All Aboard Presidents Week Mexican Riviera February 19, 2012 Wonder

Someone asked on FB if the princess tea was different from the Alice tea. They are the same thing (with different characters). You get tix the same way - at guest services once you board the ship.

Hey All..If you are on facebook, I just created a facebook group for this cruise:
Disney Wonder Feb 19-26, 2012

If you would like to join, go on facebook, type in group name, and click "ask to join this group" and I'll add you.

I'm on another facebook group for my June cruise, and find that it is a much easier way to communicate, and it helps to be able to see each other's faces (if you have a profile pic) so we'll have an easier time recognizing each other and putting names to faces.

Betsy

Betsy I guess great minds think alike. I had created the FB page awhile ago because I find it much easier to communicate. I think you joined. If not please do. The group is DISboaders wonder Feb. If you are the Betsy that joined the FB group I noticed that you teach in San Jose. We live in San Jose and my kids go to public school. Where do you teach?

Hi! yes, I teach at Willow Glen Elementary. We get President's week off. Where do your kids go?

I just found this forum/thread. Hubby and I are booked on this trip - our first cruise ever. We are spending three days in Disneyland post cruise. So excited to be trying this out!

:welcome: to the Dis Boards.

There is quite a bit of information about the Mexican Riviera cruises in this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2752784 but feel free to post any questions here and we'll do our best to help you out.

Looking forward to meeting you. :hippie:

What a small world. They go to Booksin. We live in Willow Glen but on the other side by their school. That's why we booked this cruise so they wouldn't have to miss school. We just moved to California so ski week (presidents week) is new to us but I'll take it!!

And I, for one, would much rather go on a Disney cruise than skiing anytime! My daughter goes to school where we live (Scotts Valley, near Santa Cruz) and she will be missing 4 days to come with me. I haven't told her teacher yet, but I do plan to make her do school work on the ship.

For those who have done the Riviera before I'd like to follow up on a separate thread I recently created.

I am hoping to go to San Jose del Cabo to visit an estuary filled with fauna on one of the Cabo days. It seems to be a half hour away from port. I was told to barter with a taxi. Has anyone done this? Would they want US dollars or peso?

Sorry, we didn't take a taxi or go to San Jose del Cabo when we were in Cabo. We did, however, take a taxi (just a short ride) in PV. We had pesos but they quoted us prices in dollars. When we arrived at our destination, the driver tried to tell my husband that the price he quoted was per person and not for the entire family. :scared1:

I am very excited. After much internet research I found a tour from Vallarta that has really grabbed my interest. Instead of trying to make it to San Jose on my own from Cabo we are going to get picked up by a naturalist right from Puerto Vallarta. It is a half day tour that will take us a little less than an hour out of town for bird watching.

Just to double check myself and what I have learned from other threads. Arriving at 730 in Vallarta is ship time but actually 830 Vallarta time? Need to tell the naturalist what time to meet us. Thank you.

Is anyone planning on going to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach either before or after the cruise?

DH and I got home today from our 3 day Dream cruise - what a beautiful ship! We had a great time but actually prefer the Wonder overall! Can't wait to get back onboard! We fly out in 18 days!! :yay:

LKFan, we are planning on visiting the aquarium before the cruise.

We are not planing to go at this time. But last year we went there and it was a really nice Aqueriam. We had a lot of fun there.

We were at the aquarium on Sunday and they were talking about how many whales they are seeing. On Jan 19, they saw 40 Orcas!

For those that are interested, the aquarium does whale watching tours http://www.aquariumofpacific.org/blogs/comments/orcas_again

These photos were taken from the area where Terranea is located. http://www.aquariumofpacific.org/blogs/comments/watching_breaching_whales_from_the_cliffs

Terranea has Nelsons - a very nice, casual restaurant right on the cliffs. When they are close to the shore, we've seen dolphins and whales from our table. If you go, they don't take reservations so plan some extra time to walk on the path along the cliffs and bring a jacket because it can get cold on very sunny days.

Wow I am anxious to see if we see some of this action from the Wonder. Believe it or not our whale watch in Juneau last August was rather lame, especially compared to what we have here in MA. However, the whales and dolphins that we saw from the Wonder were spectacular. One night after dinner DW and I decided to walk back to the room on deck 4 and we saw a huge pod of orca swimming right along side the ship. Didn't have my camera, that is always the way.

LOL - my kids are taking exactly the same position! Our flight is around 8PM on Wednesday, but that day "doesn't count" because they have to go to a full day of school.

Is anyone else going to DL before the cruise? We haven't figured out our plans yet, but I know we can't spend 3 full days just sitting at my in-laws house!:scared1: My youngest is really pushing for DL - I don't think he was born the last time we went (we usually go to Knott's Berry Farm on our LA visits).

threeboysny- we'll be at Disneyland the Thursday, Friday and Saturday before the cruise. We should meetup and ride a few rides together! :darth:

That would be cool. I think we are probably going to do the park hopper on Friday. Ill let you know when we figure it out!

We are planning on DTD on Thursday with DL Friday and DCA on Saturday. We just learned today that an old high school friend will be coming down from the San Francisco area to join us on our visit on Thursday and Friday.

Is DTD similar to the one at Disney World? We weren't planning on Disneyland but DTD may be a good choice for one evening.
