All Aboard! The Happiest TR That Ever Sailed ~May 1-9~ Ice cream for dinner! 6/20

Just getting caught up... loving it and can't wait for more!

Such a good TR. We're going back in about a month, so your TR gets me more excited (as if I can get "more" excited than I already am at the mention of WDW).

Hi, Ohana!! :welcome:

I love your username... the whole 'Ohana scene in Lilo and Stitch makes me tear up every time and I LOVE the restaurant 'Ohana too. I start going crazy at a month... but the last month always FLIES by!:goodvibes

Your food looked soo yummy from Teppan.. I never thought of going there.. but I just might have to now! Just add another to the million of others I need to try! hehe

I have never been to boardwalk but looking at your pictures, it does look a lot like beach club.. but I think its a little more fancy and has more detailed touches!

and to answer your question- I plan to start my TR tomorrow. I've been trying to edit and fix all my pictures before I started it but I'm only like like 150, and I took like 900+ pictures.. not that I would post them all. but its not working, its taking me to long to edit them all.. so I decided to at least get started..

How do you start a new TR posting, and mark your PTR at closed/completed?

I just started a new thread on the TR board and stopped posting on my PTR. I don't even know if that's the "right" way to do it...:rotfl: although I just realized you probably already have your TR started! I'm going to take a look for it right now!

Great idea! I think we should suggest this Broadway themed resort to the folks at Disney.... :thumbsup2

I think with all the DIS's different resort ideas, we could put Disney out of business building resort after resort. I swear their Imagineers should read the DIS... it's like having free employees!

great trip report very positive upbeat and nice picutures

Hi, Joespest6! :welcome:

Thanks so much for reading along!

Just getting caught up... loving it and can't wait for more!

Sorry, I realized today I've been totally slacking and haven't updated in a week.:headache: Got the next one coming right up though!:yay:

Day Three, Part 1. My first Rope Drop!

Woo hoo!! We've finally arrived at the morning of Day 3. My mom woke up first at the wake up call and hopped in the shower immediately. I had showered the night before so I got to sleep in for an extra twenty minutes, woo hoo! I didn't bother with any makeup or anything today since we were going to AK and it would probably melt right off anyways... so I was ready in record time!

We were out to the bus stop by about 8:20 and I was slightly discouraged because I didn't think we were going to make rope drop, which I had planned on.

My mom and I sat and ate our Mickey muffins we had picked up the night before at the Boardwalk Bakery. Now, when I had chosen mine, I thought I was buying a chocolate chip muffin. Of course, after one bite I realized that it was a blueberry muffin. I am so not a blueberry muffin fan but this one was SO. GOOD. It tasted almost like it was made with cornmeal or something? Anyway, it was delicious.

The AK bus came up right as we were finishing. One little touch I liked was that the YC had a CM standing at the bus stop, calling out each bus. There's only one bus stop for every park at the YC so I thought it was a nice touch. We boarded the bus and were on our way to Animal Kingdom!

ry%3D480

I really like the balloons on the buses for the Celebrate theme. I don't know if I've said this before, but I think they're so cute.

We arrived at the gates to AK and the first thing we noticed was... the HEAT. Holy cow it was hot the entire week and I think AK really is the hottest park. It was a scorcher!

ry%3D480

We got in the gates really quickly, there was no line for bag checks or anything. I was super surprised when we got to Discovery Island and...

ry%3D480

We had made it for rope drop!! We were so far back that we couldn't really see/hear anything but I was still thrilled. It was my first rope drop EVER. Exciting, huh? I have to say though, I was not a fan of being pushed and shoved like crazy. People were quite intense about shoving their way to the front as best they could. I just let them pass, trying not to let it bother me. I figured I had an entire week left at Disney, I could afford to let them take a few steps in front of me.

Eventually the rope actually dropped and the crowd surged forward. Some people were really running, but we just kind of wandered toward Africa for the Safari.

ry%3D480

On the way to Kilimanjaro Safaris, we noticed Lilo and Stitch. I'd never met them before and there was literally nobody in line since everybody was racing for Africa. We decided to stop and say hello and Stitch was so much fun! He was pawing at my bag and I asked him if he wanted any hand sanitizer since that was basically the only thing inside LOL. He stood there and held out his paws and nodded like "Yes, please!". He was trying to steal my sunglasses... just a lot of fun.

ry%3D480

You can sort of see my lovely knee braces in the top picture. They bothered me so much. The velcro and wires were digging into my skin and giving me a really bad rash on the backs of my knees and they were making my legs so darn hot! I had to keep them on all day though because I hadn't worn them in Epcot the day before... but boy, they were a pain!

After saying our goodbyes to Lilo and Stitch we continued on our way to KS. There was a band playing some live music on the way there. I love all the live musicians they have in AK, they add so much to the atmosphere!

ry%3D480

Eventually we made it to the entrance to KS. The wait time said 15 minutes but we really just walked on. The line was a little slow toward the front because of all the strollers but then later down the line the CMs divided the stroller families from non stroller families and we were on in a snap.

ry%3D480

This is kind of embarrassing, but I never realized Simba meant lion before!! Maybe this was MY Boardwalk/Broadway moment? LOL Am I the only one who didn't know that?

ry%3D480

This was the first time we had actually seen the standby lineup because we usually use FastPass. I was very impressed with the theming... one of the best queues at Disney IMO. You miss out on a lot in the FP lineup.

ry%3D480

Now. I know everyone includes their Safari pictures in their TR. And I know they can kind of get monotonous to go through. Everyone's seen what a giraffe and a lion look like, right? So I debated not posting these but I can't help it. I just can't leave something out that I took pictures of LOL. So feel free to scroll through if you want. To be honest, my pictures aren't that great but... they're mine, so they're getting posted!!

I don't remember what these little guys were called...

ry%3D480

I really like the safari better in the morning. I definitely think the animals are more active and we saw tons! We've gone in the afternoon in the past and been kind of disappointed, so we'll be morning safari-ers from now on. It's nice relax and sit back on this attraction, it's so nice and long. Our driver was really fun but I don't remember his name. I did like that he didn't focus to much on the "storyline" though and talked more about the animals. You can only appreciate the Little Red poaching story so many times! He was a wild driver though, when he accelerated at the end to catch the poachers I nearly flew out of the vehicle! LOL

We kind of planned this awkwardly because we went over the Dinoland USA after KS to get FPs for Dinosaur. Lotsa walking... oh well! We got to take in all the gorgeous AK scenery.

ry%3D480

There was literally nobody at the Dinosaur FP machines. When I walked up I thought they weren't even turned on! Our return time was only about 45 minutes away. Woo hoo!

ry%3D480

And with some extra time to kill, we made a beeline right for Primeval Whirl! Lame, I know, but it's one of my favourite rides at WDW!!

ry%3D480

I'm sorry for the delay in updates, you guys. I'm going to try and get another one posted by tomorrow and be caught up on all your wonderful TRs and PTRs but the end of the weekend/Monday. I haven't been around the DIS much as life has been pretty hectic and I feel all out of sync! Thanks for being patient with me!

Great update! I love the safari in the morning too. Although we went on it at 2ish this time and we saw tons of animals even in the heat.

I can't believe you will be back there next week! LUCKY!!!:cool1:

Thanks for the update, I was beginning to think you had forgotten about us!!:rotfl:

... I took the opportunity to tell her, every time we went to a new resort "Mum, this is the Yacht Club resort. It is themed to resemble a yacht club." "This is the Polynesian resort. The theme mimics the atmosphere of a Polynesian island." "Just to let you know, the Port Orleans resorts are indeed based on New Orleans architecture and traditions". Too funny.

Oh, you rotten kids can't resist poking fun at your mothers!!

And on her birthday, too!! ;)

Kathy

I didn't know "simba" meant lion either!!! :confused3

Also, I really, really want a Mickey blueberry muffin now! Yum!! That looks delicious!! :yay:

Out of all the times I have been to WDW and out of all the TR's I have read this is the first time I have seen a Mickey shaped Muffin, I want one!

I loved the balloons on the buses/monorails too. Very bright and cheerful.

I'd never seen a mickey shaped muffin before either. I guess they must only be available at the Yacht club.

Grrrr!!! how do you look so good without make-up? I've developed rosacea so I just look like I have a sunburn without any make-up and I can't wait to see what a giant frizz ball I'm gonna have on the top of my head when that humidity hits my curly hair. Yikes:scared1: Will I even have one decent picture:sad2:

You look beautiful without makeup! I am not a big makeup wearer so I can't imagine wearing it in Disney at all. :rotfl:

I loved the balloons on the buses and monorails, it made everything seem so cheerful!

How neat that there is a CM calling out the buses at Yacht Club, does that mean no one lines up?

I didn't realize the muffins are Mickey Shaped! I want one for breakfast right now!

I hate how fast pass lines make you miss so much of the stand-by line! :headache:

You look gorgeous even without make up on! I'm jealous!

I have less than 2 weeks to go! :yay:

Oooohhh, I've never seen the queue line for Kilimanjaro Safari! I had no idea what was there. I had used the FP line always. A wait for 15 minutes is awesome!!! Wow!

Forget about the DIS?!? No way!;) I have my next update ready to post tomorrow once I have the pictures uploaded. I swear, getting the photos online is the most difficult part!

Mmm, that looks good!

I think you found a great spot for Illuminations... peaceful and uncrowded! :thumbsup2

Kathy

Oh, you rotten kids can't resist poking fun at your mothers!!

And on her birthday, too!! ;)

Kathy

Don't worry, she can't resist poking fun at me either!! LOL And later in the week we found an even better spot... but definitely more crowded! There's something to be said for getting out of the chaos for a little bit.

I didn't know "simba" meant lion either!!! :confused3

Also, I really, really want a Mickey blueberry muffin now! Yum!! That looks delicious!! :yay:

If I like them, they must be extra delicious for people who like blueberry muffins haha. And glad to know I'm not the only one who's about 15 years late on the Simba thing LOL.

Ah, to be young... to roll out of the shower with no makeup on and still look gorgeous!! :cloud9:

Sorry about your knees... hope they didn't cause you much trouble!

Wow! I just noticed your ticker!! Only one more week!! :woohoo: :yay: :dogdance:

Kathy

I know, I can barely believe it! This month has just flown by. And I found the most wonderful shoes for my knees later in the trip so luckily they didn't bother me the whole time!

Out of all the times I have been to WDW and out of all the TR's I have read this is the first time I have seen a Mickey shaped Muffin, I want one!

I know, I had never seen them before either! We need to update the DIS Food Porn Police!:rotfl2:

I loved the balloons on the buses/monorails too. Very bright and cheerful.

I'd never seen a mickey shaped muffin before either. I guess they must only be available at the Yacht club.

I've never seen them anywhere else, now that I think of it. Maybe they're a Boardwalk Bakery exclusive? I wish the balloons could stay forever!

I think it's the "Disney Glow" LOL. There's something about being in Disney World that turns even the hottest, sweatiest, most exhausted tourist into a princess.

You look beautiful without makeup! I am not a big makeup wearer so I can't imagine wearing it in Disney at all. :rotfl:

I didn't realize the muffins are Mickey Shaped! I want one for breakfast right now!

Nope! Well, at least not from what we saw. Everyone was sitting on benches just kind of hanging out. It was very relaxing!

I would LOVE a blueberry mickey muffin for breakfast tomorrow. Unfortunately it'll be the old standby... Captain Crunch and toast with PB. How exciting! LOL

I hate how fast pass lines make you miss so much of the stand-by line! :headache:

I have less than 2 weeks to go! :yay:

I am soooo excited for you!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Oooohhh, I've never seen the queue line for Kilimanjaro Safari! I had no idea what was there. I had used the FP line always. A wait for 15 minutes is awesome!!! Wow!

Neither did I before this trip... and believe it or not, later in the day we saw the wait at 10 minutes!! It was crazy. Usually the lines for KS are brutal!

Great update! We did KS first thing in the morning back in January and it was wonderful. All of the animals were out and about. I can't wait to see the Mickey balloons on the buses and the monorails. I guess they put those up sometime after I left in January. They are so cute!

Great update!! :thumbsup2 That muffin looked very yummy....much better than the dry cereal I'm eating right now! Haha--I didn't know that Simba meant lion until I read it in your TR! :rotfl: So, no...you're not the only one. I'm sure it was just miserably hot for you since you're not used to the hotter weather... Sorry!! Florida is actually somewhat of a break for me! I'm sorry your knees hurt you too. Have you seen The Curious Case of Benjamin Button? When the girl hurt her leg, I thought of you. I'm anxious to hear about the rest of your day at AK!! :goodvibes

I'm all caught up again. I was doing good at keeping up but I decided I needed to write a trip report about our son's surprise trip to WDW and I fell behind.

I sure wish I could roll out of bed and look as cute as you in the morning. I put on makeup and fix my hair and still look rough!

The balloons are a really nice addition... I think they should add little details like them for every theme from now on. It was really nice to get to AK early enough to do the safari first thing. Usually we are sleepy heads, even at Disney!:headache:

Yes, I have seen Benjamin Button! I really liked it.:goodvibes And I loved that they included some ballet, that made it even better. I'm glad so many people didn't get the Simba/Lion connection, I thought I was the only one! And the May heat was probably only a warm up for the heat we're gonna face next week! We were at WDW last July though, so if I can handle that I can handle anything. I'll just escape back up here to the cool weather and breathe a sigh of relief once I'm home.

There are so many different things to keep up with on the DIS, I totally understand! I'll come find your TR, what's one more to subscribe to? It's summer after all, when else will I have time to devote hours a day to TR reading?:rotfl:

Our Photopass CD came today! I have already copied everyones pictures and burned them to the CD's! I'll be mailing them tomorrow!!:)
