Alias Final Episode Tonight 9pm to 11pm Can't wait!

Well, with Sark in at least the next episode and Vaughn following that, at least the 2 December shows have a fair chance at being GREAT! I am sooo hoping that Vartan will come back to the US after shooting his movie in Australia and return to Alias for the spring. That's the only reason I tune in each week- to be up to speed if indeed they bring Vaughn back for good.

Bad news! Alias CANCELED!!!

'Alias' Over in May

When listing the things they're thankful for on Thanksgiving, the cast and crew of "Alias" will probably skip "steady employment."
While it has been widely assumed that this season, the show's fifth, would be the ABC spy drama's last, the network made the official announcement on Wednesday that this May's finale will conclude the adventures of Sydney Bristow and friends.

"This news, and its timing, is a mixed-blessing," says Executive Producer Jeff Pinkner in a statement. "Though we're obviously very saddened to face the reality that 'Alias' is coming to an end, the lasting quality of every good story is determined by its conclusion -- this news gives us the freedom to end the series in the climactic way it deserves."

The original concept for "Alias" came to creator J.J. Abrams back when he was working on his college drama, "Felicity," for The WB. One year he brainstormed that wouldn't it "just rock" if the main character, a university student, was recruited by the CIA and then had to go off and save the world while keeping her college friends in the dark.
Even though he continued to call the premise "ludicrous," Abrams did think it had the potential to be a comic book or cartoon come to life on its own.

ABC agreed and the story of grad student/international Sydney Bristow -- whose life became even more complicated when the agency she worked for killed her fiance and she learned her father was also a secret agent -- was born.

Abrams and his team managed to rest the clock on the show a number of times, fearlessly scrapping storylines and setting the charcters' world on ear at the drop of a dime ... or for a coveted post-Super Bowl spot.

This season, with star Jennifer Garner slightly restrained from many physical stunts due to her real-life pregnancy, the show attempted to reinvent itself once again with the addition of Rachel Nichols and Balthazar Getty to the cast. And the network promises that the announcement of its demise is really more of an effort to give "Alias" the send-off it has earned.

"Right out of the box, 'Alias' attracted a cult following of fans that were completely invested in the show," says ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson. "'Alias' is not going to wind down as it comes to an end, it's going to rev up, and we're going to make it the event it deserves to be."

I am SO sad. This is all Ben Affleck's fault! How can they wrap up the last 4 seasons by the end of the year!?! At least they know now so they can write a decent ending. I pray JJ is back on board full time so it is handled correctly.

Well since this ruined my night (along with DS fall!) I figured I should spread the misery!

Well, it's no real suprize to me. I think JG is glad actually. This way she's not the one to blame for probably wanting out of the show. "The NETWORK cancelled the show."

From previous years' Vartan had mentioned thet JG is in like 90% of all the shots. She was shooting endlessly where others had days off during the week.

Now with baby, Ben, movie success after "13 Going on 30" & the celebrity status of being Bennifer2, Alias just doesn't seem to fit her anymore.

Maybe that's the spark we've all been missing in the show this season... that, & no real sizzle with MV anymore.

Plus the show in no way is even remotely like the original JJ Abrams description: "The main character, a university student, was recruited by the CIA and then had to go off and save the world while keeping her college friends in the dark... Sydney Bristow -- whose life became even more complicated when the agency she worked for killed her fiance and she learned her father was also a secret agent -- was born."

I am also not surprised about the cancellation. She probably wants to do more movies and now she has the baby to keep her busy too!!!

Well....now that they know for sure it is ending, maybe they can wrap up as many loose ends as possible, and it does open the door to Vartan coming back in the very last show and then riding into the sunset to live happily ever after. Ifin he doesn't have to be there with his ex every week, just do a show at the end, it might not be as hard for him.

I saw the movie Derailed today with Clive Owen and Jennifer Anniston. And Clive's wife in the movie was the woman who played Vartan's no good wife for awhile.

I was blown out of the water by Alias last night! It was unreal! The last 2 episodes were 2 of the very best ever. I can't wait to see where they are heading. It is brilliant so far.

How they took Sydney back to the spots she shared with Vaughn was unbelievable. It looked exactly like they were replaying the scenes but with the pregnant Syd. Truly wonderful!!

J.J. out did himself, even for seasons 1 and 2.

If you didn't see it, find a copy. You will not be sorry.

Yeah! Alias is back next Wednesday for a 2 hour special episode! Sydney will have her baby!

I'm so glad it's back, just wish it wasn't canceled! :(

I'm thrilled they are airing the last episodes- there were some mumblings that they were never going to finish it.

I'm excited to see the conclusion...I just wish JJ was involved. I really wish ABC didn't ruin the show but at least we get a real ending instead of being left hanging.

I was so excited to see MV at the end of the episode! Wonder how they'll bring him back to Syd :confused3

I only saw the last 45 minutes of the 2hr show. Is there anywhere on the web I can watch it or will I just have to wait for the reruns?

you can buy it through iTunes

I'm glad they decided to bring back Vartan. I'm sure the original plan was to kill off Vaughn for real but with the fan outcry and the end of the series they had to bring him back to wrap things up neatly.

I just hope we get a satisfying Rambaldi conclusion w/out the network forcing them to wimp out.

I was so happy to see Vaughn too. Didn't it seem that Sydney knew he was alive. She asked her dad to do something on the plane and he said he's handling it and the next scene the guy is telling Vaughn.

So does Sydney know he's alive and has been pretending all along?

I also think he was going to stay dead till the show got canceled.

I knew he was coming back but I didn't know how. I had assumed he was kidnapped by Prophet five but I'm pretty sure that it was a scheme by Syd and her dad. I wonder who else knows and when he will be back with everyone.

I can't wait till this weeks episode Will and Anna woohoo. I love those two characters.

I kinda always thought he was still alive too, just didn't know where or how. But the even bigger question is: What will Syd name the baby? Michelle or Mikel (after her daddy) or maybe Jackie (after her grandfather) who helped with the delivery? Any other guesses, anyone?

I think it is a rewrite - when the season started I think he was supposed to be dead dead (as we call it in the soap opera world). Then fans threw a fit and blasted JG (and Ben for good measure) for getting MV fired.

Then I think TPTB went "what? JG can't carry the show? People don't like Balthazar Getty? People actually tuned in to see MV? wait a minute here!"

So when they got the cancelation notice the switched gears and made Vaughn's death a 'plot' by Syd and Jack.

I think they always left it open to be that way (Syd giving him the drink of 'something' before he died) but weren't sure until they found out the show was canceled. Had the show gone on, I think Vaughn would have stayed dead and then come back in season 7, lol.

I think MV getting fired is what ended the show. Who wanted to watch after he was gone? I was particularly irritated for the way JG acted toward him on the show. Her body language was very cool toward him. He barely kissed or hugged him. She couldn't even act enough the loving GF during the scenes.

The ONLY reason I tuned in again for this "final season" was because they advertized MV would be back. Notice the promo advertized him predominately, then in the two hour show, he's in it for like 5 seconds. I hope they aren't going to keep dangling him that way, then Syd & Vaughn finally get together in only the LAST & final episode. If they are going to bring him back, BRING HIM BACK! :cheer2:

I'm glad J.J.'s gone if that means they are moving in a different direction from that Rimbauldi cr*p! It was nice going through a full two hours without one mention of it. Let Alias get back to the kind of espionage show it originally was about, for the last episodes. It lost so many viewers because of all that hokey implausable stuff. :sad2:

Oh my! I couldn't believe it. They bring back her sister only to have Slone accidently kill her. He didn't even see upset by it. He went off the deep end.

Then they kill off the French girl! :faint:  WOW!!!

Looks like we'll see more of Vaughn next week too. :cool1:

I wish Mr. Sark would make an appearance before it's over and done with!

It was nice to see Jennifer's friend last week (with the bomb in his head).

I hope they wrap it up nicely.

Bumping this up to remind all the Alias fans of the Series Finale tonight at 9:00p and it's a 2-hour episode.

You can see a clip of tonight's episode HERE

Even though it seems time for the show to end, I'm still sad to see it go. :(

I sure hope they end it well tonight.

I'm excited - but it'll have to wait since I just got a ticket to Spurs v Mavs game 7 tonight. GO Spurs.

I'm setting 2 tivo's just in case!

I'm so excited but I also will have to wait. I haveone Tivo for 24 and one for Alias while I watch the hurricanes vs sabres hockey game.
