DH and I are toying around with the idea of trying Alfredos on our next trip to WDW, but we're not sure if we will like it. We are foodies, but don't limit ourselves to only the 'signature' WDW restaurants. DH is Italian and living in NY, I definitely know what good Italian food is. Olive Garden is not good Italian food!! We will have the dining plan, so we can split a meal there. One thing that has always put us off is the smell from Alfredo's. It's very cheesy smelling and not in a good way....Any insight? :confused3

I loved Alfredos, in fact that is the one place that we are planning on repeating during our next trip. But, I like Olive Garden, and I am definatly not a food snob. I live in Oklahoma, and in our city we have a family from Italy that runs a restaurant that is adored by everyone that tries it. It is different than Alfredos, but they are both great! :thumbsup2

I think it depends on whether you believe "authentic" is the same as "good".
I believe the signature Fettucine Alfredo served in Epcot is the real deal, and I happen to like it a lot. Our family has eaten there since Epcot opened, and we wouldn't miss it.:earsboy:

I lived in Italy for 2 years and I'm a pretty bad Italian food snob. I thought it was pretty authenitc, and good.

HTH.

We are Brits - love Italian food. Thought Olive Garden food was revolting. Alfredos was ok - DD liked her pasta with tomato sauce, but DHs food was cold and it was all very overpriced. Would not go back. We haven't found any good Italian food in Orlando yet - maybe we will this time (going in 7 weeks). Hope you find some good food.

Another food snob here ;) ! I am Italian, love to cook Italian, and love to eat good Italian food, especially in some of the best NYC eateries. That being said, I thought Alfredo's was pretty good (DH, who's a little more removed from the "old country," loves Alfredo's). I wasn't that hungry the night we went, so I just had a bowl of Pasta Fagioli (tasted good, just like Grandma's) and a salad, which was also good. DMIL had the lasagna, which was also pretty good and huge. DH had some appetizer which I can't remember, then the Fettucine Alfredo, which he loved, loved, loved.

Give it a try - it's definitely not the Olive Garden.

Hubby and I enjoyed Alfredo's and we also know that Olive Garden is not real italian food, lol, although that is exactly what many people are expecting when they come to disney world.

The homemade fetuccine is wonderful. (I had the pasta trio plate..all were wonderful..lol) The calamari appetizer is excellent, and of course we wind up the meal with limoncello, if your hubby is italian you probably make this yourself at home, but the one they serve there is fantastic, as close to home made as you can get.

Keep in mind while they try to keep all the restaurants in the world showcase as close to authentic as possible, the food in each and everyone is a bit "americanized" otherwise people complain, complain, complain. Very few people, except for those who really know how to take each and every dining experience for what it is understand that like olive garden isn't true italian, taco bell isn't mexican..lol.

No, Olive Garden is NOT good Italian :lmao: I liked Alfredo's very much. I am really learning much more about authentic Italian Cuisine lately (preparing for a culinary tour of Southern Italy) and haven't eaten there since I've been on this phase tho. I'll be interested to see how it stands up after my tour.

We have olive garden here and LOVE IT.. :thumbsup2 Especially the salad, when I was pregnant I always had to go, just for the salad..I think we are going to try Mama Melrose when we go in october..

We found Alfredo's to be too loud, the tables too close together and the service rushed and below par. The food was ok .. not great. We will not be back.

Have you considered Palio?

With so many different people with varied tastes, you can't expect everyone to agree on the WDW restaurants. It seems we are united on our opinions of Olive Garden ;)

being a philadelphian id say our italian food tastes are pretty similar and i didnt really like alfredo's entrees, however i did like their dessert! but i dont really like any restaurant italian food, i stick with my moms! id suggest a different epcot showcase restaurant like le cellier for awesome steak or san angel inn for great mexican cuisine!
