Does anyone know if there are AA meetings held on property for those who do not have a car to travel with? If not any info on near by meetings would be helpful.

BTW, is there any Dis Forums or threads geared to recovery?

Seems like I remember reading something (can't remember where though) saying that there are AA meetings held somewhere near WDW and they (AA) will arrange transportation to and from the meetings for you. I'm sorry that I can't remember more specifics. Maybe this will jog the memory of someone else around here and they can help you find the specific information.

Maybe you could even call guest services at one of the resorts to see what they have to say.

Try Deb's site wdwig.com there might be something there.

Good Luck.

I don't know about the parks, but they do on the Disney cruise ships. It was our third cruise before we finally figured out what the "Friends of Bill W." meetings were!

This is probably the closest from that list to WDW. It would be Orange, Osceola, Polk counties that are the closest to WDW.

There used to be a daily meeting at one of the DD hotels but I think they could no longer afford to rent the space. I will ask my DH when he comes home; he went to one there and he would know if it is still there. Also, I seem to remeber the UG has a section for AA meeting info.

OK, they are no longer in that hotel and DH does not know where they moved.

If you call the local intergroup, they should be able to help you.

Bumping to see if anyone else has any info for the OP. :goodvibes

Trying to revive this thread to see whether anyone has any personal experience with AA meetings in the area. I have the schedule for several locations nearby and was thinking my traveling companion might use a taxi since we won't have a car this trip.

Anyone have any further info???

Any AA meeting will either have someone pick you up, or arrange transportation. They don't want anyone who wants help to not be able to get it.

I am sure the Orlando area AAs are used to these questions- give them a call.

I know this is an old thread, but when will you be at WDW?
You know they say that all you need for a meeting is two drunks and a coffee pot. I'll be there 9/08-9/15. PM me if you'll be there around that time.

I would suggest the intergroups, either Osceola or Orange. Seminole would be too far and I think Polk would be as well.

I know there used to be a club that was right off I-4, but I can't remember the name of it (haven't lived in Orlando since around 1993).

Also, AA doesn't provide the rides, but the Intergroup will help you get in touch with another AA who can drive you if you need. However, be prepared, it might take you a while to get a call back, depending on if they can find someone.

You might call the Royal Plaza and see if the meetings are still going. Thanks for the thread. I might just check in on one of the Royal Plaza meetings if they are still going and see if I recognize anyone.
