I heard from someone that Alien Encounter was slated to be replaced with a Stich ride... has anyone else heard this for sure or did I just hear speculation. I'd hate to see AE go!!!
AFAIK, it's just a rumor at this point. If anything comes of it, it probably won't be announced until either PhilharMagic is open or the annual fall press events. I wouldn't count on it though. It's quite nice to know that there are two e-tickets and one D-ticket in the pipeline right now though (Mission: SPACE, Mickey's PhilharMagic and Expedition: Everest). Then there is Reflections of China, which is probably somewhere in the B-C ticket range.
I heard a while ago that AE was going to basically stay the same...but the "pre-show" portion of it would be more "Stitch" themed. Don't quote me on that though!
I shudder every time DF and I walk by AE, hoping he won't want to stop in. I sat through it once and HATED it. (i'm not good in the dark with stuff poking/breathing on me!)
When AE first opened it was great. Just scary enough to make your heart race. Now it is just so so. I think it is time for an update. I would really like to see it be just updated not replaced, especially not with Stitch. You need something for the over 10 crowd.
As in, really funny. I love the campiness of the whole thing, and I laugh myself silly every time I get a chance to do it (not often right now, as I have a kid too small to do it.)
For anyone who likes sci-fi films, the gag of "OMG, the transporter picked up the wrong life-form!" is a classic, and is completely predictable. The joy is in the fun of playing along with the gag.
EEEEkks--I hope it IS a rumor. AE is the fave of my DH and he would be very unhappy to see that go.
Change is ok, but don't mess with the main "ride"!!
IF this rumor turns out to be true--I have a bad feeling it will become a "pre teen" type of cutesy attraction, rather than what it is now.
The parks better realize that for every teen/adult attraction they re-work, they need to add something or else it will become less attractive to those of us with older kids (and selfishly, ourselves).
I'm going to "believe it when I see it" !!
>>Why not like Cinderella everybody hates that ride LOL <<
Nah, the carousel is OK, it's that 'scary' Snow White Adventure that everyone hates. Too nasty for the kiddies, too unbearably dull for the grownups ...
Unfortunately, the darn thing is in Fantasyland, so what can you do?
I think it would be cool to add Stitch to AE. When I saw the begininning of Lilo and Stitch in the theatre I remember thinking "This is like Alien Encounter!" I was so excited to see the similarity to the ride. Besides, I have been on AE lots of times with kids terrified that maybe adding Stitch to the storyline would soften the experience for them.
Please don't bash me for saying this, because I do love AE the way it is. I just think it wouldn't hurt to try it and see how it works.
