Alfredo's closing permanently?

The downtime between Palio and Il Mulino at the Swan is considerable, but that's no doubt because it is being rebuilt to meet the specifications of the original Il Mulino. With Alfredo's it may be a matter of simply changing ownership/management.

Do we know when Alfredo's will close? Is it the end of July, beginning of July? I would love to try and get there one more time before it closes!

This was just added to the Intercot thread:

To settle any doubt on this issue (although Ed is extremely reliable on these matters ), the following has now been published for Cast Members to pass along to Guests and answer their questions:
Quote:
Exciting new changes are coming to the Italy Pavilion at Epcot that will further enhance the Guest experience.

Our contract with L’Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante will reach its conclusion on August 31, 2007. While we have enjoyed working with the Alfredo’s Group since Epcot opened, we are finalizing plans to develop a new Italian restaurant concept.

This builds upon the original vision for World Showcase, which was designed to continually evolve and offer new Guest experiences that showcase cultures, traditions and immersive entertainment from around the world.

We look forward to announcing more details in true Disney fashion once all the particulars are finalized.

Yes.

Q12.Will this change impact any other venues within the Italy Pavilion or World Showcase?

No.

Looks like the closure was delayed about 30 days from the original internal announcement, which would explain why reservations were still being accepted for August.

We have an ADR for lunch in early August, sounds like they will not close until the end of August. I am very apprehensive about going there now as the service and food may really be lacking (as in they don't care they are closing!) What would you do, we were really looking forward to eating there...

Hmmm... you wrote this in the present tense. Are you aware that Il Mulino is already open?

No! Thanks for the heads up! Somehow I missed the announcement.

The menu looks wonderful. We will definitely have to go there this winter. Not sure I care what opens in Epcot anymore....

Oh wait -- just noticed the prices at Il Mulino. Maybe it would be nice to have a more reasonably priced new Italian place in Epcot as well!

I would never assume that simply because one location is scheduled to close that the quality will deteriorate during the final days that location is open. Alfredo's still has it's original location in Rome as well as New York City and they are opening a new location in Vegas. So they would prefer to provide higher quality in hopes that it would entice people to visit their other locations.

For those who asked about the new Asian resturant in AK, Deb has the name listed as Ying & Yak on her web site. Here is the link:
http://allearsnet.com/tp/ak/ak_rest.htm

Also from Deb's site:

Coming Summer 2007 - Ying and Yak, an Asian themed restaurant will debut in the Village of Anandapur in Animal Kingdom's Asia in Summer 2007. It will offer both table and counter service dining options, as well as house retail space with Asian-inspired merchandise, such as sushi plates and fine teapots. The restaurant will be operated by the Rainforest Cafe's Landry's Restaurants.

I have mixed emotions about Alfredo's closing. At one time it was one of my favorite Disney restaurants. Unfortunately the last few times we ate there it had gone way downhill. Hopefully the new restaurant will be better.

This is funny! The other day, I emailed Disney on a whim just to see what they would say when I asked them straight out about the closing of Alfredo's. Here is what I received today:

Thank you for writing us! Your message is very important to us and
we'll be getting back to you as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Walt Disney World Online Communications

Well it's official, Allears is reporting it will close 8/31.

Where did you see that, I can't find it on there? Thanks for a link.

:rotfl: I literally just hung up the phone 15 minutes ago making a ressie for Alfredo's on 8/31. I guess we will be there for the last night!

We had an adr on 8/26 but I cancelled it & went for Garden Grill. Hope the new place is good!

When I talked to DH about it last night, he said to try and get an ADR in hopes of it being the new place already, but I guess it will be fun to be at Alfredos for its last night. We have always had decent food there and really needed to come up with one more TS meal anyway! :goodvibes

Your sarcasm was unnecessary.

Right back at you, what the heck, I asked for a link, I could not find it.

Does that make me sarcastic, I don't think so, it was a request for an honest answer. Geez

If anyone is kind enough to send me a link to the announcement on Deb's Site I would appreciate it, I simply can not find it. Thanks.

I never knew that asking for help finding something was considered a problem.:confused3
