We’ll we’ve made it to the airport in one piece. We dropped the luggage off last night at Twilight Check-in. Took us longer than usual because of some road works along the way. We were only at the airport for 30 minutes, but the parking charges were still £2.40. Another minute and it would have cost us £4.00.

Marion Cabs was early, but her usual efficient service got us to the airport in super quick time despite the rain.

Lots of changes at the airport since we were last here. We all got pushed up to the first floor for airport security and then once through into the departure lounge, more changes. A bigger restaurant area, with more seating and a bigger McDonalds. I had my usual porridge and coffee (no tea yet!) and Rick had his usual breakfast muffins.

The shops had also changed from last time. More places to spend money. I treated myself to some lovely body lotion. Books, magazines, chocolate (yes chocolate) were also purchased and we now had a couple of hours to wait till we are called to the gate for 10.15am boarding.

At 9.45 we get the call to move from the main terminal to gate #17 ready for boarding. Pretty Woman is our plane for the trip and after a rigorous search, we are all cleared for the flight. We were the first onboard at 10.30am. The plane finally departs at 11.50am. The Captain announces that the journey of about 8hrs 30mins will get us into Orlando at about 3.30pm local time. The flight was fairly uneventful and although I was pleased that they still serve GU for dessert, the meals have definitely taken a turn for the worse. Also, no pretzels…you can see where Virgin are making cuts.

We are served Ice Cream during the flight and then afternoon tea was a sandwich and soft cookie. At 3.30pm we landed. Through immigration and customs really quick, but a problem with the 2nd baggage claim means that when we finally do leave the airport it has taken us 1hr 30mins to finally get on the road. The weather is also not great….very showery but we’re not going to let it spoil our first day in the US.

Once at WDW Boardwalk, we check in, in super quick time and find that we have been given a room just off the main reception area. WOW…we’ve lucked out here. Rick and 1 leave the room whilst to head on back to Walmart for the essentials. When we finally do make it back we are so tired and ratty that they finally call it a night at 9.00am (which is 1am UK time).

Heather pleased to see another of your trip reports.

Can't wait to read more

Always a tiring day. You don't have to leave your luggage any more for that second bag drop, in case you didn't know.

Thanks Wicket...we did think about this, but with three heavy (and I mean heavy) cases and a very full garment bag plus several pieces of hand lugguge we gave in and used the 2nd case drop.
