Alias Final Episode Tonight 9pm to 11pm Can't wait!

I love this show but I so miss Sundays at 9pm. I guess ABC has to keep it for Desperate Housewives since that's the biggest show but I really loved watching Alias before bed on Sundays.

Am I weird? I cannot imagine MV and JG doing the scenes where they are all lovey-dovey and now talking about a baby together when they dated right before she hooked up with Ben Affleck. It's gotta be odd and awkward. Lordy, what was she thinking dumping MV for BA anyway???

Call me confused. I just don’t buy that Vaughn is really dead. It just seemed to contrived and not “sad” enough if that makes sense. I just don’t think the show would be the same without him. I think if they get rid of him and then are missing Sydney for any episodes, the show is doomed. I’ll try to keep an open mind though. It seems like none of the rumor sites can confirm if he is really dead and/or leaving the show or not.

I think Vaughn is soap opera dead. Let him deal with the Jen/Ben thing and let her have the baby and then he'll be back. I also can't believe he's that upset or uncomfortable with Jen because of Ben. Seems weird.

Can we make this an official season 5 thread?

I liked the premier. I was hoping Vaughn would be more 'bad.' His father changed his name...lame. Looking for Prophet 5 stuff, lame. I've been hoping for years that Vaughn was a double agent. Of course if he was wouldn't he been able to realize that Lauren was?

ahhhh - here's the "official" thread.

Is anyone else surprised that they killed off Vaughn? Could be he's not really dead?

No, I guess I am not really surprised that they "killed" off Vaughn. I think he wants to be free anyway to try and do movies, and I can sorta understand if there are a few uncomfortable moments here and there if they have to kiss alot and have a baby together when they have broken up in real life, especially if there are any residual feelings left.

With Jennifer already sooo showing she is pregnant, ****s bigger, face rounder, I just don't see how they could hide it, but won't having a baby just really tie down this character??? I mean come on, she takes off at the drop of the hat to go all around to several countries. Who's gonna babysit? Grampa?? Nope, he's busy doing the same thing.

I also agree about the new time slot, me no likey. Almost every day of the week now, we have at least 2 things on at the same time and sometimes 3-4 things, arrrggghhh!!! I guess as the season goes on, and some things get cancelled, and others will be moved in hopes of avoiding cancellation, maybe it will get better. Thursday's toughest for us though with 4 things on at once.

Lynne

I'm hoping that if Jen Gardner wants out, they let her go and spend this season building up the secondary characters. I would totally watch the show if it centered around Jack, Marshall, etc. All Sydney did last season was be mad at Sloane, but I'm willing to concede that's the fault of the writers.

I also don't blame MV for wanting out after how JG treated him.

I know that TV contracts are pretty iron clad for 6 seasons. That is why a lot of movie stars are hesitant to sign on to TV series, because if it goes for 6 seasons, they are stuck.
That's not necessarily true anymore. There is probably a clause where the producer can get rid of some characters if (s)he deems it in the best interest of the show to "creatively move in another direction".

Remember the roommate Francie (Merrin Dungey) got killed off & Sydney's best friend, the writer, (can't remember his name, Will, was it?) has been moved to witness protection.

If you're a "Boston Legal" fan, actress Lake Bell was off the show halfway through the season. I remember her on some interview a several weeks before, saying how excited she was being with the show. :earseek: This season, now Monica Potter has been replaced by a new blonde. And the African American female intern (who was on "Boston Public,") has been replaced by another one.

While I hate that MV will be off the show, he was too moody-broody last season, after the break-up with Jen. If he is really gone, I'm glad for him he will be able to get a fresh start away from the JenBenBaby thing.

The fact that many of us keep mentioning how weird it is to watch the Vaughn & Sydney love scenes because we keep thinking about their history in real life, means it's distracting from the show. It's probably better Sydney also starts out fresh.

I just hope they're done with that Rimbauldi crap.

If MV does come back for the last 4 episodes, it may be in "flashbacks" (but with new footage) showing parts of Sydney's life that she remembers with Vaughn that we
didn't get to see before. Maybe having the baby triggers those "flashbacks" of Vaughn. Those are my guesses. :)

Definately agree about Rambaldi, very hopeful that has been drug out far enough. One more thing about MV, and then I will give it a rest. Didn't anyone else notice how lovie, huggie kissy-smoochie they used to be pre break up and then last year after they split, and supposedly on show still in love they barely had any scenes together, never really kissed anymore, and barely held hands????

Much better to let them both move on and get on with it me thinks...

Lynne

Yeah, brings home the point, "never date a coworker!".

Did the Rambaldi thing really conclude? I can't even remember the details.

I don't think I ever got over, lol, the season that started with Syd escaping from being kidnapped and 3 yrs had passed. I wanted that to be a dream.

I'm one of those people that is taping Alias and watching Survivor. My tape quit before the show ended, so can someone tell me what happened at the very end. The last thing I saw was Sydney in the bar telling the woman bartender, I think her name was Rene, that she knew who she was. TIA!

Anyone else notice Jennifer Garner is now a producer of the show? I'll bet if MV is gone, she had quite a lot of imput in it, although they'll make it sound like it's all JJ's decision. She's was in such a high profile celeb relationship - now marriage with BA, MV was doomed. If he had dated & married Joe Schmoe & hadn't become so famous herself, she might have had to suck it up & live with MV still on the show.

Anyone else think it's odd that MV got to work with BA's ex- JLo? Kind of like a "Spouse Swap." I wonder if JLo specifically asked for MV to be her hubby in "Monster-in-Law. Maybe that had something to do with getting him getting canned. Too much "Six Degrees" type of thing for JenBen. Or MAYBE, JLo knew MV was on the way out & she decided to help MV give his movie career a boost (while sticking it to JenBen.) :teeth:

I hope he isn't dead but I think he may just be. I'm not surprised though. I thought they certainly could have done a etter job with his death though. Not sad enough at all.

I'm still not good at all their names. Who is Mr. Sark??

I'm going to miss her having a sister. So we're suppose to accept that she lost her sister and the father of her baby in two back to back episodes? That's a lot of loss so quickly. Will they show her sister again?

Sark is the british, blonde bad guy that had the thing with Vaughn's wife. We last saw him in Venice, right? Riding off with Anna Espinoza (right name?) in the boat and they cut out the transmittor that the CIA had implanted.

I think Nadia is still in a coma in the hospital. I think that's all up in the air. They don't have a cure for her.

So off topic, but did you have a nice trip?

oh, thank you! I do enjoy his evilness!

Yes, we had a nice short, but tiring trip. It did rain alot though and I got rained out of Fantasmic for the first time. :( Also, wasn't crazy about Carribean Beach but we still had a great time! Thanks for asking!

Argh! I missed the opening credits for tonight's show.
Can anyone in a later time zone cxheck to see if Michael Vartan is still listed as one of the stars? Or is he now a "special guest star" or "Special Appearance by Michael Vartan", etc.

It will tell us a lot if Vaughn will be coming back or not, if they removed him as still starring on the show.

He was gone tonight from the credits. He's been off the ABC website since last Friday. I'm not sure it really means anything they could easily do something uncredited later to surprise us.

I'm not loving this new "prophet 5" stuff. I wish they'd get back to the roots of the show instead of mission after mission. I liked that Sydney had a life outside of SD-6. Now I just feel sorry for her. Lied too, betrayed, everyone she was close to either killed or in hiding...it's depressing.

If MV is no longer billed as starring on the show, it means he's no longer a contract regular on the show, (as people were hoping here last week,) that he actually isn't dead. While he may return for flashbacks or something, it would be as a Special Guest Star or something.

You notice, last episode, the season premiere, Weiss, Greg Grunberg, is listed as Special Guest Star, not as a regular for this season's shows, until he leaves. That's because they didn't renew his contract as a season regular. But they have been billing the two new agents, even though they haven't been introduced into the storyline yet, because contractually, they have been hired to STAR for the whole 5th season, regardless of what episode they actually start appearing.

Well, with the introduction tonight of this cryogenically frozen guy, my guess is that Vaughn, although maybe "dead" isn't really "dead." This cryogenic/nuclear thing will bring Vaughn back...just wait.

Now, here's a question - I didn't watch last season (figured the show wouldn't start until January this season and I'd be able to watch all of Season 4 on dvd before 5 started) so is the black CIA agent that killed Vaughn really a CIA agent? Was he on the show last season? If I remember correctly, Sydney was looking for this guy on tonight's episode (which was the whole reason they were searching for the guy that threw himself out of the airplane)...I guess he's a baddie?!?!?

Nevertheless, liking this season so far....I'm trying to appreciate it since this will probably be the last season for the show.

I am not liking all the changes. I love the guy (sorry don't know his name) who said he got a promotion. I can't believe he's leaving too.

That makes at least 3 major players leaving so far. I'm trying to still love it and accept the new changes/characters but its tough.

Its also tough to see her do her fighting and tough stuff while pregnant. She's putting her baby at risk and that kind of bugs me.

I'm hoping once I get over Vaughn (sp) being gone that I'll like it again.

I'm surprised but I'm actually enjoying the new season so far, I didn't think I would. Sad Weiss is leaving but maybe Marshall will get some more screen time, I love him.

Can't wait till Sark returns and I'm still hoping for a return of Spy Mommy.
