIV for 130 points (with 2 smaller contracts), and it is now 153 points. Definitely a good buy. I wonder if they'll make the mistake and return 153 points to me if I cancel the week... Fat chance, I know! :rotfl2:

These legacy fixed week contracts could become like the subsidized dues contracts of aulani on the resale market. The amount of dues saved on the weeks that have gone up substantially like mine where it’s 34 points higher is huge over the next 48 years if you always use your fixed week.

Wow never even thought about the dues!
