So after paying off the cruise I had a minor freak-out and second guessed whether we should be paying for AKL when we are taking such an expensive cruise. I really want to stay there though! I checked online and POP still has availability on the 4/3 deal but I am afraid to stay there again after my famous rash episode of 2008. I certainly don't want that happening again. Then there are the moderates. I think I am going to sit on it for a few days and not make any sudden decisions. I just don't know what to do! Part of me is saying to be responsible and frugal and save the money and the other part of me is saying "Go for it! You can afford it!".

I might consider a Mod. I like POFQ the best, but I also like POR.

That is a tough decision. I say if you can afford it do it. If you want to save some $$ I would try a moderate. This is our first trip so I can't give you any " I love this place" advice but we are trying out CBR. CSR was my first choice but they were all booked up when I tried. We upgraded from POP. Good luck with the decision making!

Thanks for the advice guys! Still not sure what I am going to do. I really really want to stay at AKL but the fact that I am going to be a poor student for a couple years starting in the Fall is making me question my judgment.

I think if we go mod I would choose CSR or POR. CSR looks really lovely as does POR, CSR has newly renovated rooms though.

I have to pay my package off April 1st so I have about a month to struggle with this decision. I don't want to give up AKL prematurely as no more rooms are available there on the 4/3 deal so if I give it up there will be no changing my mind.

I liked POR very much. When Doug and I walked into AKL, I knew that the next trip with him would be spent at AKL. It's a very tough decision. It really has to do with the atmosphere that appeals most to you, oh and how much money you want to part with.

I guess you can look at it this way - Your at WDW, how bad can any choice be?

You can send them, she probably won't be able to answer them though. She has watched them all now except for Episode 3 but I don't think she has paid too much attention. For instance while watching Episode II she asked "Where's Leia?" I rolled my eyes and told her "She doesn't exist yet, duh!"

Nope, we won't be going back for several years since I'll be diverting all my funds to school.

If I wasn't going the next year I would stay at AKL. The atmoshpere is unbelievable. It was much more relaxing to me than the mod I stayed at. But then that might be because it was DM and the mod was with the girls.

Hmmm that's a tough one! If you won't be back for a while I'd say stay at AKL. BUT I LOVE POR and think it's one of the most gorgeous resorts I've seen and it was great just walking around and taking it all in. If you really want to save money you can't lose with POR. Plus at least you're still at Disney... we rent homes offsite all the time and STILL have an amazing time at Disney! Keep us updated!

And I wouldn't waste my money with a water view at POR.

We stayed there 3 times. First time we payed for water view... and our view was completely blocked by staircases and bushes.

The next 2 we payed standard and had lovely views of the fountains. And were closer to bus stops

Thanks, we would never pay for a "view" at a value or mod as you don't have a balcony to enjoy said "view".

Oooh, it's a tricky one! On one hand - you can't take it with you when you're gone (as my Gran always said), but on the other hand I'm a Scot, and we're genetically programmed to be frugal........ You could always wait for as long as possible and see how finances are nearer the time.

BTW we stayed at POFQ and it was gorgeous!!! Really good thing about it is the fact it's right next to POR and you can use all the facilities there so in effect you get 2 resorts for 1.

The biegnets at POFQ are to die for - whatever else you do in your life, you HAVE to try these at least once!

Just checked the WDW website and all the mods are booked as well as POP. Looks like I may be "forced" to stay at the AKL afterall. I'll check back again before I have to pay the package off, who knows maybe something will have opened up or maybe I will have decided to stick with AKL.

Another thing that has me conflicted about how much to spend on the hotel is that my dad wants my brothers and I to fly out to British Columbia (West Coast) this summer to visit him. The kicker is that plane fare in Canada is extraordinarily expensive, $800 round-trip.

Are you a little worried that the value and mod's are booked during the time of our stay? I always travel to WDW this week and it's never been booked up. I'm terrified that it is going to be very crowded. It hasn't been in the past.

No, not too worried, the values and mods are not completely booked there are just no more rooms available with the 4/3 deal. There are still tons of rooms available at regular rate though. We have gone during the Fourth of July and were able to navigate the crowds, we simply used the avoid parks with EMH theory and go to a park if it had EMH the night before, never had a problem.

Good deal. I was hoping that was the case. Joe isn't much on large crowds. I'd probably have to reschedule if it were really crowded. Don't want to do that. I'm really looking forward to the Dis meet.
