Alfredo's - positive review

On Monday 12-12-05 we went to Epcot's Candlelight Processional with Dinner Package and ate at Alfredo's. I went with an open mind but I was also a little worried because of the negative reviews I have read and especially a recent long thread/debate about Alfredo's. Hubby, myself, and my girlfriend all enjoyed our meals very much. We had no complaints! The restaurant was very crowded, waiters were singing and it was loud but we enjoyed our meal very much. I would not hesitate to go again.

I'll second that! Being a big fan on Mama Melrose I was a bit hesitant to skip that on my most recent trip and go to Alfredos to do the package instead.

While I agree with one of the biggest complaints I hear, the tables were close together, it didnt bother us. We were just very hungry and wanted to eat. They got us in before our PS time and moved the meal right along. We were in a hurry so this was good. It wasn't too rushed, but we werent sitting around waiting either. All the food was very good. It wasnt the best meal I have ever had, but I wasn't disapointed at all. I would go back again.

Anytime we have eaten there, we have always had a positive experience. Good service, decent food, etc. Sometimes it is fun to sit near people, you strike up a conversation if you and they are willing, and just share your Disney experiences, where you are from, that kind of thing.

I also had a great meal last July. We also thought it was quite busy but the food was really good. If I hadn't been so lucky in getting ressies at Le Cellier, we would gladly have returned in Jan.

we always go there, and we always have a great meal. If you are in a rush it might be a problem but for a leisurely meal its wonderful. Great waiters and waitresses.

I'm glad to hear good reviews about Alfredos. We will be eating there next week and I was beginning to regret booking there. I am looking forward to it now.

I ate there in late October and lasagna was on the menu.


OP: Thanks for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed Alfredo's. We also decided to give it a try and loved it! The food and service was wonderful. It's my favorite restaurant and I can't wait to eat there again.

Great to hear positive reviews. We are dining there on Christmas Eve (CP Package). In the past we have only dined for lunch, so were a little concerned.

They brought fresh bread and olive oil for dipping to the table before we ordered.

I had the tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, olive oil and olives for my appetizer; trio of pasta entree which included (different from menus I had read) ziti, gnocchi, and lasagne; and tiramisu (sp?) for dessert; with a diet coke. (The gnocchi and lasagne were my favorites in the trio.)

Hubby had the calamari appetizer; veal entree (more like a stew, not like previous menus I had read - but was excellent); and chocolate mousse for dessert; with a ginger ale (but the only strange thing was that he was not allowed refills of ginger ale like we were of diet coke and iced tea).

My girlfriend had the fettucinne appetizer; also the veal entree; and I can't remember exactly but some kind of flan for dessert; with an iced tea.

We all enjoyed our meals very much. My girlfriend has been to Italy a couple of times and she loved her meal. As I mentioned in the original post, I was a little worried because of the negative posts/debate that had been going on about Alfredo's but we really did enjoy everything we had! I would go back in a second!

I'm very glad to read positive reviews. We will be eating there on the night of
our arrival in April. We have never eaten there before so I was a little worried.
My DS 17 is very fussy but loves everything pasta. Can't Wait to try it out.

The last time my wife and myself dined there it was about 4 years ago and both of us disliked it. We decided we would give it another try a few weeks ago for lunch and we were surprised by how much we liked it this time. We will be trying it again on our next trip for dinner.

Strange, I had ginger ale there in Nov and I was maybe half way through and they kept bringing me refills without asking, just kept putting them down in front of me!

I had a Fantastic experience at Alfredo's last Wednesday for lunch dining solo, I'll wait til after my trip next week to post full reviews of all my dining though. In the meantime, thumbs up!

Being from an Italian family (my grandparents and two aunts were born in Sicily and emigated to the United States), I wouldn't say I'm critical of Italian restaurants, but maybe I'm a little...... selective on where and what I eat, when I go to one. I constantly compare Italian cooking in restaurants to my mother's and I found the gnocchi at Alfredo's to be very good. The closeness of the tables didn't bother me, in fact, I think it adds to the ambiance.
Something that struck me, when we ate at Alfredos, was the way in which the waiter said our last name. Like many other families, our surname was changed slightly, when they came into Ellis Island. What it was changed to, is actually an Italian word for a certain cooking utensil. The waiter pronounced it how it actually is pronounced in Italy, which I thought was neat. He asked if I knew what it meant in Italian, and I told him yes, and that the chef was probably cooking our pasta in one of them.
