I read about this in the "Best Secrets" thread about Alice and the Mad Hatter playing musical chairs in the "coke corner" around 2:30 pm. Can any of you fabulous people who have been to Disneyland recently tell me if they still do this?

I saw the show last fall and it was cute. I did not see when I was there a couple weeks ago but thought i saw it on the Times Guide schedule.

We didn't look for that, so I can't confirm or deny it, but we did stumble upon Alice, the Mad Hatter, and the Queen doing some dance numbers with kids and the marching band right inside the gates shortly after park opening.

Mary Poppins and Bert also did a little show at the castle with the colorful band members, and took kids from the audience to participate. Not sure whether either of these are on the schedule, as we just happened to be in the right place at the right time for those shows.

Our DD, age 2.5+ at the time, was picked for this when we went in '09. That whole little show was a highlight for our family, even before we knew anyone would be picked. :)

This would be cool, too! Anyone know if it's on the times schedule?

The most recent time we saw it was also last fall. They have been doing it for years, so hopefully it's still going on. It has never been on the times guide in the past and I am hoping it still isn't, not a lot of people seem to know about it, so it's always been easy for us to show up a little bit prior to 2:30 and grab a table. :goodvibes

We will be there in a week so I can report back if no one else goes before that.

Look at other posts here, and you'll see that the rule is that Musical Chairs is held at Refreshment Corner at 2:30 PM every day. As for "on the guide" - not on the paper guide, but the piano player is listed at that time online.

There has always been one exception - the game is not played in rain. If however, it is a rainy day, Musical Chairs may or not be played. The piano will be moved inside, but it is not known what determines if Alice & Mad Hatter play Musical Chairs. (I would not count on the game happening.) It appears that they will go into Refreshment Corner even on a day when the game is not played.

Normally, both Alice & Mad Hatter will be present - see other posts for who else may appear. There have been days on which one or the other simply is not available - Mad Hatter will lead the game by himself if necessary - Alice probably will too. Recently, I learned that there was a game played when neither was present - but other characters were. This was the first time Musical Chairs happened without either for ... who knows how long.

A second reason that the game may not occur is because the pair is busy elsewhere. During Disney Character Fan Days, Alice & Mad Hatter were greeting fans all day in the Festival Arena, so were unable to play Musical Chairs.

Now, the third exception is just a "possible". I only know that on Wednesday, August 10, the two were nowhere to be found in Disneyland Park. Maybe this was just a fluke. However, one reason I suspect otherwise is because that Wednesday was one of the 2 days per week in which the Disneyland Band was not present in the Park. Alice & Mad Hatter are part of both the entrance & castle shows in which the Band performs. It's possible that they may no longer be out on those two days of the week, for the summer or even longer. However, I have not seen any other report here of Musical Chairs not being played or Alice & Mad Hatter being absent on a particular day.

There are already pictures of Musical Chairs in other threads, so I don't see a need for another one, but here's A Mad Dance Party:

Thanks for the update! It looks like you guys had so much fun...I know my girls would love to play with Alice and the Mad Hatter! I will try and locate the other threads about this!

I specifically went on stake out of coke corner last fall during our trip, on our final full day.. I got a cherry coke and sat and waited, and sure enough- they came and played! It was so fun, and so cute! the kids had a blast, and both characters were wonderful! The white rabbit was there and so was a dapper dan(the hatter called him "ice cream man"). i took a lot of photos!

My friend did it (per my suggestion) about six weeks ago with her children and they had a great time! Alice and the Mad hatter both were there. :)

Saw them playing musical chairs one day when we were there earlier this month. I think even Mary Poppins and Bert were there, too at the time.

We saw this show when we were there in April. It was not in the Times Guide, though, and we asked some CMs in the area about it and they didn't have clear answers for us either. We would have missed it if it weren't for having smartphones and being able to access the DIS!

You guys are making me so excited to go! I cannot wait to see all that Disneyland has to offer! Thanks again for all the comments!

Do a lot of children get to play or just 1 or 2. Seems my nephew always gets picked but my son gets passed by. :-(

In our experience there has been quite a few. The last time we went there were about 12, I would say. From what I have seen, kids just walk right up and play. I have seen Alice and Mad Hatter walk up to kids and ask them to play, but have also seen kids just join the group.

The vast majority of games involve kids, but sometimes teens or adults are chosen are players.

We've been there on two seperate occasions and on both times my kids were chosen to participate but the previous poster is right, some kids just walked up and that was fine too. One time it was Alice, the Mad Hatter and Peter Pan (he was so fun) and the second time it was Alice, the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts...she had some sort of wedding and chose my DH to be HER husband..It was so cute! They chose someone to be a bridesmaid and another to walk to Queen down the aisle and give her away! Sadly, my camera died about 10 seconds before this all happened but I may have a pic or two fo the first go round with the musical chairs, the kids got a kick out of it and I had a great time relaxing and laughing and just having a fun time!

I'll post some pics in a few minutes!
