Alice in Wonderland Movie

We saw it last night IMAX Real D 3D I think it was called. I do not like Tim Burton Movies - he ruined Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - big fan of the original. I have to say - my expectations were nill as as I said before I do not like Tim Burton. I was looking forward though to seeing this movie. I LOVED ALICE!!! Excellent movie - I would take my child who was 5 and was able to sit thru a movie. My DS who is 9 loved it. By no means would I consider this movie dark - not like Nightmare before Christmas and Corpse Bridge. I want to see it again. I also want to see Clash of the Titans. That also looks excellent and the dino one looks good. The owl move preview looks stupid. Not sure if I would pay IMAX prices again though. I highly recommend this movie and cant wait till it is out on DVD as I will purchase it!

I'm with you on this! I really didn't even want to see the movie because I thought it looked horrible and we almost didn't see it because of movie prices (Tickets used to be 5 dollars and it jumped to 12 a person because of the 3D!!!) I was very much surprised that the movie was enjoyable. I was told that it would be dark and scary at parts and so was worried about taking my 9 year old. Mind you, Coraline scared the poop out of me! No such thing, she said the dragon thing was a bit creepy but that's about it. I can't wait to see this in 2D because 3D was horrible! Its a good movie and would recommend it most people (heck, even the 85 year old behind me said "This Alice thing is pretty darn good".....before the movie he said "I'm 85 years old and you drag me to see a g** d**n kid movie and don't even buy me popcorn!!")

We took the kids today, well, yesterday I guess (I should really go to bed.) My youngest was a little scared at the end with the dragon part, she covered her eyes and ears for a bit but wanted me to whisper in her ear a play by play so she didn't miss anything. Other then that part she was fine. The kids liked it, I thought the effects were great but didn't really love the movie (though I was never a fan of the cartoon or story) and DH was sort of in the middle.

I didn't care for A Christmas Carol either and we paid for 3D for that too.

I am NOT seeing anymore 3D movies till Toy Story 3D!

Is there anything else coming out in 3d before Toy Story 3? We've seen Up, Toy Story 1&2, and A Christmas Carol in 3d so far. (I couldn't bring myself to see Avatar).

I am trying to remember the dates things are coming out but I know How to Train Your Dragon was coming out this month and I am pretty sure Despicable Me was before Toy Story 3. I should say despite seeing the movies sooooo many times, we LOVED Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D!

DH and DD15 LOVED Avatar in 3D. I didn't see it. Isn't really my cup of tea and not good for the younger 2 so we didn't go, but they really loved it. I think most people did based on the reviews and ticket sales. Our IMAX still has sold out times for it and it came out at Christmas!

Shrek Forever After IS coming out in May in 3D! Cant Wait! I LOVE SHREK!

My 4 year loved it. I told her it may be scary in parts. After the movie she told me it wasn't scary at all. She has only watched g movies prior to this.

I thought there was another one but I couldn't remember what it was. SHRECK, of course! DH and the kids will love that.

We're planning to see Alice in Wonderland next weekend with DS7. I've explained it to him that it might be a little scary but he saw Transformers so he wants to see it. & we can't wait for Shrek 3D, & doesn't Toy Story 3 in 3D come out in the summer ?? popcorn::

Thanks for the reviews ;) Just from the previews DH & I had decided that it looked dark & would check it out first. We think our DS(7) would be okay but our DD(4) probably not. :confused3

We saw the movie on Saturday. We LOVED it! One of the best movies we've seen in awhile. The kids are 11, 9, and 3 (she turned 4 today!). The older kids didn't have a problem with the scary parts, but the 3 year old got scared during a couple of scenes. The 3D was excellent.

I think the girl who played Alice did an excellent job. She was perfect for the role.

On a side note, we payed $123 for the movie for our family: 3 adults & 3 kids tickets cost $75 through Fandango. $48 on popcorn, slushies, candy, etc. Whew!!

The movie theater in our town does free kids movies every week, so I'm not used to paying for the whole family to see a movie.

We went to a larger theater to see Alice-- it was $11 per person for the 3D ($55). We went yesterday morning, so we had eaten breakfast shortly before so the kids didn't ask for any snacks. We went out to lunch-- they forgot my meal, so I got a free meal, extra appetizer, and dessert and I had a coupon for a free dessert for my birthday. We wound up all having appetizers, entrees, and desserts for $30 + tip. :thumbsup2

As far as the movie... I didn't find it "dark". I went back and forth for days about taking my youngest (nearly 4) with us because all the ratings were mentioning 10 and up. I am very glad DH convinced me to bring him. We all enjoyed the movie and did not find it too scary or intense.

I was also a bit worried about the 3D (two kids and I have severe motion sickness). I feel yucky watching the short 3D shows at Disney, so I didn't know how a 2 hour movie would be for all of us. This didn't bother any of us at all. It was more of a realistic, super hi-def than what I was expecting for 3D.

Dd and I really liked. We would like to see it again as it seemed like I was missing some of the hatters riddles. (The sound was kinda odd at our showing, people kept asking each other what he said....)

It was a little dark but not beyond the Tim Burton normal. I was surprised at how many little kids (under 4) were in the theater. I wouldn't really take a kid under 6 to see it. Dd is 9 and she climbed on my lap during the 1st chase scene. She was good after that.

I think Tim has a weird thing with eyeball, Dd counted 7 eyeball encounters.

For once I am glad to live in a small town, our little 3 screen had it showing. Tickets are $4 including a drink. I bought popcorn and let Dd get dipping dots. Our total was $11 for the food and show. We used to see alot of movies as it was a cheap thing to do for the afternoon. We have been so busy with the horses the last movie we saw was the chipmucks, lol!
