All Aboard! The Great Land and Sea Getaway - May 2009 PTR

Nope, we won't be going back for several years since I'll be diverting all my funds to school.

Chuck has informed me that we aren't going back for a long while either after this trip. :rolleyes1

I do think this trip will tide me over for a while. And we really need to start getting serious about paying off bills and saving money for when he retires in 4 years.

Such a hardship you will have to endure staying at AKL. :thumbsup2

POR is absolutely beautiful. They refurbed their food court 2-3 years ago. The views are breathtaking! I bet your mom will love it. :goodvibes

Yeah, I don't know if I will be able to handle it. ;)

I was thinking that since we most likely will be sticking with AKL that I might surprise her by taking the boat over from DTD so we can walk the grounds.

So I think I am going to go ahead and make a ressie for Jiko. I have been salivating over that Filet and Mac and Cheese for a long time so I am just going to say the heck with the money and treat myself to a nice meal.

I'm also thinking about adding a breakfast at Kona as I really want to try the famous Tonga Toast. I'm thinking it might make a nice breakfast the morning we leave for the cruise or perhaps on our MK day.

Well I did it, I changed the hotel reservation back to Pop. As much as I would really like to stay at AKL the Canadian dollar is just not doing so hot with the exchange rate right now and since we are taking the cruise I figure we can afford to be a bit more frugal with the WDW portion. We will be staying AKL or Poly on the next family trip so it is not too big a loss, next time! By making the switch we are saving roughly $1000. Just think of all the clothes I could buy with that! :cutie:

This is hotel change number 6 for those of you keeping track. :rotfl:

Now since I am not too keen on swimming in the poop pool otherwise known as the Hippy Dippy pool :lmao: ;) I may add some water park time into the schedule as I had originally planned for lots of hotel time poolside. Either that or we will just spend lots of extra time in the parks or exploring other resorts. We'll probably just go with the flow once we get down there.

Since I was on the phone with Disney I went ahead and booked dinner at Jiko and breakfast at Kona.

I missed these earlier.

Oh no!! :guilty:

Wishful thinking CAR!!! :rotfl2:

Well, I do agree with him that we need to focus on paying off our debts and saving money in preperation for his retirement from the Navy. We'll still plan little trips here and there.

I'm sure my feelings will change once I'm back at Disney World. I know how strong those feelings are when you're there and after you leave! But, really - this is our third trip in three years and after this one we will have done the majority of things we've wanted to. And who knows - we could be living near Disneyland later this year. :rolleyes1

Congrats on saving the $$$$!! So I have a question...do you not like any of the other value's? You have stayed at Pop before. I'm one of those "I wanna stay at every resort on property" types so I'm curious.

I stayed at Music once and it was nice ;) If you ever wanna try it.

Also, isn't there Tonga Toasts at captain cooks that needs no ressie?

We decided to just go with something familiar. Also I don't know why but the theme/room decor of the All Stars doesn't appeal to me, not that I am a super huge fan of Pop's theme either. Since we are staying value we will probably not be spending much time at the hotel anyways. If we had been at AKL I would have felt obligated to hang out at the hotel to validate spending the extra money, don't have that with POP.

$1000 savings is a lot Lessa! Cool about Jiko and Kona. :thumbsup2

Yep, I figured I could use that $1000 on something else, like tuition or a plane ticket out west to see my Dad.

There is but I wanted a table-service breakfast. Who knows what we will do the day off maybe we will just head to the food court instead. I like having the ADR though so that we have options.

You're really a Scot at heart

 You know my Mom's side of the family hails from England/Scotland originally, Surname is Hunt. So maybe I have some Scot's blood in me. ;)

Poop pool? I swam in that!!!!!!!

Yep it is infamous for its numerous shut-downs/cleanings due to "floaters". :scared: I assume it is because it is the most heavily used pool by families with young children.
