Likely because DVC is only selling VGF2.0 points so they can't give you a fixed week on VGF1.0
I suspect once VGF2.0 sells out they would reopen access to VGF1.0 FW since it seems sold out resorts do allow you to purchase FW.
Obviously DVD can do what they want to do -- it is what it is. It's not a democracy.

Our family is still going to buy points - so it's all well and good.
What I find strange with this policy is this ...
My understanding is that the allotment of a FW is based on a percentage of deeds (example 20%) for a given class of accommodation (Deluxe Studio Standard View) for a given week (example week 50).
DVD has decided that VGF1 and VGF2 are in fact ONE real-estate holding. There are no special rules associated with one or the other --- it's all one great big huge pool of members, points and accommodations. Members all share a collective policy.
So why am I not allowed to purchase a FW Deluxe Studio Standard View for a given week?
If the answer was -- "we reached the limit (i.e. 20% of deeds) for the week you want Mr. Customer" ... then I'd say ... "ok, that sucks for me ... I don't like it, but that makes sense." But that's not the answer.
To me, this is weird .... either you have the a FW option for the entire property or you don't.
In other words, either I have access to the same policies as other members do, or I don't.
Had I bought direct 6 months ago, and the FW % deed limit wasn't reached, they would have gladly sold me a FW provided they had points to sell. So --- what's changed now?? I don't see it.
Anyway -- it's all good -- I just don't see the logic, especially since I can buy a FW at Big Pine Key / VGF 2. And I strongly suspect that -- not all of the fixed week deeds have been taken in the original VGF1.
Anyhoo -- I'll be ok

Cheers
