All Aboard! The Happiest TR That Ever Sailed ~May 1-9~ Ice cream for dinner! 6/20

Day Three, Part 2.

I told you guys I hadn't forgotten about you! I've got another update all ready. :goodvibes

The line for Primeval Whirl really wasn't too bad. I didn't ride it in December because the line was around 60 minutes and the FastPass machines weren't on. I like Primeval Whirl but it's just too short to wait in line for over an hour. So when we saw 15 minutes posted, I was pretty happy. We were on in about 10 minutes, woohoo!

I took this picture as a bit of a joke... my parents work together (my mom is an author and her and my dad run a publishing company and my dad technically works for my mom) so I was teasing my mom that this was her relationship with my father when they work together.:rotfl: I think she found it funnier than he did when I explained the photo to him after arriving home.

ry%3D480

As we were waiting, my mom became obsessed with taking a picture of an empty ride vehicle for the TR. Of course, people were so fast getting in them that we have about 10 pictures of random Primeval Whirl passengers but she was finally successful! So here you go, guys. Compliments of Mama Autumnpalm.

ry%3D480

Since there was only two of us, we got paired up with another mother and daughter. As we waited to be transported back in time, the mother was telling us about how she bought heeled sandals for her daughter because she was a little short... and she had just reached the height limit! The little girl was so cute, she was SO excited to ride.

Ready for departure!

ry%3D480

PW was a fun ride, as always, and I had a huge smile on my face once we were off. I really do love that coaster, it is so much fun.

We went to ride Dinosaur next with our FPs and figured we would get a drink or something near the entrance while we waited for our time to come up. However, once we got there we saw that the standby line was only 5 minutes! I didn't want to waste the FPs so we walked right on in the standby line. It was awesome. This is another pre-ride video I don't mind because it stars Dr. Claire Huxtable!:lovestruc I love the Cosby Show.

Believe it or not, this was my mom's first time riding Dinosaur! I have no idea how... I could've sworn that she had ridden it before but she insisted it was the first time. I have to say, this attraction terrifies me (but in a good way). I get so into it and nearly have a heart attack every time! They did a great job with this ride. Here is our picture:

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

The crowds were so low our Time Rover wasn't even full!

On our way out of the attraction I was accosted by a real life Dino skeleton!

ry%3D480

Don't worry, we made it out safely.;)

I checked the Times Guide next to see if there was anything going on soon and we saw that Finding Nemo: The Musical was on in 20 minutes! Neither of us had done this yet. We tried to get in during our December trip but the line ups were CRAZY and we were turned away every time. This time we made it in! It was kind of strange, though. A CM randomly came up to a party 2 families ahead of us and said he was cutting the line off there. The family in front of us got REALLY upset and one of their children started crying and they told him it was their last day, was there any way they could be squeezed in? We hung out behind them for a few minutes, wondering if we could get in too. He left to go "talk to his manager" and came back after a few seconds saying that because they wanted to see the show so badly, he would let in not only that family but everyone behind them! That included us and... oh, about 200 other families? Strange sense of humor aside, we were soon in the theater!

ry%3D480

Another live band! I am a huge fan of steel drums so I was kind of groovin' to the music while we filed into the line.

ry%3D480

The musical was awesome. I absolutely loved it! I've heard mixed reviews, some people saying it was too long, not very interesting, etc. but both my mom and I thought it was amazing. It will be a must see for us from now on! The cast is so talented and the music is nice and catchy so I really enjoyed all the songs even though it was the first time I was hearing them. We were super impressed! Here are a few photos from the show (don't worry, no flash was used!)

I'm so glad we took the time to see it. I highly recommend the show!

Once it was over, we were both starving for lunch! Even though my mom loves Flame Tree BBQ, I was dying to try Pizzafari so we decided to save FTBQ for our 2nd AK day. Off to Pizzafari it was! My breadsticks awaited me.:goodvibes

:lmao: My mom was the same way about taking pictures to contribute to the trip report.

What was up with that CM at Finding Nemo, strange sense of humour...

I haven't ridden Primeval Whirl is YEARS. I want to do it again sometime soon.

Good pictures from Finding Nemo! The CM must have been having an off day, that is just weird. :confused3

There are so many different things to keep up with on the DIS, I totally understand! I'll come find your TR, what's one more to subscribe to? It's summer after all, when else will I have time to devote hours a day to TR reading?:rotfl:

That's exactly my way of thinking. I think I am subscribed to about a dozen trip reports right now. I have got to have SOMETHING to keep me distracted.
Hope you'll come over for a read.

I agree that this really may be the happiest TR that ever sailed! Can't wait for another update! :)

I missed two updates! For some reason I am not getting email updates anymore...weird. Anyway, great update! I have only ever done the safari once, and it was a long time ago! I love seeing all the pics that everyone posts, because it has just been too long for me!
And your pics of Nemo! Those have made me way excited to see the show. Great updates! And I can't believe you go back in four days!

Great update. After we rushed to get to the Nemo show, they cut the line off right behind us. We thought we were soo lucky! Not really. After a few minutes, the let a whole bunch of people in after us. I think they do that to let people find their seats and get settled. Then, once they see how many more available seats there are, they let in more people. We sat in the very back section in the first row. We really enjoyed it, but I liked FOTLK a little better.

Great TR ... I love, love, love Finding Nemo the Musical ... we went in December and I made my family sit throught it twice in two days ... glad you and your mom enjoyed it!! Looking forward to more of your TR!

Great update - can't wait for more! I have also always wanted to eat at Pizzafari but haven't done it yet... Maybe this next trip!

Yikes, I had a lot of catching up to do. It looks like you guys had such a great time! And all that food...it looks so delicious! I really shouldn't be looking at your TR while I'm hungry. I think I'm drooling on the keyboard.

Love your hair all texturized/wavy. It looks so good!

Looks like you had a great day at AK. It's one of our favorite parks. I LOVE Primeval Whirl, too! I was so disappointed when it was shutdown while we were there in October. I love to annoy DH and talk like the little dinosaur that squawks, "Bye, Bye!" It drives DH crazy! I'm so easily amused.

"We arrived at the gates to AK and the first thing we noticed was... the HEAT. Holy cow it was hot the entire week and I think AK really is the hottest park. It was a scorcher!" - This had me :rotfl2: I am busy commenting in my TR about how cool & dry it was all week! Are you sure we were there at the same time? ;) I guess coming from Canada, I can understand. Louisiana's much hotter & more humid than Florida at that time of year. We're in the 90's now with muggy high humidity. And that's just the beginning of summer. Yech.

Your trip sounds just amazing so far. And just think - only 2 more days left before you go again. You're so lucky! I love all the pictures you're including, btw. It's like reliving my trip just looking at them all.

:lmao: My mom was the same way about taking pictures to contribute to the trip report.

Yep, there'll be a few more contributions from my mom before the TR is over! LOL

I haven't ridden Primeval Whirl is YEARS. I want to do it again sometime soon.

Good pictures from Finding Nemo! The CM must have been having an off day, that is just weird. :confused3

Thanks!

I try to fit in PW every trip but skip it if the line is too long. Years you say though?! I order you to march straight back to WDW right now and ride it twice!

great nemo pictures. - Tell me about primeval whirl - what happens on that ride:confused3

It's a pretty small coaster, but what I like is that the vehicles spin the whole time. It's a roller coaster my mom and I can ride together (she doesn't like the big ones like EE) and it's really just a fun ride! I think I've seen ride videos on YouTube before... I'm not entirely sure though.

That's exactly my way of thinking. I think I am subscribed to about a dozen trip reports right now. I have got to have SOMETHING to keep me distracted.
Hope you'll come over for a read.

I'm going to come catch up on all your adventures today!

Lovin' this TR :thumbsup2 All the breakfast food looks delicious!

Mmmm and it tasted even better than it looks!

I love that Clair Huxtable is in the pre-show for Dinosaur too!

Are you another Cosby Show fan? I still watch reruns every time they're on! I miss that show.:goodvibes

I agree that this really may be the happiest TR that ever sailed! Can't wait for another update! :)

Thanks, alliecats! I'm just about done uploading my pictures for the next update!

I know, this trip has come up so quickly... I don't feel prepared at all, I haven't even packed. And for some reason I've been unsubscribed from almost all my TRs and PTRs... hmm, maybe something's up with the DIS? A conspiracy to make us spend more time working and less time reading TRs? LOL

Ahhhh that makes sense! That would definitely explain things.

I do like FOTLK but right now Nemo has my heart... probably because it's new and I haven't seen it a million times yet! But I do definitely like the music from FOTLK better.

Great TR ... I love, love, love Finding Nemo the Musical ... we went in December and I made my family sit throught it twice in two days ... glad you and your mom enjoyed it!! Looking forward to more of your TR!

Did your family like Nemo? Oh, and We were there in December too! What week did you go?

Thanks for posting and WELCOME!

Great update - can't wait for more! I have also always wanted to eat at Pizzafari but haven't done it yet... Maybe this next trip!

I've got the meal review coming up in the next post!

I know, looking at Disney food ALWAYS makes me hungry. And I've never heard that little Dinosaur before! I'm definitely going to listen for him next week. Always something new to see on every trip I guess!

"We arrived at the gates to AK and the first thing we noticed was... the HEAT. Holy cow it was hot the entire week and I think AK really is the hottest park. LOL there's the difference between DISers from Louisiana and DISers from Ontario!:rotfl: How on earth did you find the weather cool!? Haha most times we stepped outside I felt like I couldn't even breathe.

We went to New Orleans once in July in and it was BRUTAL. It was the summer right before Katrina hit, actually. Holy cow, I could never stand that heat!

I'm so behind on your TR... gotta go catch up!

Day Three, Part 3.

By this time it was around noon, and all I'd had to eat that day so far was that wee little Mickey muffin. I don't know if I've mentioned this yet but when I get hungry, I get HUNGRY. Grumpy and crabby and cranky. It's like I revert back to being an irritable toddler. So we went straight to Pizzafari after leaving Finding Nemo.

And when I mean straight, I mean we stopped in front of the Tree of Life for a few photos (I can never resist a good photo op!) and then continued on our search for food.

ry%3D480

I was absolutely ravenous by the time we got to Pizzafari. I was so happy to see this sign!

ry%3D480

Turns out the Pizzafari lunch line was the longest line we had to wait int all day. Go figure! Here is mom deciding what to get:

ry%3D480

And while she was studying the menu, I noticed... BUTTERFLIES.

ry%3D480

As you can see from my tag, butterflies (the non-cartoony kind. I can deal with the cute, happy, illustrated ones) freak. me. out. It's like they're moths but they're trying to trick you by being all pretty and coloured. They're just so furry and flappy and they scare the pants off of me.

But at least they were wooden and nailed to the rafters, huh?

We finally made our way to the front of the line to order, and I swear I practically shouted my order at the poor CM I was so desperate for food! But it was pretty quick and soon we had our tray of hot, delicious pizza. They were asking for donations to the Disney Conservation Fund so we gave... I don't know, 3 or 4 dollars? And we got this little pin in return.

ry%3D480

My mom and I had decided to get a cheese pizza (with side Caesar salad), an order of breadsticks and two cups of water. Here's the grub:

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

Oh, and my mom got a coffee.

ry%3D480

Now. I am not going to lie here. I am in no way a food snob. Generally, the fancier the food, the less I like it LOL. So this pizza was A-okay with me. Certainly not something you would find in an authentic Italian restaurant but for being theme park pizza, it was pretty darn good! It was hot, fresh and cheesy with lots of sauce. The salad was chilled and crisp and crunchy and the dressing wasn't too strong, which I liked. And the breadsticks were my favourite part, warm and garlic-y and soft. Plus the dipping sauce went well with them. This was our first visit to Pizzafari and I think we will definitely return. Plus, there is tons and tons of seating and I love the way the restaurant is decorated. Lots to look at!

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

Once we had polished off our lunch, we decided to head over to Camp Minnie-Mickey to meet some of our favourite furry friends. On the way, I had to stop and take pictures of some of the AK benches. I think they are just so cute!

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

And ta da! We were there!

ry%3D480

More pretty Animal Kingdom scenery. I love the landscaping in this park. Everything is so pretty.

ry%3D480

Hi Daisy! Hi Huey! Hi Dewey! Hi Louie!

ry%3D480

The first characters we came across were Chip and Dale. This Chip and Dale set was really fun. When we first walked up, one of them had run away and was pretending to hide:

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

Then Chip (Dale? I can never remember which is which!) took this little boy's harness and completely walked away with him. It was so funny because the little boy was looking up at first, completely confused... and then he just totally went along with it and didn't even look back at his family! Hilarious.

ry%3D480

The line for C&D was pretty short and soon I got to meet them for myself!

ry%3D480

I even got to dance with both of them. My mom was holding our camera at this point, so she didn't get in on the Chip and Dale dancing action.

ry%3D480

My mom did get her picture taken with the three of us, and then we said goodbye to C&D.

Next up... Mickey! He was moving through the line pretty quickly, so we each gave him a hug, took a picture and then waved goodbye.

ry%3D480

I decided at this point that I wanted to see Minnie, Donald and Goofy as well, so we lined up for each of them. Minnie was next. As we were waiting, Koda came over with a flower for her. It was a really cute moment!

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

I guess the character handler didn't want to hang on to it for long, so she gave it to a little girl just in front of us in the line. She was soooo excited, it was adorable! I love little Disney moments like that.

Up next: More of the Fab Five, a second safari and sundaes for dinner!

I love Pizzafari and those breadsticks are yummy! Wish I had some right now!

Dale is the one with the boys harness. Chip has a black nose "chocolate chip" and Dale has a reddish-brown nose. Dale also has the two teeth on each side of his mouth with a gap whereas Dale's teeth are together and centered. :thumbsup2

You beat me to the punch! My mom taught me that when I was little because I was always getting confused. :goodvibes

Ha Ha! Chip & Dale are usually so much fun... they really get into character!

Mmmm. Pizzafari is one of our favorite places for lunch at AK... the murals are so pretty and the tiles on the walls and floor are amazing, too!

I totally share your fear of butterflies and moths!! Moths are the worst though - I hate their heavy, flappy wings and hairy bodies, and the fact they flap and flop around like crazy everywhere. :scared1:

Not many people seem to understand my phobia, but there really are lots of people out there who share our fear!!!

Anyway, apart from the evil butterflies, I enjoyed your update! Chip and Dale are so cute! :thumbsup2
