Alegiant Air Question

I am also playing the waiting game with Allegiant, right now. We scored $9.99 each way flights in Feb, and since I know those deals sometime come up I just can't talk myself into booking higher. Last wed our return flight came down $15 but today our flight out went up $20!. I am getting nervous but have been tracking the flights for months, I have figured out that between 25-9 days out is when they drastically drop thier price for our airport, and today is day 28, holding my breath that they go down more and not up again. Then there is that whole should I buy online and pay the $14 fee or risk driving to the airport to save the money debate too.

But we are flying back on a weekend, memorial day Sunday, so I am about to bite the bullet and go ahed and buy those. I think $44.99 one way isn't bad for a holiday weekend on a sunday. The flights range anywhere from average $9.99-$134.99 but usually average between the $39.99-$99 mark.

$10 each way?!?!?!? Seriously?!?!? :faint: You scored big-time!! :worship:

I'm hoping that our flight down (currently at $128+fees - just from ABE to MCO!) will drop. I'll even jump at $80!

Yep it was amazing, I actually thought I was dreaming, I cleaned my computer screen, checked to make sure I put my contacts in and then had my co worker look at it, it was true!! We booked and took a last minute trip down. But now that has ruined me on booking at higher rates. I know the current rates aren't too bad but now I know they can be cheaper and I'm relying on the allegiant fare fairies to sprinkle me some pixie dust too much I'm afraid.

Flights around May 20-21 are now 19.99 out of Allentown from Allegiant if anyone is interested. Boy how I wish they were the prices for August.

I just came to post that too! if only I could get $19.99 back then maybe I could talk dh into going for a quick trip!:goodvibes

I was just going to post it too! I'm glad we're looking out for each other!

So, it looks like Tara was pretty spot on - prices are best about 3 weeks before your date. Ugh, that means I won't be booking my flight to MCO until the end of July! :scared: My OCD self will go insane! Hopefully my cheap self will be able to keep the peace. :lmao:

Have you checked AirTran prices for your dates? They may be cheaper than Allegiant!

Yeah, I keep checking both sites almost daily. Am I obsessed much? :lmao:

We like Allegiant's flight time (11am- 1:30pm) better than AirTran's (6pm - 8:30pm) for the flight down. The prices are the same right now ($128 before fees) but I would consider AirTran if there is a considerable price diffference. We really want a non-stop flight so the 1-stops aren't being considered right now.

We've already booked our flight home using AirTran. Their flight time (2:30pm-5pm) was way better than Allegiant's (7am-9:30am) for us.

Good score with the 19.99! I'd book that in a heartbeat. Allegiant seems to have dropped quiet a few fares last night (most price changes seem to happen between 4pm-7pm from my research) and today.

One of our days dropped, just waiting on the other one now.

Just daily? as soon as my feet hit the floor in the morning I check, when I arrive at work I check, before I run out the door for the day from work I check, and the last thing I do before I go to bed is check. Hello, my name is Tabitha and I am an allegiant fare-aholic.

I'm right there with ya. Maybe we should schedule a meeting.

and is anyone checking the actual availability on the flights? I keep doing that too, to make sure the seats aren't filling up. Good news, they really haven't budged! So I hear ya, checking every hour and putting in a "mock" reservation to check on seat availability. I can't wait to book the airfare already! :hourglass

I'm starting to get obsessed with Allegiant's prices too. I'm flying from Hagerstown, MD, and one thing I want to do, is avoid this: "a convenience fee of $14.99 per passenger will apply when booked on allegiantair.com."

Hagerstown has a really nice outlet mall, and I would rather spend the $30 "convenience fee" (just my husband and I) on something at the mall! So, when we're ready to book-going in November-I'll just drive down to the airport, save myself $30 and shop!!

So if I go to the airport to book my trip I don't have to pay the convenience fee? There is 5 of us flying. I don't know if it would be worth the 1-1/2 hr trip to the airport or not, but it is something to think about.

Damn, I never noticed that. Bummer. I could have saved a few MORE bucks! Oh well, I know now! Here's the detailed info from the Allegiant site:

A convenience fee of $14.99 per passenger will apply when booked on allegiantair.com. A convenience fee of $14.99 per passenger, plus $10.00 per segment, will apply when purchased through Allegiant Air call center. Purchases made at any Allegiant Air Airport Ticket Office will not incur a convenience or call center fee.

Wow..thanks for posting that...so that would save almost $30 pp roundtrip?

It appears that the fee is only per person for booking online, not per segment. The per segment fee is added if you book over the phone. But it would still have saved me $45 total for my family of three. Grrr...

Make sure you call ahead to see when Allegiant reps are in the airport to book tickets. I wanted to do this as well to save the fee but they were only there 2 days the week I wanted to go book, and very limited times (like a 2-hour window). I hated to pay the online convenience fees but once I saw it drop to $19.99 I knew the reps weren't in the airport for 2 more days & no way was I waiting around at that low rate! Glad I didn't because the rate was back up within 24 hours.
