I was looking at flights out of Platsburgh NY. It would appear that flights from there to Sanford/Orlando FL are only on Fridays and Monday? Is that correct? If so, that would mean additional hotel nights I hadn't planned on. But with their low fares, perhaps thats worth it? Do they charge for baggage?

They charge for everything. Charge to use their online reservation system, charge to assign seats, charge for baggage, charge for a drink/snack. You have to add that all in.
I just wanted to mention about avoiding the convenience fee. You can usually only book your flight and hour after one of allegiant's flights. If you see a great sale far....just book it. New Year's day flights were at 20.10 and dbf insisted in going to the airport to book. Well by the time a rep was there to book the flight...the sale fares had been taken away.
Oh and by the way...Lehigh Valley mall also has an allegiant kiosk...but I'm not sure of the hours.
So if I go to the airport to book my trip I don't have to pay the convenience fee? There is 5 of us flying. I don't know if it would be worth the 1-1/2 hr trip to the airport or not, but it is something to think about.

The only problem with Airtran is that you should not book with them if you care about departure/arrival times or having direct flights. Airtran will schedule many many flights that appear to be convenient, then once they have your $ will consolidate those flights and add connections. You do have the option to get a refund when they do this, but my guess is that they are assuming it will be less of a headache to have them put you on another flight rather than going through the hassle of rebooking with another airline.

I wouldn't worry too much about AirTran out of ABE. I believe there are only 2 daily flights out of ABE - not much to consolidate! There are, however a few different connector times.
Just keep an eye on your itinerary by going to AirTran's website under Reservations - Find Itinerary and entering your info (confirmation #, the first and last name of one of the people on that itinerary, and the departure airport). You can see all of your flight info and can tell if something was changed.
Service from HGR-SFB (Hagerstown, MD to Orlando-Sanford) will end July 19. Bummer! I flew them once in May 2009 and had an enjoyable flight. Free parking at HGR, too. Oh well. I don't care for their early AM Monday return (7am) on this year's schedule. Last year it was Friday evening (HGR down) through Monday afternoon return (SFB-HGR).
Just got an email saying that Hagerstown-Sanford service returns May 25. I guess they haven't loaded any of those $59 fares yet, because their site is showing flights over $200 each way. Only flies Mondays and Fridays.
