I'm guessing that at a decent restaurant they make way more than $15 an hour. I live in a resort area and a lot of teachers do serving in the summer and claim to make a few hundred $$ a night in season (which is when they do it, and teach in the off season). a 6 hour shift where you make $200 is more like $33 an hour... and that is on the low side. I suspect it is similar at disney with all fo the 18% auto gratuities and huge checks with high prices... where else does a buffet server with a table for 6 walk out with something like a $35 tip no matter what they do? At the signatures they have NO reason to ***** either, how many tables do they serve at once and how many of those bills are way over $100? They are making awesome money to live in a low cost of living area... although I do not begrudge the tip and do appreciate their job, let's realize they are making big bucks to do it and really have no reason to be a jerk to someone who is not ordering booze. My bill at CA Grill last year with my kiddo was just about $100 with one cocktail, and kids meals... $20 tip for a table of two and we were there about an hour. The only ones who stand to win from raising the prices of entrees 20% and raising staff wages to $15/hr are the restaurant owners. Not too surprising --I have MANY server friends and w/o the possibility of tips, it would probably take MORE than $15 an hour for them to put up with what they have to put up while dealing with the "general public"![]()
