All Aboard! The Great Land and Sea Getaway - May 2009 PTR

I'm game for more check ins if you and Mary are. It will keep the challenge interesting. We are exactly two months from the finish line. Ooooh almost forgot Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Okay, how about we check-in with each other every Monday here on my thread since this is where it started. We can give each other updates on our progress etc. I won't post my weight but I will post if I have lost/gained anything. Sound good?

Good luck with your goal Lessa! You can do it! :thumbsup2

Thanks Car! I think it is funny that I am "starving" myself only to stuff my face once I get to Disney. :rotfl:

When I say starving I only mean depriving myself of all good tasting food (ie unhealthy) because really it does feel like I am starving myself sometimes.
:rotfl:

I know what you're saying about the comfort food, Lessa. I had 15 pounds creep up on me over the past 2 years and comfort food is my weakness. My metabolism has slowed down considerably as I get older. I am very short ( 5 foot 1 in.) so 15 pounds is like 3 sizes up for me and boy does it show. I am so weak. For example, today I had oatmeal for breakfast, a banana for lunch (not too hungry at lunch today) but had to get those onion rings from Burger King for a snack. What is wrong with me? Have to have some kind of junk food every day. For dinner I had a blueberry/banana smoothie. And I go to the gym 3-4 days a weeks for weights and cardio. But dagnabit! That one junkie thing every day is killing my weight loss goal.

Wait, what were we talking about? Holy crap! Did I just hijack your thread?! Point being, I feel your pain!

:woohoo: for two months!

I'm doing the same thing with the trying to get healthy, and Sparkpeople is a GODSEND! You create an account and you're able to log all the food you eat and calories you burn. The Nutrition Tracker's the best - you put in your height, weight, age, and goal weight, and they tell you what range you should be in each day for calories, fat, carbs and protein. They have THOUSANDS of foods already in the system or you can add them manually, and it helps you track exactly what you eat and when, to get a good idea of whether you're actually eating right and what you need to work on.

You can also set goals for workouts, customize workout plans, and track how many calories you burn each day. It's really great if you're looking for a healthy way to lose weight and build muscle. And it's all free! I swear this isn't an infomercial, the site's just really helped me get back on track  Check it out! :thumbsup2

 Not a hijack, it is on topic as I was discussing losing weight for the trip. ;)

My weight slowly crept on but university is what did me in. The cafeteria food in first year and little to no exercise. :teacher: :scared1:

I used to be so active and athletic, I want to get back to that eventually, right now I will settle for losing a bit of weight.

I have heard about that site, have yet to check it out though.

Hi,
Ok all caught up. The trip sounds wonderful. I would love to go on a cruise but Biff never would.

If you go to

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/

I just posted it on the weightloss board on Enchanted. It is our new way of doing it.

You put in your weight instead of Becky and you can count your calories and put in your exercise for the day.

Hey Scott, I'll check the website out.

Sounds good to me. I will do the same. I may check out some of the websites others have posted here and see if I find a fit. I've been letting the Wii track my progress.

Just wanted to say I'm enjoying your PTR and I think the idea of bringing your "flat brothers" is awesome. And sad but true.... I have a nearly identical picture of my brother. :confused3

Welcome!

:rotfl: That is too funny that you have a similar picture, your brother must be quite the character.

I finished the trip reports-enjoyed them very mcuh. Great pics.
I will check in but like I said it will be more exercise based for me since I have 5lb or so left to go. Did a long walk with the girls yesterday.

Thanks, I had so much fun writing my reports. It is such a great way to relive the trip and commit it to "paper" to look back on years down the road when the memory starts to get fuzzy. :rotfl: I wish I had a TR from our 97 trip, I barely remember it. :guilty:

Hi Lessa! How are you doing today? I've really watching what I consume and trying to do some exercise every day. You are going to have some tough competition...:rotfl:

Thanks for inspiring me to be healthier :goodvibes

Well so far I am down 3 pounds but weight fluctuates like that from day to day so I am not counting it as a victory unless it stays that way another couple days. I have been exercising every day and have been pretty good with my calorie intake. For breakfast I usually have a glass of skim milk and bran flakes and for lunch/dinner (remember my schedule is messed up because I would midnight shifts) I have been eating grilled chicken breast with a little bit of bread. Snacking on bananas and apples. I also really like the V8 Acai Berry Blend juice, very tasty so I usually have a glass of that.

Weight wise I am the same. I have been trying to make healthier choices. The after the kids go to bed snacking is what hurts me. What kind of exercise are you guys doing? I have a love -hate relationship with my eliptical machine-I love to hate it LOL. I can walk after dinner but not during the day-it is geting hot here already.

:thumbsup2

That is an understatement. Unfortunately I don't think that would be the most embarrassing picture of him. :scared1:

Oh, and congrats on getting the excursions you wanted. I forgot to say that earlier.

I do interval running on the treadmill. Now that the weather is getting nicer I might go for quick jogs outside.

Hi Lessa,

Good luck with your diet! You sound motivated enough!!! I should really be out running again, but I'm just too lazy at the moment!

Thanks, I am pretty motivated although I suffered a setback tonight. My brother Erich mentioned pizza and I caved. :guilty: I have been good the past few days though and I was on the treadmill for an hour this afternoon so I am trying not to feel too bad about it. Grrrr, I have no will power! :sad2:
